3. Alias

I beat her to the car. She walked out of the building a minute later and she sighed when she saw me, leaning against her car.                "You always like showing up to my job unannounced?" I asked her. "What would your man think?"               She approached me and huffed.               "He's not my man." She told me. "Besides, since when did you care about who I was dealing with?"               "Look, I don't care who you drop your panties for. Just keep that s**t away from Alias."               "Wow, just wow."               She shook her head and walked to the driver's side of the car. I followed behind her and pulled her away from the door. She tried to pull away from me, but I held her close.                "Kain, stop!" She shouted at me. "Let me go!"                           I released her and she turned to face me. There was a reason she came today.                 "Why did you come?" I asked her. "Unless it's about Alias, you should not be here."                      She sighed deeply and she gave me her answer.                "Dale can't handle his nephew?" I asked her.                "He's not listening to nobody." Naomi finally broke down. "He attacked me earlier today and Dale's words can only go so far. He's starting to rebel against him as well. He needs you."               I placed my hands in both of my pants' pockets and continued to look at her.              "I thought Dale wanted to be a father?" I asked her. "Changed his mind?"              "Kain, stop doing that please? You're his true father. Everybody knows that, including Dale. Please, help me with him."                    I nodded my head and walked back to the office.             "Kain!" Naomi shouted my name.             "Bring him here tomorrow. I'll keep him for the day."             I headed inside the building to finish the paperwork.  **              The Next Day…              "Okay, so I filled out the paperwork for the blood banks and faxed it over to the states." I told my employees. “Hopefully, they'll let me know by tomorrow what their decisions are."’     “And what if they decline your application?" Bernie asked me with a raised eyebrow.           "Bernie, you seem doubtful." Kieran remarked.                       Bernie drummed his pen on the table while in deep thought.           "You seem to have a lot of faith in these humans." Joanne said, puffing on a cigarette. "How do you know they'll work with you?"          I was ready to snap at Joanne, but the door to the meeting room opened up. Naomi walked in and right behind her was Alias. Everybody in the room turned to her and I could feel her discomfort.          "You want me to take over?" Kieran asked me.         "Yeah." I told him.         Kieran got up and I walked to the back of the room. I opened the door to the room and escorted Naomi and Alias out. The three of us walked to my office and I unlocked the door to the room.          "Go in." I told her.          She tried to grab Alias's hand, but he snatched away from her. He seemed upset about something.          "Alias, come on." She begged. "Please, don't start this."                  Alias walked into the room and Naomi sighed before she walked into my office. I walked in and closed the door behind us. I headed to my desk and took a seat in my chair. The room was quiet for a second. I looked at Naomi and noticed a bandage on her neck.        "What happened to your neck?" I asked her.        She looked at me before her eyes traveled to Alias. That's all she had to say. My attention traveled to Alias who was looking around the office. When his eyes landed on mines, he quickly looked away.         "Alias?" I called his name.        His red eyes lifted up to mines. f**k, he looked exactly like me. He had a mixed complexion with light freckles and his eyes were the same color as mines.        "I'm surprised he's not mean to you." Naomi's voice cracked when she said that. "I have to deal with an attitude everyday. Dale is trying hard as well, but-."        "I hate him." Alias announced in a cold tone. "I hate him and I hate you."        Something was wrong. The heat that radiated off of Alias was not normal for a child his age.          "What did I do to make you hate me?" Naomi asked him.              Alias said nothing more, but he made eye contact with me. I leaned back in my seat and looked over at Naomi. She glanced at me and rolled her eyes.           "What?" I asked her.          "Really?" She asked me. "I brought him here so you could talk to him, Kain. He's not listening to me at all."           "Well, what did you expect? A mortal trying to tame a half-vampire child can only go so much. As he gets older, he rebels against you. Yeah, you're his mother, but you're weak as f**k in his eyes."             Naomi rubbed the side of her temple, stressed about the whole situation. Alias folded his arms over his chest and glanced down at the ground.             "I'm thirsty." He said.            "Blood?" I asked him.           His eyes shot up to mines again. He gave me a small smile that came with a nod. I got up from the chair and opened the door. Kieran walked up to me and I moved so he could come in.          "Look at him." Kieran said. "He's your twin, Kain."         "Do me a favor, Kieran." I said to my brother. "I need to have words with his mother, so can you get him something in his stomach for me?"         "Of course."         Kieran reached for Alias's hand and Alias just sat there staring at it. He was not trying to budge at all with his uncle. Kieran looked at me and I sighed.          "Alias?" I called his name, sternly.         Alias turned to me and I motioned for him to come to me. He hopped off the chair and rushed to me.            "I'll take him." I said.        With Alias on my side, the two of us walked out of my office. We headed down to the small cafeteria room and headed to the refrigerator where we kept the stored blood bags. I handed a bag to Alias and I took one for myself. I opened mines up and began to drink. My eyes traveled to Alias, who was just staring at me. The bag I gave him was still intact.          "Open it." I told him.         He shook his head and handed the bag to me. I sighed, cutting the top of the bag with my nail. He gasped and placed his mouth over the cut, drinking the sweet nectar as fast as he could.        "How cute, father and son." Bernie said as he and Joanne appeared into cafeteria with everybody else.       I kept my eyes on Alias. His eyes turned a dark red as he fed. Bernie walked over to us and placed his hand on the top of Alias's head. Alias stood there, drinking, but he turned his attention to Bernie.        "Where is the brother fucker at?" Joanne huffed.       I knew she was talking about Naomi. The funny thing is, Dale was not her biological brother through birth. Naomi was born by birth through her mother's womb. Dale's vampirism came through her bite. She turned him and gave him her last name. That's what happens when a vampire is created through bite.       "Still don't like her, huh?" I asked her.       "f**k her. That b***h still owes me money for my f*****g dress."      The door to the cafeteria opened up and Naomi and Kieran walked in.      "Speaking of the bitch." Joanne remarked.      "Do you want another drink on you?" Naomi threatened.      "Try it and I promise you, your son will witness death for the first time of his little life."       The two eyed each other. Naomi walked over to Alias and tried to grab his hand, but he snatched from her and went to the other side of me.       "Alias, let's go." Naomi demanded.       "No, I want my daddy!" He shouted.        "Smart kid." Joanne huffed.       "f**k you, Joanne!" Naomi shouted at her.       Joanne grabbed Alias by the hand and pulled him to her. That hurt Naomi harder than Joanne's words did. Naomi turned to me and I looked over to Alias.       "Alias." I said his name.      Alias glanced up at me and he walked towards me with his blood packet still close to his mouth.      "You're going to stay with me for the week." I told him.       He pulled the packet from his mouth and gave me a smile that showed off his two canines.        "Kain, he's not staying with you for a week." Naomi told me.       "He can and he will."       Alias hugged my leg, making sure I was not able to leave his side. Naomi smacked her lips and shook her head at me.       "You can go." I told her.       "You know I can't do that." She said. "I want my son with me."       "Then, you can stay with him."       "Unless you want to go back to f*****g on your brother." Joanne said.               I picked Alias up and walked out of the cafeteria. Naomi caught up to me and cut me off.       "Did you tell them I f****d him?" She asked me. "'Why do they think f****d Dale?"       "Because they know you moved out of the house to stay with him." I told her.       "Do you think I did?"      I stopped walking and stared at her.      "Look, I don't give a f**k whether you gave it up to him or not." I told her. "Just keep that s****l s**t away from Alias and we're good. Do I make myself clear?"      "I didn't f**k him, Kain."      "Well that make out session you had could've fooled me."       Naomi walked towards me and she placed her mouth close to my ears.        "You're just mad your lips wasn't on me." She whispered.       "That's what you think?"       "I know."              I chuckled. The next thing that left my mouth had her speechless.       "Just like I knew when he ate you that other day at his house?"       She stopped talking and looked the other way.       "Yeah, so I suggest you hold that mouth of yours before I stuff something in it. Or did he do that as well?"        I walked around her and headed back to my office with our son in my arms.        "Be at my house or keep your ass at home!" I shouted at her. "Your choice!"
