CHAPTER 6
HAILEY’S POV
I took a bold move and went towards Henry as other men stared in daze each of them filled with the curiosity of whom I was going to pick.
“Hey angel,” I was flattered for I thought he had forgotten calling me that name. From as long as I remember, he used to care for me regardless of Will’s threats and he showed up at the right time.
“He chose me,” He bragged to the rest of the men before he dragged me to the empty seats nearby.
“Long time angel,” His voice eased to my ears as we took our seats. I used a moment to look around for Sandra and I was glad to see her dancing with some guy. She was clearly having so much fun.
He was still the charming Henry I used to know. His smile still made me happy and his toned body was doing great. Seems like he has not dropped the gym thing. His toned abs showed under the grey t-shirt he was wearing. He had recently gone or a haircut and that is why he looked so much put together.
“Some champagne please,” He signaled the waiter.
I stood there staring at him not knowing whether to tell him about what Will did to me or not.
“I am doing okay,” I decided not to let the cat out of the bag.
“How about Will, I am sure he must have married you by now,” I could feel the disappointment in his tone as he said this.
“Well,” I grabbed a bottle of champagne and drained it in a few seconds.
“Well, you drink now. You didn’t use to back then,” He was very quick to note.
“You are right. Things have changed,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Tell me more about it,” He grumbled.
“Well, I only realized today that William was cheating on me,” This words coming out of my mouth made me shed tears. The pain didn’t seem to disappear. It was intense as if I had found out about his cheating right now.
A single tear rolled down my cheeks but I dubbed it away as anger suddenly surged through me.
“He has wasted me. I would be happier right now with someone who loves me and will never hurt me but that is not the case since he has wasted my time and energy,” I started complaining as more tears left my eyes like water from a faulty tap.
“It is not too late, you know that I can never stop loving you,” He confessed as I shuddered at the unexpected contact in the mid of my thighs as a sudden strong current of electrifying tingles ran through my body from the tip of my hair to the tip of my little toe.
“You don’t deserve this Hailey. Just give me a chance tonight and I will make you forget him. I will make you feel on top of this world and after that, you will never think about Will,” Henry said word by word and since I had too much to drink, I did not think over it clearly.
I allowed him to pull me out of the cab and we headed to my house. Thank God I was the one having the key. I needed to forget Will and I was trying all that it takes.
