Johnny, was a jovial man with a twinkle in his eye, He spotted us and started smiling off sheepishly, then he leaned in towards us "You two look like a perfect couple!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine admiration.
" Johnny can you shut up ,why is it Soo hard for you not to interfere with other people's business!" Jenny the Nanny said.
" Of course we are perfect , What else can we be ," Wesley said winking his eyes, I rolled mine and hope all this goes well.
Kensley, sophisticated as always with a warm smile, smiled at Wesley, who sat beside her with a bandage wrapped on his left side, it looked different or so she thought, as she squinted her eyes you would notice something was playing at the back of her mind. . "Of course they are," she replied to Johnny, her tone tinged with pride. "Daddy has been abroad for treatment, and it seems to have worked wonders."
" Am glad you were able to answer me child!" Johnny replied almost in a whisper.
Wesley, a handsome man with a gentle demeanor, nodded in agreement. "Yes, and it's all thanks to my mother here," he said, gesturing towards me. "She found a solution to my sickness and took care of me." He softly passed his fingers over his bandage , a tangible reminder of the ordeal he had gone through.
"Wow, you mean he's a surgeon now?" Zensley, sitting beside Johnny, asked in awe. He looked at me with newfound respect.
"You didn't know? Zensley?, " She glared at home s brother," I told you, Auntie Jenny, we're here to celebrate my mother's success!" Kensley chimed in, eager to share the news with her.
Jenny, a kind woman with a gentle demeanor, smiled warmly at the couple. "I get it now," she said, her eyes filled with admiration for My accomplishment.
" I cannot sit still for long , what about ice cream?" Kensley asked ,standing up already bored by this grownups conversation, Then both of them wore this mischievous grins, tugged at their mothers sleeves, eager to explore the restaurant. Wesley beckoned to the waiter and asked him to find someone who could look after the twins, ensuring they were entertained and cared for during the adults' gathering.
With the twins safely taken care of, Wesley cleared his throat, a signal that it was time for him to share his story. It was a tale of resilience, strength, and the unwavering support of this small group who took care of his kids in his absence.
After the children had left the atmosphere shifted slightly. Wesley's demeanor seemed more serious as he addressed Jenny and Johnny, the two workers who he had insisted to join on this day out .
" I need as all yo have a nice talk !" Wesley said smiling.
"Okay," they both responded in unison, turning their attention towards Wesley.I just sat there wondering was I part of this conversation or not, maybe I should have followed my children.
Wesley paused for a moment before speaking, his deep voice filling the room. "Do you know me?" he asked, a hint of curiosity in his tone.
Johnny spoke up first, his voice filled with admiration. "Sir Wesley, everybody at West Miami knows you. You are the tycoon, the billionaire," he said before discreetly pinching Jenny, prompting het to speak up as well.
"What about you, Jenny?" Wesley turned his gaze towards Jenny, waiting for her response.
Jenny, slightly flustered from the unexpected pinch, quickly added, "I might not have seen you in person, but we know you are the indomitable lion of West Miami city," Jenny replied with a smile, her admiration for Wesley evident in her words.
Wesley then turned to me, seeking my opinion. "Sarah, what do you think?" he inquired. I shrugged and responded matter-of-fact, "Forgetting everything else, you are just my patient."
Wesley paused for a moment, taking in our responses. Then, with a hint of amusement in his voice, he said, "Okay, and all you have said is true. But allow me to properly introduce myself."
I nodded, indicating my readiness to hear his introduction. Jenny and Johnny exchanged quick glances, as if sharing a silent communication or perhaps hinting at a hidden agenda.
"I am Wesley Kane," Wesley began, his voice firm and authoritative. "I am your boss, the one you have worked for over the past three years," he clarified for Jenny and Johnny.
His introduction seemed to hang in the air, creating a moment of tension as we awaited his next words. Jenny and Johnny exchanged another glance, their expressions now a mix of surprise and curiosity.
" How is that possible? we have been dealing with the driver, he is the one who brought us to that Mansion, he's the one who pays us and he's the one who takes care of everything and we call him boss," Johnny was quick to condemn his words, probably not believing a word he said.
" The problem with you Johnny is that you're a Thomas you must doubt everything do you think such a man as Wesley when he speaks he can lie why don't you take care of your Patience and learn to listen other than interfere with what people are trying to tell you," Jenny whispered to him .
" He has a right to question, Don't shush him and it's true Johnny has never seen me, he deals with my lawyer. That driver that comes home, that brings you messages, that is always there in the house, knowing what is happening is my lawyer and my private investigator before both of you got into my house you are investigated thoroughly and I knew the kind of people you were and I was aware that you going to get well with my children and their mother. That is why you found yourself working for me.I do not employ anyone I employ people because they deserve to be employed by me," Wesley explained very humbly, his character right now was incomparable with his status.
" I,am sorry Boss,I speak too much sometimes, am happy and glad to work for you and expect the best from me!" Johnny was quick to say thank you and even apologized when wrong.
