Dinner was a bit hard. We moved on from watching him as he walked outside to talking about the wedding. I wanted to go out there and see if he was ok. I wanted to know if there was something I could do or say, but there was a hard line that I knew I didn't want to push against until we were alone.
I didn't want him to talk if he wasn't ok with other people, aka my family listening in. I wanted to make sure that he was comfortable when I make sure that he was ok. He stayed outside for the rest of the meal, and I listened and gave my input on the ceremony.
We made plans to go shopping for a dress tomorrow afternoon and I was going to try and make sure that either my mate would have a good time alone... or with my brothers. Bonding or something could make him open up more. He didn't come back inside and I told my siblings that were here as well as my parents that I would just collect him and head home.
I walked out and saw him sitting on the deck. He had his hands on his chin and I got to the same stair and he looked up. "Are you ok?"
"Do you want to stay here? To live here?" He asked me and I was confused. I knew he couldn't be offering it, so I had to wonder why he was asking it.
"I'd like to visit and see my family as much as possible, but once we're mated I wont want to be away from you." I told him and he looked away from me and nodded slowly. "Is that why you didn't come back inside?"
"I wouldn't blame you. If you wanted to stay. You have a family that will miss you more from than just obligation. My brothers call me because they know I could be in trouble... your siblings will call you when they miss you or have news to share... you're more loved here. I wish I could give you a life here will all of them, but I can't."
"I have been here my whole life. If I wanted to stay here that bad I would have been upset when you told me the truth. I want a life with you, you are my mate. I want to be with you even if that means moving to the coldest part of the world. North in snow or away from civilization or wherever the palace in Russia is." I laughed lightly and I made a move, grabbing his hand and pulling it into my lap so I could hold it with both of mine.
"I've been out here... a long time right?" He asked as if he was just realizing that.
"Yes... your plate was put away if you still want it. My mom just wanted to clear the table before my sisters started dishes. Are you hungry?"
"Do you not have food in your little cabin?" He asked me I just looked over his face as he looked hopeful and I just nodded slowly.
"I have snacks. You know... Marshmallows, chips, cookies." I saw the smile spread on his face. "Sweet tooth?"
"Very big... probably the only thing me and my brothers have in common." He told me and he turned before looking out to the view again.
"Well... let's go fill you up with candy I have stored away." I pulled on his hand as he got up slowly. I went with him down the hill before going up and then through the trail of trees. It was starting to get windy and I could tell just by the smell in the air, it was going to snow tonight.
We got to my cabin and I bundled up a bit on my little couch as he used the bathroom. I heard him washing his hands so I got up and started to pull out all of my stash. I had lemon cookies, cream cookies, chocolate chip. I had the mini marshmallows for hot chocolate which I decided sounds very yummy. I got some water going on my little stove... and I moved on to get some other sweets down. I had caramel corn and kettle corn. I wasn't sure which one we would both want, so I waited until he came back out to me.
He had changed as well and I smiled as he came closer to me and sat right next to me. "Now, these are cookies?" He asked and moved to take a small package before getting the chocolate with cream and leaning back with me. He ate one in basically one bite before he got another and offered it up to me.
"I put the kettle on so we can have hot chocolate and mini marshmallows too." I told him and he smiled softly and I saw someone flashing across his face.. and I wanted to know. "Are we going to talk about what you had to walk out and worry about?"
"You wanting to stay here... away from me. I would be the one coming to visit you when I can." He said it like it was just a small thing, so I moved on a bit took another cookie before he did and nibbled on it. "Coming when you wanted me to, being here as much as I can. Your family... your siblings and parents are so different than mine. I went weeks without talking to my oldest brother most of the time. If Patty wasn't such a people person I could see that happening again."
"Is that he doesn't like talking?" I asked and he took a breath before turning and facing me a bit more.
"If I am right, which I feel that I am... he just doesn't know how to get to know us on a level that he was already supposed to know us on. When we are in front of other people... people we have to act like we are close so they don't pick us off one by one. We act like we love and care about each other..."
"You do love each other though. I mean... you're brothers. I am sure that Ivan is probably least loved, by you... but you have to love them."
"I do... but we're not close. I could not tell you a single thing that they like if I don't like it too. We all grew up on sweets, loving the chocolate and sugar... I know that Ivan loves women more than anyone. I know that Vlad had a girlfriend that was a maid or something... she died. Dimitri... he's going to be a good dad one day. I know because if my aunt and uncle were needed while we were all under 18 he was the one that took care of me."
