Giovanni Salvatore

NICOLE I stood in front of my mirror, staring at myself, all dressed up for my appointment today as a Director at my father's company. It had been three months since I returned home. It has been three months since my parents welcomed me back and two months since I started working at the office. I started as an intern as my father wanted me to get the basics and learn about the company from scratch and because I did exceedingly well over the past two months, he decided to make me a Director at the company. "Come in," I answered after hearing a knock on my door. "Good morning Miss Nicole," my maid Florence greeted. "Good morning Florence," I replied. "Your parents are in the dining room, waiting for you to join them for breakfast," she informed me. "Alright," I replied before adjusting my suit jacket. I followed her shortly to join my parents in the dining room for breakfast. "Good morning Mom. Good morning Dad," I said to them both, kissing them on their cheek respectively. "Good morning my princess," my dad replied. "Good morning sweetheart," my mom replied. "You look really good today. I'm so proud of you," my father said as I settled down on the dining table. "Thank you," I replied with a smile. "How are you looking forward to tonight? It's also your inauguration party and I sent out invites," my father stated. "I don't know how to feel. I'm just glad to make you proud. I mean, after what I did, it's only right to make you, Mom, and myself proud," I replied. "You know honey, your dad and I just want the best for you. You just have to focus on yourself as your happiness means the world to us," My mom said, stretching her arms over at the table to hold mine. I smile at her gratefully. My parents welcomed me back with open arms. They both consoled me while I cried for weeks. They tried their best to cheer me up and stand back on my feet. My father offered for me to work at his company to help get my mind off what I've been through and to become productive, and honestly, that was the best decision I made. I've become a better and stronger version of myself. I dedicated my time to learning about the company and taking online classes on business strategies, too. After breakfast, my dad and I left for the office. He was going to introduce me to the board of directors as a director today. I was nervous and also confident. I stepped out of the car, following behind my dad towards the entrance of the company. "Don't worry sweetheart, just stay calm and do you," my dad said to me. "Alright," I let out a small sigh. After the board meeting, my father then introduced me to the new Director. I got up from where I was seated to introduce myself. "My name is Nicole Anne Harrington, the new Director. I promise to serve and do my best. Please give me a chance," I said before bowing my head to everyone present in the room. Later that day, I got dressed for my inauguration party. My father invited everyone he knew to be present today and honestly, I didn't know how to feel but I felt better than I was three months ago. "You look beautiful honey. Stunning. Congratulations once again," my mom said, coming to stand beside me as I stared at myself in the mirror. "Thank you, mom," I replied. I arrived shortly at the place where my inauguration party was being held. There were lots of paparazzi, and as I walked through, they asked questions. There were a lot of people around already. I was feeling a little nervous as I didn't know how the night would turn out to be. "Nicole," my dad called as he walked up to me. "Nicole this is Shelly, she'd be your secretary," my father introduced a tall, blonde-haired girl to me. "Shelly, this is Nicole, my daughter, and your new boss," my dad introduced. "Hi. My name is Shelly Stone and I will do my best to work diligently," she introduced herself. "I'm Nicole. Nice to meet you and I look forward to working with you," I replied with a smile. "Come, Nicole, let me introduce you to some of the company's investors as you'd be working with them henceforth," my dad said. I followed my dad and he introduced me to everyone that I needed to know. The night was going well and I was starting to feel at ease, compared to when I first arrived. The entrance of a strong figure caught the attention of everyone at the event including me. Coming from the entrance was a tall man who exuded a powerful aura. He was dressed in a two-piece Grey suit that fitted his body perfectly. I guessed his height to be around six feet three or six feet four. I've never seen him before but he looked familiar to me. "Who is that man?" I asked Shelly as he walked further in. I noticed that some men walked towards him, looking delighted to see him and women fawned over him but he didn't seem to spare them any glance. It was as if he was looking for someone as he ignored everyone and looked around. "That is Giovanni Salvatore. He is a billionaire and one of, if not the most influential men in the country. He owns multiple businesses including shipping and airline business. He's not someone that can be easily seen by anyone. There is not much about his background as he keeps his personal life very private but rumors have it that he's not someone you'd not want to get close to. He's arrogant, cocky, handsome, and one of the most eligible bachelors in the country," she informed me and I felt my mouth go dry. I've learned a lot about business and top businessmen. I've heard the name but I've never really seen the face but he looked familiar to me. "Giovanni Salvatore doesn't just appear in public gatherings. He doesn't go to parties so it's a surprise that he's here. At the age of twenty-two he became a billionaire, expanding his business all over the world," she added. "Giovanni Salvatore," the name rolled out of my tongue, and just then, his eyes met with mine. The moment our eyes met, a smile formed on his face making me wonder if he was looking at someone else. I looked behind me to see if there was someone else but there was none. He was now walking towards me, his hands were in his pants pocket respectively as he strode towards me. "Is it just me or is he coming towards me?" I asked Shelly frantically. "It's not just you Miss Nicole. He is coming towards you," she replied. I felt my mouth go dry the moment he came in front of me. The first thing that caught my attention was the powerful smell of his cologne that filled my nostrils. The smell was soothing and familiar. How can someone smell so nice? Now standing in front of me, some inch away, I creased my brows in question, waiting for him to speak. "Nicole Anne Harrington, finally, I see you again."
