Chapter 9: Where are we?

1055 Words
(Mia’s POV) It was warm and I felt safe. I wanted to just stay in this comfy spot. I slowly opened my eyes, eyes I hadn’t noticed I closed. There was a strong muscular chest in my view. “‘Who is this? Where am I?” I pushed against the chest and looked up to the face of the most handsome man I’ve ever seen.  My mind then caught up with me and I realized this person was the dragon that had come into the show’s tent earlier. The tall dark chocolate man with the velvet voice. “Why am I here with him? Why am I in his arms? Oh my goddess, I AM IN HIS ARMS!!!” I can feel my cheeks turn fiery red and I push myself away from him.  “What have you done to the tent and my friends and the show!?” I shout at him while pulling my hood down over my face so he can’t see me turn shades of red. “I didn’t have anything to do with whatever has happened to us. We were being attacked by what appeared to be demonic minotaurs and I was protecting us.”, he calmly responds while he takes a step back from me. Hearing his voice seems to calm me down and I breathe slower. I look up at him briefly and then look around us. We seem to be in some type of underground prison. The walls are made of stone and iron ore. The opposite wall has an opening into what looks like more stone walls. There is a door made of iron bars and the openings between the bars are big enough for an arm or a tray of food.  There are no windows and it feels damp.  “How the hell did we get here?” I ask him without looking back at him.  “I sensed some type of magic but I don’t know why magic was used nor why we were sent here.”, He says while finding a spot on the ground to sit.  “Why are you sitting? We need to find a way out. If I don’t find a way back, I’m gonna be in so much trouble.”, I say while walking towards the door. “Nothing I or we can do at this time. I don’t know about you but the iron ore in the walls are making me a bit weak. If I were to use my powers within this confined space I could hurt us both and I don’t think you’d want that.”, He says calmly still and looks at me with care and concern for me.  I don’t know him and he certainly doesn’t know me. I can’t understand why he’s being so kind and sweet to me. He is acting like he really cares for me. I shy away from his look and touch the iron bars.  My body feels heavy and drained. I quickly let go of the bars and the dragon is at my side in a flash. My body is not in my control and darkness takes me away.   (Ghari’s POV) I can’t seem to take my eyes off her. Despite the oversized cloak and her attempts to cover her face with the hood, I see her beauty. Glad to be a dragon with the site. Her scent is also so intoxicating in this small space. I have to use all my strength to keep Thor at bay. The iron ore in the walls is helping but it’s also weakening us. I’m holding her small frame against me. I don’t want to let go. I want to hold her and protect her for as long as possible. She is nuzzling into my chest and I really don’t want this feeling to stop. She looks up at me and I get a chance to see her sparkling golden-red eyes. Her skin is a shade of coffee and flawless but turning shades of dark red. She pushes me back and shouts out, “What have you done to us, the crowd, my friends?!” “I didn’t do anything. We were being attacked and I protected us.”, I calmly responded while putting my hands up in defense and backing away from her.  “She is so cute when she is angry. Her nose is scrunched up like a bunny-were and her small frame is trembling. I want to hold her and make her smile.” What am I thinking? I need to stop this and get away from her.  “Where are we? How the hell did we get here?”, she asks. I could listen to her voice forever. “I think it was magic but I don’t know how or why?”, I respond while finding a spot on the ground as my body and dragon are getting weak. “How can you sit down. We need to find a way out of here... I’m in so much trouble if I don’t get out of here.”, She shouts at me from the door but also trails off. I thought I heard her say something about trouble. What could be so bad that not even being in the cell keeps her from it.  I keep watching her as she walks towards the door. “ I don’t know if you noticed but the iron in the walls is making me weak. Also, if I were to use my powers I could harm us and I don’t think you want that.” She doesn’t respond to my explanation but instead grabs the bars of the door. I see her body start to falter and I rush to her side. I catch her just as she lets go and falls back. Her face is distorted in what appears to be pain and her eyes flash a bright violet before they shut and she falls unconscious.  “Told you to be careful sweetie pie.”, I whisper to her as I hold her once more in my arms. I lay her down against me and hold her. I hope she is okay. I also hope that our captors will soon reveal themselves so I can plan a way out of here.
