Chapter 7

*Nadia’s POV* I was pacing the bedroom that Kimberly had led me to. It was a very large bedroom. I have never stayed in a bedroom of this size. Not even in my former pack where my father was the beta. The bedroom was light grey with one solid navy blue wall. There was a large bed in front of that wall that looked so fluffy and comfortable that it made me want to snuggle in it. “Only if our mate joins.” Ambar purred. “Dear goddess. I can’t with you, woman.” I groaned impatiently when I heard a soft knock. I gulped loudly when I sniffed his scent. My eyes rolled back in delight as I felt a sudden heat creep through my body. I felt the pull stronger than before but I kept fighting against it. I don’t want to continue putting people I cared for in danger. “Finally.” Ambar sighed. “What?” I asked her. “You admitted that you cared for him.” She smirked, making me roll my eyes. “Did not.” I grumbled. “Did too.” She laughed. Before I could reply, another knock was heard on the door. A little louder this time. I sighed before walking to the door and opening it abruptly. The large smile that greeted me made me feel an unknown sensation in my lower stomach. I think I heard that they call those butterflies. “Nadia.” He whispered softly. My name sounded so beautiful coming from his lips. I was struggling with myself. One part of me wanted to jump on him and the other wanted him as far away as possible. How selfish could I be to lead him on when I couldn’t stay. It wouldn’t be fair to either of us. “Can I?” He asked as he motioned to my room. I mean this room that I will temporarily sleep in. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.” I forced myself to say because all I wanted was to have him close. Damn mate bond. “Please Nadia. We need to talk.” He said, leaning forward to cup my face. The tingling feeling from his touch made me sigh in happiness. Goddess, don’t do it Nadia. I quickly opened my eyes and pulled back. His smile faltered and I saw hurt in his eyes which made me whimper. I cleared my throat as I tried to compose myself. “Sorry. It meant nothing. She means nothing to me.” He explained, making my brows furrow. “I’m not trying to be an asšhole. She never meant anything to me. Even before I met you.” “About that.” I said, looking away before biting my lip. My heart was going one hundred miles per minute. I felt like it was beating in my throat. “It’s better if we forget this whole bond thing.” I said as I bit my cheek, trying to hold in the tears. Goddess, I felt an immense pain in my chest. Like I was losing a portion of my heart or something. “Nadia, please don’t say that.” He said as he reached for my hand, bringing it to his lips. His beautifully full lips. ‘Focus, Nadia.’ I told myself. “Alpha…” I was saying before he growled impatiently. “Caleb. Call me Caleb, Nadia.” He begged me. He looked so broken that I had to look down to my feet so that I wouldn’t give in. “Fine, Caleb.” I whispered. “Only because we need to do the inevitable.” I whimpered out. “No! I won’t do it. I won’t accept it! You are my mate!” He said as he grabbed my chin to face him. The moment I saw the tears leave his eyes, I felt like someone had kicked me in the stomach. I felt awful for hurting him like this, but what is better, hurting him and giving him a chance at life or forcing him to live a life of danger with me. The lycans were brutal. They were ruthless. And they would stop at nothing before getting what they wanted. If things were different, I would love nothing more than to claim Caleb as mine. I have even considered finding a way to leave my mother too. Of course, not in a dangerous situation. When Kimberly showed me the pack, I was convinced that it would be perfect for my mother. Once I knew she was out of danger, I would break our bond like my father did and I would continue this run on my own. “Nadia.” My mate, I mean, Caleb said, breaking me from my thoughts. “Please accept me. I will find a way to break the agreement with the Blue Moon pack. I swear. I would do anything for you.” He said with determination. I hadn’t realized that we had moved further into my bedroom. I looked around, feeling some kind of comfort with his proximity, but I just. I don’t know. I can’t do this to him. “I just—” I whispered, closing my eyes. “I can’t do that to you, Caleb. Maybe you should really make that woman your luna. She will bring you security, meanwhile, I’m just—” I was saying before he cupped my face. “You are my mate. I don’t care having to go to hell and back just to make you happy, Nadia.” He said as he rubbed my cheeks tenderly. “Caleb, I—” I was saying as he interrupted. “I-I-I have to. I have to, Nadia.” He whispered before crashing our lips together. ‘Oh, my goddess. Oh, my goddess.’ I chanted in my head as my eyes fluttered close. *Caleb’s POV* I couldn’t take it anymore. I was so close to her. So close to my mate and her scent. Then those words that she was saying were making my wolf and me tremble in fear. I can’t lose her. I won’t allow her to leave my side. It’s bigger than me. I was willing to do anything to convince her. If I had to give up my pack, I would. That is how desperate I was for her. I saw pain and fear in her eyes. I can feel that she wants me. So can my wolf. Nadia’s wolf is calling out to him, which is only making us more desperate to claim her. I looked into her beautiful eyes and I felt at home. I felt that she was what I had been missing my whole life. I couldn’t take her distance anymore. I needed to claim her lips. At least once, even if it earned me a slap. And goddess was I right. Her lips were everything. Soft, tender, delicious. Our kiss started off soft and it was meant to be a quick, soft kiss, but when our lips met. Caution and hesitation were thrown out the window. My heart was beating out of control as I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me. She returned the kiss just as rough before she pulled me by my neck. I growled lowly against her lips as she released a moan. At that moment, I used my tongue to caress her warm, delicious mouth. It was everything. The sparks, her scent, her desire. I can feel it in the bond. I could smell her arousal, which only intensified her scent. I was running out of breath and I knew I had to pull away before I did something that I would regret. As hard as it was, I pulled away, but not before biting on her bottom lip. When I opened my eyes, she was standing with her eyes closed as her hands traced her swollen lips. “Wow.” She whispered, making me smile. “Wow, is an understatement.” I told her as I rubbed her beautiful lips with my thumb.
