Chapter 11 going home

SUMMERS POV

The day went by fast, everybody had cuddles with Skylar I managed a hour sleep dispite everybody around. We all had lunch curtiously of my brother his friend owns a restaurant near by so he had them deliever what ever I wanted, afterwards a midwife came by saying I needed some rest and said no more than 4 people. Everyone ended up leaving except for Sean. My mum wanted to stay but my dad said they should get some sleep so there well rested for when me and Skylar go home so my mum left after my dad convinced her. Me and Sean decided to sleep when Skylar slept during the afternoon.

Now the Dr Smith is walking into the room again.

"Hey Summer you look better than this morning, how are you feeling now?" Dr Smith asks.

"Better after are talk and some more rest. Although I'm still tender from the stitches." I say.

"Are you still feeling very worn out? or just a little tired?" She asks.

"Still a little tired and worn out but not as exhausted as this morning, I don't feel scared of falling asleep just holding Skylar and more confident I won't fall after walking a little distance anymore." I say.

"Okay well I'm happy in allowing you home if it's what you really want but I will have midwifes out to you Monday and Tuesday. However the decision is still yours what you want to do?" Dr Smith asks me

"I think I'd feel better at home in my own comfortable surroundings" I say.

"Okay I will have the discharge papers all ready within 15 minutes, but I have one more pieces of advice for you" she says.

"What's that?" I ask.

"Follow your gut in how you feel it will serve you well and also its okay to turn down visitors at home your still needing your rest, don't let to many people overwhelm you by them all visiting at once or the same day. Friends always want to visit to meet a new baby but they forget how tiring it is for a new mum." Dr Smith says.

" Thankyou for everything Dr Smith, I appreciate everything you have done for us " I say

Sean thanks Dr Smith as well before she goes to get the discharge papers ready.

"I will go get the car seat from the car" Sean says.

"I nearly forgot it was in your car" I say.

"It's alright, I won't be long then we can get ready to leave. I will take you both home" Sean says before walking out the room.

I quickly text my mum and Karen letting them know we are going home this evening while I wait for Sean but the Skylar wakes up so I prepare a bottle. Then I pick Skylar up and start to feed her.

"You know little princess there's a big world outside of this hospital. It's very pretty but not as pretty as you are. I wish I could keep you as a baby forever, then you won't be able to grow up to quickly. But at the same time I can't wait to watch you go and learn things, discover the world. Catch 22 huh? Life is full of them alot in adult life so you stay a baby as long as possible. But don't worry any hurdles life throws at you from the wrong colours to maths home work I will be with you every step of the way" I say.

"And daddy to" Sean says appearing with the car seat.

"I didn't realise you walked back in." I say.

"Sorry, I ruined your mother and daughter moment but I couldn't help agreeing with with what I heard" he says.

"It's okay Skylar woke up so I thought it would be wise to feed her now" I say.

"Good idea a midwife just handed me your discharge papers on the way back so your both officially allowed home now" Sean says.

"I can't wait to sleep in my own bed and see the nursery complete." I say.

"I don't blame you there's nothing better than your own bed" Sean says taking a seat next to us.

"Sean I thought once I've finished feeding Skylar you can wind her while I get ready and her stuff out ready to travel home. Then I can get Skylar ready while you take all the bags and the balloons down to the car. What do you think?" I say.

"That's a good idea" he says

"You know Skylar looks just like you" Sean suddenly announces.

"She has your nose though." I say looking at Skylar.

SEAN'S POV

After I'd taken all the bags down to car I'd quickly rang my dad. He said the house was mine and I'd be able to move in by the end of the week after pulling some strings. I was so excited.

Now we are all walking out the hospital Summer is holding onto my arm walking slowly after we got out the lift, while I have Skylar all cosy and tiny in her carseat wrapped up in a tiny coat, hat and mittens with a pink fluffy blanket in the car seat in my hand. After all it's 22nd November to cold for a baby less than 24 hours old. So she had to be wrapped up nicely.

We soon reach the car and Summer showed me how to strap the car seat in. She decided to sit in the back with Skylar. I quickly got into the car and put the heating on. It soon quickly warmed up and I saw Summer taking off the baby Blanket in the rear mirror while driving. I was driving as slow as I could the whole journey, scared of jolting summer and Skylar if I drive to fast.

Once we reached what is now all of our street i pulled up outside my new house leaving the car running so they wouldn't get cold.

"What are you doing still few more houses" Summer says before I can say anything.

"I know I just wanted to tell you something quickly it won't take long I promise" I say.

"Okay so ahead spill what you gotta say" she says.

"Well see this empty house, I brought it today. I shall be moved in before the week is out, that way I'm only 4 houses away anytime you both need however I plan on seeing Skylar alot being her dad. I've also sorted time of work so I can be there for you both in these early days alot more while we adjust to being parents" I say

"You brought this house?" She says shocked

"Yes this house" I say.

"Well good luck with the garden" she says laughing.

"What's wrong with the garden? it looks alright from what I can see." I say.

"Not the front garden the back garden" Summer says laughing

"How do you know about the back garden?" I ask.

"Because I originally wanted this house first but turned it down when I saw how the swimming is full of muck with stones and mud one end with a crack down the side as well as rubble and rubbish from building work the other end of the pool. And tha patio slaps have cracks in also." Summer says

" Well I think I will be having builders come by soon then" I say as I start to drive the 4 houses down.

"That will teach you for a impulse buy" Summer says.

