Delian's POV
I stared at the door. He was upset. He never really got upset when it came to the fact that he doesn't have a mate. I think he kind of came to terms with it.
"Why did Max just shove me and run off into town?" I blink as I realized Wes was standing in front of me. I roll my eyes at his lack of a shirt. Damn werewolves, always wanting to be shirtless. The males at least. I have no urge to take off my shirt and walk around because I, unlike my two best friends and the other guys in my life, have some basic decency.
"I told him he shouldn't ask out Theodosia because she has a mate out there," I say numbly. "s**t. Why did I say that?" I plop down on a chair in the main room.
"Because it's true I guess." I look up at Wesley, trying to figure out if he was mad at me or not. Even though they fight, Max is still his best friend.
"What do you mean 'I guess?'" I narrowed my eyes at him. "Am I just an awful human being now?"
"Of course not." I smiled a little at him. I don't even know how to feel right now. One of my best and only friends is mad at me. I basically told him that he shouldn't try to fall in love because he's not meant for anyone. "You're an awful werewolf." My smile falls instantly and I hit his arm.
"You ass! You're supposed to make me feel better!" I go to hit him again but he grabs my wrist, stopping me.
"Why would I make you feel better when you are basically abusing me right now?" I shrug and stick my tongue at him. "I guess we should go find him though." I nod.
"Maybe give it a bit. Let him cool off." He nods in agreement.
"Why don't we go on a walk. You look like you're in need of a mind clearing as well." I smiled graciously at him. "Come on, I'll even buy you frozen yogurt." My eyes widened at the mention of my favorite desserts, next to chocolate mousse of course. Sorry Aunt Lesa, your fudge comes in third.
"Let's go then!" I grabbed my purse and walked out of my shop, waiting for Wesley so I could lock up. After locking the door I turn around only to crash into a large chest. I stumble back and hit another chest, a familiar one. I look back at Wesley as he grips my arm to steady me. I give him a grateful smile and look back to the person in front of me.
"I'm sorry miss," the big man says. He smiles at me apologetically and runs a hand through his shaggy brown hair. "By any chance do you happen to be Madame Delian?" I give him a smile and nod. He lets out a sigh of. . . relief? I look back to Wes nervously but he squeezes my shoulder. "My wife has been wanting to talk to you all week but she wasn't allowed out of the hospital until yesterday." He shifts a bit to the left and it's then that I see a woman, maybe in her mid thirties, with long wavy brown hair, hazel eyes, and a heavily pregnant belly.
"Oh," I say stupidly. I look to Wes apologetically and unlock the door, holding it open for the couple. "Come on in." I lead them over to a couch I have so the woman can be more comfortable. While Luna Celeste was still pregnant I remembered she'd always complain after sitting on an even semi hard chair. "So what's the issue?" The woman rose an eyebrow.
"Why would there be an issue?" I smiled warmly at her, hoping to calm her. Her spouse takes her hand and gently runs his thumb across the back of her hand. She stayed a bit still but lost the glare in her eyes. Humans don't fall in love the way mates do. They're not pulled by a bond that almost forces them to love people. I've always loved that about humans. I guess that's why I rejected my mate two years ago. . .
No one knows, not even Wesley or Max. I tell them everything but I just couldn't tell them that. Originally I told myself it was because I felt like it would be rude to Max. Giving up on my mate when he doesn't even have a chance to have one. However, now I think it's just because I want something different.
Every now and then he'll still send me flowers and stuff, hoping I'll accept him. He doesn't get it. I don't want a love that was basically forced together. I kind of feel bad for him though. He refuses to move on.
I frown as I realize I was being a total hypocrite. I told Max not to date Theodosia because she has a mate somewhere out there and yet I intend to find love when that person could end up having a mate somewhere out there. I hold back a groan as I realize how stupid I was.
"Hello?" I blink and look at the woman who was starting to look annoyed with me.
"I apologize. Where were we?" The man clears his throat.
"My wife has been having a lot of trouble with the pregnancy and we just wanted to know if everything would be okay." I nodded.
"I don't even believe this crap Tom." The man, Tom, gives the woman a tight smile.
"Everyone says that she's the real deal." I smiled at this. Of course I am. I'm not like these humans who lie just for money. "Can we just do this? I'll take you to lunch afterwards. I promise." I moved a bit closer to the woman once she nodded.
"May I?" I reached a hand out towards her stomach. She nods reluctantly and I place my palm against her stomach. I grab her hand with my free hand and close my eyes, taking a deep breath.
'Send me answers Moon Goddess.'
I open my eyes and find myself in a hospital room. Nurses and a doctor are rushing around as screams of a woman go throughout the room. The walls are an awful white that bother my eyes as I try to focus on the blurring blue colors that are people rushing around. Their scrubs were all a shades of blue. I frown as the screaming stops.
"Is the baby okay," a weak voice calls out. There's only the sound of shuffling for a moment.
"We'll need to hurry, the umbilical cord has wrapped around the baby's throat." My eyes widen as I try to move closer towards the woman. A young male nurse runs in front of me, stopping me from going forward. What does the moon goddess not want me to see? I can't see past the blur of blue scrubs. These visions usually were blurred, almost as if they weren't certain but every time I had a vision it came true.
"Sarah, hand me. . ." The words started to blur as the image became a bit clearer. I shook my head. This hasn't happened before. What's going on? What does this mean Moon Goddess? Does this mean it's certain? Does it mean I'm getting better with visions? I frown.
"She's losing blood!" My eye widened. Is the baby okay? I walked around the nurses, towards the other side of the room. I don't know why, I just felt the need to. Then, I saw it. There was a plastic tub like thing with blankets on the bottom and inside there was a baby. It was still. I walked closer to it and reached a hand inside. So innocent. . . So cold. . .
"Time of death. . ." I whipped back around. The voice was of the doctor. They sounded so defeated. They mumbled the time and fell in a chair that was in a corner of the room, leaving me to see the sight of a woman. Her body was limp, her eyes cold, and blood. Blood was soaking through her clothes. I put a hand over my mouth as I fall to the ground.
I gasped as I opened my eyes. "Delian!" I looked up to find Wesley looking at me worrily. "Are you okay? You were crying?" I bring my hand up to my cheek, feeling the wetness on my cheek. I actually cried?
"What did you see? Is the baby going to be okay?" I look up at the woman numbly.
"There was so much blood. It was all over you. . ." Her eyes widen. The man steps into my line of vision and shoves Wes away from me.
"What did you see!? Will they be okay?" I shook my head as I held back the tears. Such an innocent life. . . It didn't even get a chance. "Sweet heart," he says backing up. "We should go. This woman is obviously just a nut job." I listen as they scurry out of the shop and Wesley steps back in front of me.
"What did you see?" I looked into his eyes.
"They're going to die. Both her and the baby are going to die." He frowns and sits down, pulling me towards him. "Why did I have to see that?" He kissed the top of my head.
"I don't know."
