Charles looked confident and malicious. “Officers, if you don't believe me, you can ask this woman's mother. She can testify for me. It was Deanna who asked me out to meet her, but she's now accusing me. She’s just crazy for money."
Little b***h, what can you do now?
At the thought of Eva, Deanna looked down and a flash of light crossed her eyes. She almost forgot that her adoptive mother wished her to be depraved. If it weren’t for the fact that Eva had assisted Charles, Deanna wouldn't have fallen into his trap so easily.
If it weren’t for what Eva had done for Ronnie, she wouldn't have such a glorious future. Eva was one of Ronnie’s trump cards.
In the eyes of the outsiders, Eva had always been a loving mother who worked so hard to bring her up. But actually, she was Ronnie's birth mother and had used Deanna as a tool to please others for the sake of her real daughter. Eva would do anything to make Ronnie happy.
Thinking of this, Deanna smiled sarcastically. Very well. I will take this opportunity to destroy Ronnie's two trump cards.
Soon, Eva made a phone call to Deanna.
"Deanna, what are you doing? How dare you mess with Charles? Do you still want to be an actress?" As soon as the Deanna answered the phone call, she heard Eva's furious voice.
After a long silence, Eva softened her tone. "Deanna, don't blame me for being harsh on you. I'm forced to do that for the sake of your future. You're not in a rich, and you don’t have any special abilities. Charles is your only way out."
Deanna sneered. For the sake of her future? Eva had only been helping Ronnie to become successful in her acting career. Charles was one of the investors of “Ode to the Wonderland”. In Deanna’s previous life, Ronnie laid the foundation for her success with the fame she gained from this show.
Deanna was almost touched by the love between Eva and her daughter.
Deanna said sarcastically "If you really care about my future, come to the police station and tell them the truth. I was almost r***d. You’re my mother. Shouldn't you try to seek justice for me? I’m definitely going to sue Charles."
Eva found it strange that Deanna was being much colder to her than she was before.
Before Eva could ponder, she tried to persuade her daughter, "Deanna, if you offend Charles, I’ll lose everything. We have no one to rely on. Listen to me, just give in and tell the officers that you took the drug voluntarily."
Eva only heard the beeps on the phone as Deanna already hung the phone.
Eva was greatly shocked and her eyes turned cold. What's wrong with Deanna? She would always give in as soon as I cried before, but why is she so cold today?
If she messes with Charles, it would ruin Ronnie's future.
Charles knew that Eva would back him up, so he said arrogantly, "It's not too late for you to kneel and apologize to me. I won't send you to jail for the sake of your pretty face."
It seemed that he was giving her “a kind suggestion”. However, Deanna was sprawling out on the sofa and didn't even bother to look at him. Meanwhile, Christian looked very calm while he kept his hands in his pockets.
Seeing that he was completely ignored, Charles knew his threat was in vain and felt quite annoyed.
Christian sat on the sofa without saying a word and even fiddled with his fingers. His knuckles knocked again and again on the sofa, which could be heard by everyone around.
Even the officers dare not to disturb him. His impeccable face and domineering momentum must have attracted countless women.
He glanced at Deanna for a little while. He remembered that their first meeting was also at the police station. She had been timid and her face had flushed back then. But now, that self-abased and timid girl had changed.
It seems that Deanna doesn't get along well with her mother, but no matter what her mother is going to say or do, I’ll try my best to bail Deanna out of here.
After about half an hour, Eva rushed over to the police station. She was middle-aged but still attractive. She had silky curls, an oval face, and red lips which looked quite attractive.
Eva walked to them elegantly. She hugged Deanna and showed her concern for her. It looked as though she was a caring mother.
However, Deanna was better at acting than Eva.
She burst into tears at once when she saw her mother, making others feel like comforting her.
Eva treated Deanna and Ronnie quite differently. Because Eva envied Deanna’s birth mother, Eva had beaten and scolded Deanna since her childhood. She had even asked Deanna to beg for food in the cold winter.
However, Eva would do anything to please her own daughter Ronnie.
Deanna had been so eager for Eva's love and recognition that she would compromise whenever Eva cried in front of her. In fact, Eva had never treated her as her daughter or showed any mercy to her. If she had seen through it before, she might not have ended up miserably.
At the thought of this, a mocking smile appeared on the face of Deanna. She glanced at Eva when she met her gaze.
Eva was stunned by Deanna’s vicious and dominating look. Given her understanding of her daughter, Deanna was supposed to be acting obediently with her head down. However, when Eva looked at her again, Deanna had looked away and she looked quite relaxed.
It must have been an illusion.
Eva bent over in a panic, appearing as though she had done something wrong, and wept in front of the officers. "I'm so sorry. It must be a misunderstanding. Charles is a famous investor and is trustworthy. How could he do such a thing?
"Deanna, are you feeling a little uncomfortable because you’ve been stressed with your work and study recently? You seemed to have lost your mind with your stress now. You can’t even realize you’ve been talking nonsense here."
Eva secretly pinched Deanna's arm, indicating her daughter to listen to her. With that, she turned around and tried to drag Deanna away.
The officers looked at each other with a strange look in their eyes. This is weird. The daughter said that the investor tried to r**e her while her mother wants to protect the guy. How weird is that!
Deanna looked down so as to hide the look in her eyes. She faked a cry and forced Eva to loose her grip while Deanna held Eva's wrist tightly. "Mom, I'm fine and I haven’t lost my mind. If my memory serves me right, you were the one who reminded me to drink that cup of water. Does it mean that you and Charles conspired to set me up?"
Under Deanna's mocking gaze, Eva's smile froze. She then quickly tried to smooth things over by saying, "Deanna, what are you talking about? How could I set you up?"
What's wrong with Deanna today? She's acting like a different person. Is she bewitched by someone or trying to get my attention like the way she did before?