As Wesley continued to speak, I could sense a shift in the dynamics of the room. His presence exuded power and authority, commanding attention from all of us. Jenny and Johnny, usually so confident and composed, appeared slightly uneasy in the face of Wesley's direct gaze.
With his introduction made, Wesley's next words seemed to carry weight as he addressed Jenny and Johnny. "I have called you both here today to discuss some important matters regarding your work," he stated, his tone firm yet not devoid of kindness.
Jenny and Johnny listened intently, their expressions reflecting a mix of curiosity and apprehension. It was clear that Wesley's words held significance, and they were eager to know what lay ahead.
As Wesley delved into the details of their work performance, I observed a transformation in Jenny and Johnny. Their initial nervousness seemed to fade away as they absorbed Wesley's feedback with determination and a renewed sense of purpose.
Throughout the discussion, Wesley displayed a keen understanding of each of their roles and offered valuable insights to help them excel in their positions. His guidance was delivered with a mix of authority and genuine care for their professional growth.
" I think it's time for both of you to join the children, remember to taste everything they you have never tasted before, this is my hotel and you have a free pass everywhere!" Wesley dismissed them.
" Anything ,sir...rrr.eeh Boss, even if it's expensive?" Johnny asked, confused and stammering.
" Yes of course!", Wesley said waving them to go.
As I watched them leave, I couldn't help but admire the way Wesley had connected with his employees, empowering them to reach their full potential. His leadership style was a blend of authority and empathy, a rare combination that inspired loyalty and commitment from those under his guidance.
In that brief encounter, I witnessed the transformative power of effective leadership and the profound impact it can have on those who are led. Wesley Kane was not just a tycoon or a billionaire, but a leader who understood the importance of nurturing talent and fostering growth within his team.
" Do you need to order my dear?" He asked after staring at me for a while and getting me uncomfortable.
" Am worried about you, you are using your time for resting to address your employees and entertain all of us!" I said looking away.
" I cannot stay away from my family any longer, my biggest problem why I stayed away is solved, and with what I have witness from those children, I want that everyday!" He said confidently.
" So how are you planning to do invade our lives ,just like that, dome of us need a lot of explanations, we may seem alright but deep down I am depressed from the past and everything else!" I said truthfully.
" I know you have suffered, but remember baby steps, one worry by one, am your problem solver, everything will be clear soonest!" He said, reaching out for my hand and squeezing it.
" I would be glad," I replied trying to mask the electric current in my body with a frown .
"But why not come out , from the word go!" I asked eager to understand his reasons. I was not able to be mad at him , though deep down I was bitter for that night many years ago.
"I have something to say, first I was diagnosed with a rare illness that required specialized treatment," Wesley began, his voice steady. "and secretly you stood by my side throughout the entire journey, researching tirelessly to find the best possible solution for me!".
" How? were you to undergo the surgery and I happened to have a specialty in that area,I thought I was chosen randomly ,you had a hand in this?" I asked, batting my eyelashes.
" Not all of it, you chose the career and everything fell in place," Wesley replied.
" Am still confused, how did I help you!" I asked more confused.
" That's why I told you ,you were sent to me by the universe, our lives had to cross somehow, whatever you did it's like destiny, whatever you did was aligned to my problems and I was delighted to learn how good you were becoming , you were born a doctor,a surgeon all you needed was an upgrade to be who you are!" Wesley said with a smirk on his face. He was smitten by my nature and those eyes spoke volumes.
" I understand that alright and am glad we aligned, but why did you not rescue me on time!" I Insisted.
" I thought I was ugly, you saw that growth and how long it was, it affected my self esteem and I did not want you to see me like that!" He said shying off.
" Wesley Kane, self esteem of all things with the kind of success you have around you?" I said shaking my head.
" Yes, that's why all my efforts were rotating only around my work and that is the reason for my success. I do not get mixed up with a lot of people unless it's important,Since I met you I found peace!". Wesley confessed.
The table fell silent, both of us absorbed in Wesley's words. It was a story of love, told from a different angle of sacrifice, and the power of support. I reached out and placed a reassuring hand on Wesley's arm, a silent gesture of understanding.
"I couldn't have done it without you," Wesley continued, his eyes shining with gratitude. " You are my rock, my guiding light. And today, we celebrate not just my recovery, but your strength and resilience as well."
He poured himself a small amount of wine ,and we raised our glasses in a toast of honoring my dedication in everything that transpired between us unknowingly.
"I think time is not on my side ," Wesley said standing up a sense of gratitude and joy radiating from him ," at least now we are on the same side, I think I need that rest you have been talking about, and do not worry about me, I am okay take the children treat them to whatever they want I will be seeing you home soon !" He said, and the driver and another man came forward and took him away. I tried to follow them worried that something had happened, but these two stopped me. I stood there staring at him,my fingers crossed hoping he was fine.
Tears glistened in my eyes as I stood up and stared at him being taken away.
