Stranger in my bed.
I woke up to the sound of the hotel room door opening. I groaned and squinted in the direction of the noise, only to see Tamiya standing in the doorway with a mixture of concern and frustration etched on her face.
Lying in bed, my head was pounding as I tried to process the sight before me. There was a stranger in the bed and he was still asleep, oblivious to the chaos that was unfolding around me. Tamiya stood by the door, her expression a mix of concern and hurt. My fiance, Josh, joined her and they both lingered at the entrance. Staring at me like I had committed a grevious offence, which according to the scene in front of them ,am guilty already.
"Sarah, what the hell happened?" Tamiya's voice was tinged with disappointment as she looked at me, her eyes searching for answers.
I struggled to find my voice, my head still spinning from the effects of the alcohol. "I don't... I don't know," I managed to stammer out.
Josh remained silent, his gaze fixed on the floor as if unable to meet my eyes. His normally warm and comforting presence felt distant and cold. I watched as he turned and walked out of the room without a word.
"Tamiya, I swear I don't remember how I ended up here with this stranger," I pleaded, my heart sinking with each passing moment. "I would never do anything to hurt Josh or jeopardize our relationship."
"Good morning, sunshine," she said, her voice heavy with sarcasm. "I hope you're ready for the world's biggest reality check."
"Tamiya, what the hell happened last night?"I stammered, I was naked, tired and exhausted my mind was doing a race to fill in the blanks. But I had to concentrate on Josh,my fiancee is devastated and not happy with me.
"I wish I could tell you," Tamiya replied, her eyes narrowing as she glanced at the stranger in the bed. "But right now, Josh is downstairs and he's furious. I've never seen him so upset before."
My stomach plummeted as the reality of the situation sank in. Just two weeks away from our wedding, and I had managed to land myself in the most disastrous situation imaginable. With a sense of dread, I knew that I had to face the consequences of my actions, however hazy they may be
"Tamiya, I don't even remember how I ended up here," I confessed, my voice wavering with fear and regret. "And who is this person in the bed? What did I do?"
Tamiya let out a heavy sigh and approached the bed, her expression softening slightly as she looked down at me with a mix of concern and empathy.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized the gravity of the situation. How could this have happened? I had never been one to lose control like this. My mind struggled to piece together the events that led to this disastrous morning. The guilt and shame weighed heavy on my chest, suffocating me with each passing moment.
"I need to find out who this person is," I said, my voice trembling. "I need to understand what happened last night."
Tamiya nodded, her eyes reflecting a mix of concern and understanding. "We can do that later, he is still deep asleep do not bother him we will be back But first, we need to talk to Josh. He deserves to know the truth, Sarah."
"I don't have all the answers, but we need to deal with the aftermath,so which truth are you talking about," I said glaring at the person next to me , who had covered himself in his eyes.
Tamiya, her voice taking on a more serious tone. "Josh is probably downstairs call him, he needs to hear the truth from you, even if it's the last thing you want to do right now."
My hands shook as I reached for my phone, my fingers fumbling over the screen as I dialed Josh's number. The line rang several times before it went to voicemail. I felt a pang of desperation as I realized he wasn't ready to talk to me yet. Taking a deep breath, I left a message, pleading for him to call me back.
As we waited for Josh to respond, Tamiya and I attempted to piece together the events of the previous night. Memories flashed through my mind in disjointed fragments. The blaring music in the club, the hazy glow of neon lights, the taste of the potent drinks that clouded my judgment. I struggled to make sense of it all, trying to find the moment when everything had unraveled.
Finally, my phone buzzed with a message from Josh. My heart raced as I read his words, each one punctuating the pain and confusion that had consumed him. He didn't understand how this had happened, how I could have let it come to this. His message echoed with a pain that cut through me like a knife.
"I'm going to talk to him," I said, my voice wavering with uncertainty. "I need to see him, to explain, to make him understand that this wasn't me, that's the only truth I got."
Tamiya nodded, her support unwavering. "I'll come with you. You don't have to face this alone."
As I stumbled out of bed and hastily got dressed, " But You can remember we came here to celebrate your upcoming wedding right And then you started drinking I tried to stop you but eventually you got intoxicated," Tamiya tried to say ,but that was not important,I needed to see Josh.
" Things have taken a turn for the chaos to out of control. it was my Bachelorotte party ,not a day to spend with strangers,My memories are clouded with the haze of alcohol, and I am only struggling to recall much of what had transpired," I told her as I wore my shoes. I think I caught a speck of something like a smile on Tamiya's face. But I brushed it off,I was imagining things, my head was still very heavy.
