POV: Alex
The weeks of preparation paid off, and the day they had all been waiting for finally arrived. Alex awoke in the early morning hours, feeling a deep sense of calm despite the occasional sharp pangs in her abdomen. She knew it was time.
She reached over and gently shook Mason awake. "Mason, it's time," she whispered, her voice a mix of excitement and nervousness.
Mason's eyes snapped open, and he was immediately alert. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Alex nodded, smiling. "Yes, I'm sure. Let's go find Riley."
They quickly got dressed and made their way to Riley's room. They found her already awake, pacing back and forth with a look of determination on her face.
"Riley, are you ready?" Alex asked, her own nerves showing despite her calm exterior.