"And Patty?" I didn't know the woman, but if she was going to bring the brothers together then I would be happy to do the same.
"She's a talker. She talks a lot. She has a brother I know about. She is more and more worried about the baby which means that she comes and sees me about things she thinks I know about." I nodded slowly and he smiled. "She told me that if anything happens with her and the babies... which is won't since she's only 7 months... she would call and bring me home."
"She's having twins right?" I asked and he nodded.
"And there is a chance she will give birth early, but not two months early." I nodded as he looked over at me and he smiled. "I am going to guess you want kids."
"Yes. A couple at least." I told him and he nodded again and looked over my face. "I do not want to surpass my mom in any way. At all." I added and he smiled.
"That would still give us at most 8." He told me and I just laughed.
"Definitely less than 8. At most... four. That would give us maybe 2 of each." I saw something flash in his eyes and he looked away before nodding slowly. "Would you like to wait until we were more into our mating. Like years into it?"
"With my blood being all alpha it's hard to say we can wait. If it happens it happens. Vlad is technically my alpha and he is already having kids so it's like open season. I've never been around babies, but I know what kind of father I want to be." He told me and I nodded.
We talked about kids, we talked about my interesting future name choices and he laughed a little knowing that his sister in law actually liked strong goddess names and was thinking about using one if she had a girl.
We talked about the rooms we would have in the palace, why we had to live in the palace, how big it was, how his brothers would be close if a siege ever happened... and that was when we got into talking about how close we were to Ukraine when we moved there. It had been a power move for them to expand their boarders when his father died just a bit and how they built an actual castle near them as an intimidation thing.
I had my almost gone hot chocolate in my hand and the other reaching up into his hair to push some out of his face. He was leaning in as I smiled at him... and then a ringing went off. He growled just slightly before getting up slowly and moving away from me.
"Hello?" He growled out and then he turned so I couldn't see his face. He started to talk in Russian, I could understand some and I wasn't sure why he was speaking in another language but then he turned and looked back to me while he was still on the phone and leaned against the wall with his back. "Da." He sent me a smile before he sighed. "Do Svidaniya."
"Hiding something from me?" I asked with a laugh and it was a small relief that he laughed with me.
"No. Uncle Dragomir speaks little other than Russian with us. He speaks a lot of languages... but with us we had to learn fluent Russian for him... he heard I wasn't home... and he flagged my cards and found out I was also in Romania." He told me as he came to sit back down next to me. "They sped up their trip early. My Aunt Ruby is from the same pack the King and Queen of Romania have their palace in. They are there now, and first thing in the morning they are coming here."
"That's about 5 hours away in good weather." I told him and he nodded before working his jaw. "Is this happy news for you?" I asked him knowing that I would be as nice and as accommodating as possible.
"You'll be the light in my Aunt's eyes... she will help plan the wedding, and the rest of the ceremony, she is also Romanian so she will hopefully know more than I do about traditions."He told me and he leaned a bit more and I grabbed at his hair, forcing him down and into my lap to lay as I ran my fingers through his hair.
"And your uncle?"
"Will probably call my brothers... get them here for the ceremony, as it is he is asking the Alpha King of Romania for assistance in security to come up here as well." He sighed out and I just did my best to keep him relaxed on my lap.
"Tell me about what makes you happy." I encouraged knowing that he was now stressing over many things. Upsetting his family or my family, upsetting me, his brothers all coming here before he was ready to see them again... he needed good happy thoughts.
"I am into robotics and lab samples and human medicine. I find their anatomy and simple cells fascinating … however I am not sure if that makes me happy. More like it keeps me occupied and out of the way." He told me and I just smiled and moved to turn my hand through his hair and down his back.
"Well... snowboarding seemed to make you smile." I told him and he laughed lightly.
"I like being with you, racing and seeing you smile." He told me this time a little more sleepy.
"Shall we get in bed since we might need to get a room for your family ready when we wake up?" I asked knowing it was getting more into the early hours rather than just after sun down.
We had talked for a while... and I realized we mostly talked about me and he would agree or disagree. It made me a little sad that he couldn't tell me one thing that made him happy. We got in bed after I changed and he cuddled around me again like we were this morning when we woke up and I was warm and content and happy.
I woke up this morning with a mate... and tonight I go to sleep realizing that he was a prince with some issues I would be happy to help with. He was my mate, he was given to me... I was going to take care of him and make sure he did happy things. I would make sure of it.
The Great Luna had given him to me... and I would make her proud in what I could do for him.