"It's worth all the issues just to be closer to you and Skylar, plus if your having a hard night you can ring me at 3am and I only have 4 houses to walk to help with Skylar" I say.

"This is because of my melt down this morning isn't it?" Summer says.

"Partly true but also partly because I want to be near by so I can be apart of Skylar life to, so I'm being selfish as well in some sense" I say turning the car off.

I turn round and look at Summer.

"Well don't think you can just walk into my house as you please" Summer says.

"That's fine but feel free to walk into mine as and when you want to, I will never turn you and Skylar away, infact I will give you a key" I say then get out the car to end the Discussion.

I open the car door to get Skylar out.

"I don't want a key though" Summer says.

"Why not?" I ask.

"I don't want to be walking in on you again ever in the future" she states getting out the car.

"I will make sure there's never any other women in the house I promise, plus I don't want anyone else. Give it time and your see for yourself, I won't do that ever again to you" I say as we walk towards summer front door.

"If you say" Summer says.

"Summer I didn't do this to upset you so please don't be upset with me." I say.

"I know, I'm sorry my emotions are everywhere I know you did it for Skylar" she says opening the door.

"No i did it for both of you" I say.

"There back" Sandy shouts.

"Mum why did you get the house covered in Christmas decorations already?" Summer asks.

"Because it's nearly December and I know how much you love Christmas, it made sense to sort it today" sandy says as we walk into the front room.

"Who wants Skylar?" I ask.

"I do" Summer says.

"Okay" I say get Skylar out of the car seat and hand her over to Summer as she sits down in the living room. The house looks lovely with all the Christmas decorations.

"I will be back in once I've got all the bags and balloons out the car" I say to Summer.

"I will help you" Kenny says.

I just nod my head in agreement and walk on out.

"Sean how was Summer and Skylar this afternoon? What did the doctor say?" Kenny asks as soon as we are out the house.

"Honestly Summer slept as much as possible and it helped. I made sure she ate some of the fruit you left as well and drank each time she woke up. The doctor says she is sending a midwife tomorrow and Tuesday to check in on Summer. I get the feeling she wasn't 100% happy sending them home tonight but thought emotionally summer would gain from being home. Summer seemed tired again as we left the lift coming out she took my arm for support to the car after that. And Dr Smith suggested to Summer to not get overwhelmed with friends visiting so not to many people" I say.

"Hmm, okay I will make sure to not let to many people through the door" he says taking the balloons.

"Did they say when the midwifes would be in what time?" Kenny asks.

"No just that they would come in and we should ring up if any problems occurs in the meantime" I say while lifting the bags out the boot.

"Okay then" Kenny says.

"Kenny, I know you hate me and I don't blame you if hate me to if I was you, Now having a daughter myself I already know I'd kill anyone if they upset Skylar. I hated myself for the past 6 months already but now I hate myself more. As a father now I'm telling you I won't ever hurt Summer ever again and I will do whatever she allows me to do to look after them both. Even if she nevers forgives me." I say.

"Your right I do hate you, but I hope you remember these words because if you ever hurt any of them again I will destroy you Sean. But I can see your doing the best you can in so little days since Summer came back. I also know my daughter and I can tell she loves you. Maybe one day she will forgive you but you should wait and be patient" he says then opened the front door to walk back in.

"I will do, I promise" I simply say following him.

"Are you staying for dinner?" Simon asks

"You don't have to worry about me, I will be fine to grab something later" I say.

"You can stay for dinner, after all I'm not going to send you packing straight away. You can spend abit more time with Skylar first I'm not that cruel" Summer says.

"Okay, then dinner is fine thankyou," I say taking a seat on the sofa.

"Okay well it's a lamb roast dinner and will be ready in to be served in 10 minutes" Simon says before going back to the kitchen.

"Summer me and your mum was talking you have 2 options we can either have Skylar the whole night so you can have a good night sleep, or we can take half the night each to stay with you for the night feeds. What do you want to do?" Kenny asks.

"I will take option 2 then since that's my only options" Summer says.

"In that case I will take first half of the night" Sandy says.

"Okay love but don't go letting me sleep the whole night, i want to help as well" Kenny says.

"I won't, now come make drinks while I help Simon dishing dinner up" Sandy says.

"Summer can I do the bottle feed before I go home?" I ask.

"Of course you can, actually do you want to take Skylar now? I need to use the bathroom before dinner." Summer says.

I take Skylar and lay her in the mosebasket.

"Can I also come spend the day tomorrow with you both?" I ask as Summer as she stands up.

"Okay, that's fine" summer says as she leaves the room.

"Did you hear that Skylar? mummy says I can spend the day with you tomorrow, it's good isn't it, although I will miss you tonight and be sad to go, daddy loves you though" I say before kidding Skylars forehead.

I decided to sit on the floor next to the mosebasket watching Skylar taking in every little detail and enjoy the newborn baby smell.

I didn't even hear Summer walking into the room.

I heard my phone PING and went to check it, that's when I noticed Summer walking back to the chair near us phone in her hand smiling.

I quickly look at my phone and see

Picture message.

I open the message up to see its me looking at Skylar as I was a moment ago.

"I thought it looked cute so decided to snap the moment for you" Summer says.

"I didn't even realise you had come back, I was do engrossed looking at her sleeping. Thankyou for the photo I love it" I say smiling back at Summer.

"I know" she says smiling still.

"Okay dinner is done" Sandy says bring in a few plates.

So soon. I think to myself I was enjoying a moment with just summer and Skylar.

"Thanks" I say to sandy though.

"It smells so good" Summer says and she is right dinner smells amazing.
