RUBY
I knew my life was at stake at this point. Mariah Anderson, despite her age, is still a fighter. Especially Stacey is a Gamma of the Glowing River Pack. Many questions arise in my mind. And I'd like to be specific. I wanted to know how Mariah found out about it and why they looked into me.
However, I was terrified for my life. They were going to kill me now because I was a threat to their lives. I had no idea I was a werewolf like my husband. I'd always assumed I was a pure-blooded human. Is my mother a werewolf, if this is the case? What about my brothers?
I'm perplexed. But the fear I'm experiencing right now is more powerful. Stacey and Mariah had no idea I was listening in on anything they said. If they saw me, I knew I wouldn't make it out of here alive. I followed after them.
My knees were trembling, and I could feel my heartbeat.
I can't think clearly.
"Something must be done, Stacey. I know my son dislikes her. She's completely useless! She can't even provide an heir for my son! Stacey, you deserve to be the Luna. Don't let that b***h become Queen after she realizes she's a wolf. I feel my son will give in to you sooner or later. You simply need to work harder to get his attention."
My heart feels like it has been slashed.
I believed they didn't like me because I was a pure-blooded human. That is something I understand. But now that I'm a werewolf, they have no reason to be upset with me. But why won't they accept me?
I've already proven my worth to everyone. I didn't bring damn in the pack. Even my own family had no idea Gareth wasn't human. I keep their identity hidden because I don't want a war between humans and werewolves.
But, instead of helping her son fix his relationship with me, Mariah urges Stacey to destroy my relationship with Gareth.
They didn't like me because I wasn't a werewolf, I realized. They dislike me because it is how they feel. They desire Stacey for Gareth. Everyone sees me as the evil one, the third party in their former relationship.
But it isn't. I am not guilty. I don't want to ruin Stacey and Gareth's relationship.
And it was Gareth who told me I was fated to be his mate.
I'm not the kind of woman who will destroy other people's relationships to be happy.
And Gareth told me before we married that his relationship with Stacey was over.
So why do I now appear to be the bad woman in this situation?
Everything I did for them was out of pure kindness!
With so much feeling, my chest tightens. I exhaled a sigh. Today has taught me enough.
I was going to leave when I accidentally hit the doorknob. It made noise.
Sweat beads gathered on my forehead. I'm screwed.
Mariah and Stacey were alerted.
"Who the hell is that?"
They were heading straight towards me. So I took off running. I was terrified. They have no idea I overheard their talk.
I dashed down the stairwell. I hoped to meet someone and seek help.
Stacey looked down at me. “f**k! That's her!"
"Who?" I could hear Gareth's mother.
"Ruby!"
I heard the old lady sigh.
"What are you waiting for? Follow her and kill her! She can't tell everyone her secret!"
I swallowed my saliva. My soul seemed to be fleeing my body in terror and strain. My bones are trembling.
As I ran for the door, I gave it my all. Stacey grabbed my hair before I could open it.
When I realized she was in werewolf form, my eyes widened. Werewolf form is nothing new to me because I always see Gareth in this form when he has a mission. And my packmates as well.
But this was the first time I had seen Stacey in this form.
'"So, where do you think you're going?" She grabbed my hair, and I felt like my scalp was being ripped off.
“S-Stacey,"
"I'm guessing you heard everything,"
Mariah Anderson, who is now in her werewolf form, approached me. I noticed their razor-sharp claws and fangs.
And I know they're not going to feel sorry for me. They're going to kill me.
“Help! Please help me!" At the top of my lungs, I yelled. I'm hoping someone hears me.
Stacey and Mariah just laughed at me.
"No one can hear you, Ruby. We're in the fire exit," Mariah said.
Stacey gave a nod. "Do you believe my packmates will help you even if they hear you? No. Ruby, everyone despises you as their Luna. Even if they hear you, no one will help you. They don't want a weak Luna."
Stacey's hand was on my neck. “H-Help…! P-Please, help...!"
"I'm sorry, Ruby. However, this is the end of you. You must die. Your death will bring us victory. You love your husband, don't you? You will let him go if you truly love him. You will allow him to be happy with me. Ruby, I'm the one Gareth truly loves. And I deserve to be Luna," she says.
My eyes were welling up with tears. I'm not sure why I have to go through this. My husband despises and mistreats me. The Glowing Pack disowned me. And now Stacey and Mariah are trying to kill me.
Why? Why am I forced to live this kind of life?
I'm a decent person. This is not something I deserve.
"Cry, Ruby. You can cry all you want. Because I will put an end to your pain right now..." Stacey said something in my ear.
Mariah sighed and rolled her eyes in the air.
"You talk a lot, Stacey. What exactly are you waiting for? Kill that b***h. We still need to discard her body and tamper with the CCTV footage."
I attempted to beg. I got down on my knees in front of them.
"P-Please don't kill me. This is something I'm not going to tell anyone. I'm going to leave Gareth and the pack. Just... please... don't kill me," My voice is stuttering.
I never pictured myself sacrificing my pride for something like this. But I don't have a choice.
"It makes me happy to see you kneel and beg for your life, Ruby. But I'm sorry. I can't grant your request. No one can know you're not a human! Your secret must be buried together with your body!"
“Stacey! Stop with the drama! Kill her right now!"
My body is trembling with fear.
"No... no... don't kill me!"
Stacey bared her fangs and bit my neck.
I felt dizzy and weak. Blood was flowing from my neck.
I attempted to shove her away, but she was too strong.
“P-Please..."
"You deserve to die, Ruby! Die right now!" Her claws sliced across my skin. I no longer feel the agony. My entire body is numb.
They have no remorse. They have no heart. They are capable of murdering someone solely for personal benefit.
I noticed Gareth's mother making a scornful expression at me.
“Wow. She's taking it like a champ. She impressed me,"
Stacey reverts to her human form. Her clothing is stained with blood.
Mariah gave me a wicked grin. "That's what happens when you marry an Alpha King, Ruby. You're not right for my son. You're a useless piece of trash," she said as she bit my throat.
Before everything went dark, I saw their nasty delighted expression...
Meanwhile, Stacey and Mariah debate how to dispose of Ruby's body.
Ruby Anderson is already a frozen body. Lifeless. Her skin appears pallid.
Mariah is simply staring at her son's wife. "Are you sure you don't feel guilty?" Stacey asked.
“What? Obviously not. Actually, I'm relieved she's no longer alive. We must now act quickly. When Gareth gets home, he'll look for her. You must dispose of her body. And I have to get rid of all the proof. I'll have my men modify the CCTV footage. Gareth and the pack must be unaware of this. Everyone should believe Ruby abandoned the pack and is hiding from her husband,"
Stacey nodded. "All right, aunt. Okay, I'll do my task now,"
The two women went their separate ways.
Stacey hired men to assist her in disposing of Ruby's body. While Mariah requested the assistance of her men in editing the CCTV footage. Nobody should know they murdered Ruby.
Ruby's lifeless body was placed in a drum by Stacey's men. They toss it into the deserted river.
Mariah was successful in editing the CCTV footage where Ruby appeared. Mariah warned Gareth's secretary, the guard, and the receptionist not to say anything that they saw Ruby enter the company. She cautioned them not to say anything, or their family would be in danger.
Everyone holds their tongue. Mariah and Stacey destroy any proof that they killed Ruby.
