Chapter 7: Marcos

1430 Words
When Demetrio finally gets downstairs, he looks like a defeated man with the look of death in his eyes. I knew something wasn't right when I saw Fae run down the stairs earlier, tears pouring from her eyes. I called to her, but she disappeared in the direction of the kitchen. "f**k! You look f*****g awful. What happened with Fae?" I whisper. Knowing that Patrick was just outside the front door. "f**k, Fae! I'm done." Demetrio says to me exasperated, not caring who can hear him. I shake my head at him. I almost tell him to stay behind but we need his tracking power, for our plan to work. And plus, he would never stay behind even if I asked him to. "Fine. Let's go. We will take a jeep to the covens lands and then go on foot from there, into the village." I inform Dem as we walk out of the castle.  Patrick and the Alpha are outside waiting for us. "You guys took your damn sweet time. It's getting late and we don't have many hours of night left." Alpha Damian says to us as we climb into the jeep. "Not my fault. Casanova over here was busy." I point to the backseat where Dem was sitting. "You f*****g know it," Demetrio responds, but not in his usual joking way. Alpha looks to say something but I shake my head and then give a pointed to look to Patrick who just went super quiet, in the driver's seat and was glaring ahead. Damian just nodded to me. "All of you be f*****g careful. I will have the mind link open and I want reports of progress every half hour. Is that understood?" He says to us through the mind link. We all respond and affirmative, "Yes, Sir" back through the link.  It doesn't take long to reach the edge of the covens lands. But Dem seems to be back to his old self.  "Damn... I'm feeling all Jeanie-like being this close to the magic," Dem says as he jumps out the back of the jeep before it stops. I roll my eyes, "Come on, Dem!! Cut the s**t out and get your ass back in the game." I say to reel him in. "My ass was never out of the game, Beta bro. Let's get this s**t done," he says starting to walk to the coven's lands.  "Hold up, Dem. We need to drink Kate's potion." I say holding up the small bottles, Patrick gave me. "This s**t better be berry flavor," Dem says, grabbing the bottle from my hand and dunking it. He goes to spit it out and wack him in the head, "Don't even think about spitting it out. We need to blend in." I say to him. "Damn....you guys need to get a r****d, that s**t is Naaaasty!" Dem yells. "Will you keep your voice down!" Patrick whisper-yells to Dem. Demetrio sobers up quick and walks up to him. I move to get in the middle, knowing this little tiff could go sour very quickly. "You! Never tell me what to do. I don't need your ass, bossing me around." Demetrio fires at Patrick. Patrick gets in Demetrio's face.  "Stand down, Patrick" I order him. I usually hate using my Beta voice. It's not as strong as an Alphas but it holds power in it and others respect it, especially a Delta-like Patrick. Patrick backs up from Dem but still growling. "Demetrio, leave him the f**k alone. Let's go." I say to Dem. Then I drink the potion. Damn. Dem was right, this stuff tasted awful.  Demetrio and I step into the covens lands. We make our way to where the market usually sets up. Kate told us where the warlock Nicolai's stand was and the plan is for us to sniff his scent. Dem will then use his tracking power to track down where the bastard lives. From there we are supposed to just look around and see if we can find some of his potions and get it back to Kate for testing. That will be proof that Damian needs to show the Magical Ministry.  We reach the village of the witches. It is similar to ours. The buildings are a little more modernized than ours but it seems like a small tight-knit community. It was easy to find the market in the heart of their village. Nicolai's tent was right where Kate said it would be. His name was in big letters on the board above his tent. Only a few witches and warlocks were about this late in the night, hanging around the bar on the corner.  None of them seem to notice us. We stayed more hidden in the shadows of the night and stood behind the warlock's tent.  "Alright, Dem. Do your thing?" I whispered to Demetrio. "Roger that, Boss." he salutes me and I roll my eyes at him. He puts his hand on the back post of the tent and closed his eyes. I remained silent while he worked his power.  "I got him. We go this way." Demetrio said quietly and I followed his lead.  We walked three blocks from the square. All of the streets were deserted and dark. It was a perfect cover for us. We turned on a street where we walked in front of large mansions. There were four on this one street alone. Demetrio led us to the last one on the street. It was much larger than the others with four pillars in the front. There was a gate surrounding the large property.  "This is it. He is in there." Demetrio says quietly. "s**t! How do we get passed the gate?" I wonder out loud. "Here let me try the box. Maybe I can hack it." Demetrio says walking over to the box.  "Since when do you know how to f*****g hack?" I ask bewildered. "Man, please, I got mad skills in many areas of life," Demetrio says with a wink.  I roll my eyes at him and say, "You are seriously the origin of my many migraines, man."  Demetrio laughs and continues working on the box. Finally, after what felt like forever, the small door in the gate opens with a creaking sound.  Hell! He f*****g did it. "Yep, never doubting your mad skills, Dem," I say as I pat him in the back.  "Can I get that in f*****g writing?" He responds with a grin. We quickly got inside and close the door halfway. We stay in the shadows of the grounds of the mansion. Luckily we see no cameras or sensors, so we are able to walk up to the house without being detected. We decide to enter the house through the back door. I try the knob and thank the Moon Goddess it isn't locked.  We quietly walk in and shut the door behind us. I signal Demetrio with my hands to go in one direction and I will go in the other. He nods and puts five fingers up, signaling to meet back here in five minutes. I nod back at him. I head in the first door to the right. Everyone in the house seems to be asleep because it is completely silent. There are no lights on and I can hear snoring upstairs. Must be where they all sleep.  The warlock must be an arrogant son of a b***h to leave the doors of his home unlocked, especially with such a large coven. I walk through what I assume is the kitchen. I see different ingredients lining the shelves above the stove. The kitchen is beautifully made and very modern. I guess I was expecting a fireplace with a f*****g cauldron in the center.  I roll my eyes at my own stupid thoughts.  Then I hear a noise and freeze. The noise seemed to be coming from downstairs. I guess there is a basement in this place.  I try to ignore it, hoping that whoever made it didn't hear me.  Then I hear another noise coming from downstairs, again.  Were those chains I heard? What the f**k is down there? I see a door on the far side of the kitchen. That must lead to the basement. My curiosity gets the best of me and I go to open the door. My eyes are already adjusted to the darkness and I see a long staircase heading down. But I don't hear anything.  Oh, what the f**k. I am going to check it out.  Motherfucker's potions room might be down there.
