Chapter 1Kyler He knew it was about to happen, just before it did. The gun in his hand vanished somehow, even though that wasn’t what happened that evening. By now, Kyler could almost count to three before the large gray wolf barreled him over and his back hit the forest floor. He stared at the massive creature restraining him against the wet leaves and moss with a large paw that pressed his arm down. Kyler looked into the eyes that flashed yellow, and felt a surge of something jolt through his system. Then the other, darker wolf was there, snarling, and panic engulfed Kyler. “Hey, you’re safe, it’s just a nightmare,” a voice said, and because this had happened so many times before, Kyler knew to open his eyes and sit up in the bed. The touch on his back was less hesitant each night.