"I just can't believe this is happening," I muttered, my hands trembling as I fumbled with my clothing. "How could I have been so careless? And where did this stranger come from?"
Tamiya's eyes softened as she placed a reassuring hand on my arm. "If only I had answers!" .
With a deep breath, I made my way downstairs to where Josh was waiting. As I approached, I could see the hurt and disappointment etched on his face, and my heart sank even further. This was a mess of my own making, and I knew that I had to take responsibility for it, no matter how difficult it may be.
"Josh, I can explain," I began, my voice shaky with emotion. "I don't know how I ended up in that hotel room with a stranger. I never meant to hurt you."
Josh's expression remained guarded as he regarded me with a mixture of disbelief and pain. "I love you and you do this to me? And who is that person in the room with you?" he demanded, his voice tinged with anger and confusion.
Before I could respond, Tamiya stepped forward, her presence a comforting and familiar one in the midst of the chaos.
"Josh, please, just hear her out," Tamiya implored. "I know this looks bad, but there's more to the story than meets the eye."
As I struggled once again to piece together my fragmented memories of the previous night, I recounted what little I could recall. The drinks, the laughter, and then the hazy blur of confusion but what led me to the hotel room?.
"Tamiya, do you have any idea how this happened?" Josh questioned, turning to my childhood friend with a mixture of frustration and desperation. "I can't believe that she would do something like this, especially so close to our wedding."
Tamiya's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, a flicker of panic passed over her features. "I...I don't know, Josh," she stammered, her voice faltering slightly. "I didn't know where she was until this morning. I promise you, I would never intentionally put her in a situation like this."
"Josh, I know that I've made a mess of things," I began, my voice trembling with emotion. "But I love you, and I would never intentionally do anything to jeopardize what we have. Please, give me a chance to make things right."
Josh's expression softened slightly, but the hurt and confusion still lingered in his eyes. "I need some time to process all of this," he said, his voice strained with emotion. "I can't make any promises right now, but I need some space to figure things out."
As he turned and made his way out of the hotel, the weight of his words settled heavily on my shoulders. The thought of losing him was almost too much to bear, how do I earn his trust?
As the reality of the situation sank in, Tamiya wrapped her arms around me in a comforting embrace. "I'm so sorry," she murmured, her voice laden with guilt and remorse. "I wish there was more I could do to help you."
I leaned into her embrace, the weight of my mistakes bearing down on me with an almost suffocating intensity. I admitted, my voice choked with tears. "I've put everything at risk, and I don't know if I can ever make things right again.
Tamiya held me close, her presence a soothing balm in the midst of the chaos. ", It gets better," she reassured me, her tone filled with quiet determination. "But for now, we need to go home Mother is waiting for us!".
" No ,first I need to know who was that stranger in my bed!" I said ,running up the stairs, I reached the room , I had made note of room number 808, I pushed the door open but there was nobody in the bed. I checked the bathroom empty too.
Tamiya came bustling inside the room ," Where is he?".
" He is gone?" I replied crying , I sat in bed and cried loudly.Tamiya tried to wipe my tears but I pushed her outside the room.
"I need to be alone," I told her. and I was not ready to explain what had happened at night with the stranger, If they knew Josh will never look at me the same again.
Tamiya banged on the door loudly and I feared we might attract the unnecessary crowds and the hotel management might come running. So I opened the door. Leaving the hotel, we made our way to Josh's apartment which was some meters away. The journey felt both endless and fleeting, every passing moment filled with the weight of uncertainty. When we arrived, I hesitated at the door, the words I wanted to say jumbling in my head.
When the door opened, I was met with the sight of Josh standing before me. His eyes were red-rimmed, his expression a mix of sorrow and confusion. I struggled to find the right words, to convey the torrent of emotions that raged within me.
"Josh, please, you have to believe me," I began, my voice strained with emotion.
"Sarah, I don't know what to believe," he said, his voice heavy with the weight of his emotions. "I thought I knew you, but this... I don't understand."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I reached out for him, desperate to bridge the chasm that had opened between us. "Please, Josh. I love you. I made a terrible mistake, and I'm trying to understand how it happened just as much as you are."
He stepped back, his eyes filled with a mix of hurt and anger. "I need time, Sarah. I need to sort through this. I can't just pretend like everything is okay when it's not.Go home I will call you!".
The weight of his words settled heavily upon me, the reality of the consequences of my actions crashing down upon me in waves. As he closed the door, I felt my world fracture, the fissures of my mistakes tearing through everything I held dear.
" I need to stay in the hotel,I cannot just go home yet,!" I told Tamiya walking back fast.
