Chapter 2Avriel I loathed feeding on random creatures, but at least twice a month, I had no choice. I was old enough now that I didn’t need to feed every day. But finding a willing participant at Club 42 was annoying and tedious, even if it was rather easy. The little lynx on my lap gave a contented sigh as I removed my fangs from her elbow. She slumped against me, her eyes glazed, but a quick assessment assured me I had done no harm. Vampire saliva had a euphoric effect on many beings. So much so that some of the more addictive personalities came to crave it. I was careful not to feed on the same person more than once. Excluding Cash, of course. I’d planned ahead, so I had juice and loaded potato skins standing by. Sugar, protein, and carbs were what this little shifter needed to feel
