After walking for about five minutes, they finally found the exact place where the explosion took place; the green grasses were now left in ashes because of the devastating fire. The menacing flames kept on blazing non-stop as the bright flame spread rapidly filling the whole area.
Every minute, the already wildfire kept on increasing supplementarily that they had to half-close their eyes in other to see through the blazing flame, and sometimes take some few steps back whenever the fire increases, cause they could feel the heat radiating from the wildfire.
"Is there... a possibility that my son... would be in there?" Again, the old woman cried out, her sentences punctuated by sobs, and her swollen red-eye was an obvious fact that she has been crying for so long.
It is quite understandable though considering the fact that Stephen was her only son.
Some group of women surrounded her; some gave her shoulder a light squeeze while others said soothing words to her.
"We haven't confirmed yet!" Replied Kath.
Everything still seems like a mystery to them, and up still now, they are still finding it difficult to put everything that happened a while ago, into an actual sense. How exactly did this guy in question, went missing? Not that, they were attacked by monsters or some ugly creation for him to suddenly vanish without any notice!
But, on second thought, has he been taken away by, The Descendants Of The Black Moon? Is there a possibility that they captured him without their notice?
"Let's wait for a few minutes. Probably, when the fire goes down, then we can confirm if he's in there or not. Hold on, I am not saying your son is in there, let's just wait for the fire to go down, and then, we confirm."
Kath turned to look at her confused dad who ran his hand through his hair. She shook her head slowly and folded her arms.
If he isn't there, then where in heaven's name is he? To top it all, he was probably behind them when that explosion happened so, just maybe, he's burning to ashes in that raging fire.
Just maybe...
Not to mention, the reason for the explosion was still an enigma to them. The sudden outbursts and explosion in the dark, where there is no light, were even more puzzling.
"What... what the hell is that?!" Those words had brought Kath out from her word of fantasy. She turned to see where exactly that voice was coming from.
Through the reflection of the raging fire, she could see a young girl standing behind her with furrowed brows and her eyes fixed at the scene.
She gasps and her hands cupped her mouth; her eyes widened in shock and were filled with skepticism.
She has been staring at that wildfire since ages ago and hasn't since anything that has given her such an expression.
She diverted her gaze back to the scene and the first thing her eyes caught up with made her jaw dropdown. Her heart jumped into her mind, and for the first few seconds, she went completely numb.
"What the... heck!" Again, the young girl said behind Kath as if he knew she was about to utter that same words.
"Hold on, is that a... living being?" This time, another person mumbled with her eyes nearly popping out of its sockets.
Literary, she was not the only one mumbling to herself, everybody was.
Inside the blazing fire, they spotted a figure walking in their direction.
His clothes were on fire, his hair also was on fire and even his body was on fire. But the funny part was that he wasn't getting burnt.
Yeah, right, they were now living in a world of hallucination.
"The king, that's my son; Stephen." The old woman voiced out with a mixed feeling of fear and excitement.
At this point, are they supposed to be glad that he survive the raging fire? Or if possible, run away because everything that is happening right now was no longer ordinary.
How in God's name did he survive that? Are they seeing clearly or their eyes were just deceiving them? This dude isn't getting burnt!
Compared to the raging fire, every normal person would have died ages ago and his body would have burnt down to ashes.
Everyone stood still, watching him. No doubt, they were really scared, but, they need not express how scared they were, coupled with the fact that he was one of them, and he also has played a big role in support and training.
"Can someone please help my son? He is on fire!" The old woman pleaded but, known of them took a step forward as they kept observing.
When he has finally staggered out of the fire, they could now see him properly. Truly, just as the old woman had said, it was her son.
His weirdly red eyes were so pale that they thought they were looking into a ball of ice. There is blood running down from under his hairline to his pale grey cheek and then, to his chin. Finally, the drops of blood settled on his body armor.
Slowly, he opened his mouth and his teeth which were stained with thick blood became so obvious. He mumbled something which at first, they couldn't hear nor understood what he was trying to say to them, not until he voiced it out, and they could finally hear him saying, "Mom."
Truly it was an emotional scene as immediately, his mom broke down in tears.
Yes! It was an emotional scene but, something is off. How in heaven's name is he surviving with that raging fire on his body? He's standing on his feet. Not only is he standing on his feet, but he was also walking in their direction. At this point, there is a huge possibility that whoever is walking in their direction was no longer the Stephen they once knew. Besides, the impossible can become possible since the Descendants Of The Black Moon are around the corner...
The people were so lost staring at Stephen walking out of the fire that they didn't notice the old woman has started running towards the direction of her son. When the king noticed it, he tried to stop her, but it was too late as she was now a few inches away from her son: Stephen.
Stephen spread his arm just as if he was about to give her a heartwarming hug, not until she got closer and, immediately, he wrapped his blazing hands around her neck!
The old woman's eyes immediately turned red and she started gasping for breath; veins popping out from her eyes, neck, and forehead.
He tightened his grip on her neck. Effortlessly, he pulled her up and her legs began swinging on the air.
"Stephen... It... it is... your mom!" The old woman manages to say with blood dripping out from her mouth; trying her utmost best to bring him back to his senses.
A mischievous grin crept through his blood-stained lips as he raised a brow and muttered in an unusual voice. That is definitely not Stephen's voice. "Mom? Oh, you think you are my mom? Your wish!"
"Rescue her!" The king commanded.
The soldiers nodded their heads, and immediately, some groups of soldiers started running in the direction of the scene.
Even before they got close, Stephen threw his mom on a very hard rock beside him, and immediately, she passed out, or more like, she died. He turned to look at the soldiers who were running in his direction and snarled at them as his fangs which they didn't notice until now came on full display.
Kath wondered if he just killed his mom with no hint of emotions on his face?
Oh, God!
What exactly did he turn into? He's got fangs, so probably, a demon or Vampire possessed him.
Hold on, if however, he gets defeated and died at last; that is, if possible: does it implies that, a Vampire or demon has been killed or Stephen, has been killed?
For God's sake, Stephen was part of them, and one of the excellent soldiers, they ever had, so are they supposed to fight with him now? Well, if it calls for that, then they have no other choice but to.
"Damn!" A soldier winced in pain on the ground as he uses his hands to caress his back head.
That's a sign of, "No progress!"
Stephen is grabbing the soldiers by their necks; throwing them on the very hard rock while some, into the raging fire behind him. Few of the soldiers have passed out already, while the rest are still struggling to stand on their feet.
From where the king stood, he could see him digging his fangs into a soldier's neck, and his left and right hands were wrapped firmly on the neck of two soldiers and they began gasping for breath.
Quite amazing! Stephen is dealing with three trained soldiers at the same time.
The soldier which he dug his fangs into, fell weakly on the ground and probably passed out. He held the head of both soldiers, slammed them hard on each other, and threw them in the raging fire behind him.
Now, they are loads of soldiers on the rock laying on each other, while others are in the blazing fire burning down to ashes.
How did be turn out to be so powerful? This is beyond ordinary.
Some groups of soldiers are running to the scene and Kath decided to join in.
When she got close, and even closer and was ready to pierce the sword in her hands into his stomach, he turned to look at her, and immediately his eyes met with hers, a shiver ran through her spine as the world suddenly turned upside down right in front of her.
Her sword fell off her grip and her head began to spin. She couldn't get a hold of herself as she held her head with both hands and her legs began to tremble. Even though she forces herself to take some shuddering breath to calm herself, she finds it difficult to do so as she fell on her knees.
Hold on...
What the heck is going on?
Why can't she get a hold of herself?
Something is wrong!
Damn!
She can't... breath!
