Thirteen

  Luke ate quietly the breakfast Reina made. That young girl was now sitting beside him.

 "I warn you that she must be suspicious of you. She's a detective. She must have sensed something strange," she said after hearing Luke's story about his last night's meeting with Sabrina.

  No doubt there is jealousy stabbed in the chest. In the past, she also had a crush on Luca. Growing up and being brought up together made her have more feelings for this man, but Luke always insisted that he only thought of Reina as a sister. Reina also fully understands their life has made Luke know no love, but now he is approaching a girl. Although not because of he has love to her, but Reina was not able to shake off the jealousy that was churning in her chest.

  "Don't worry! I've made her completely trust me. Sabrina may be a brilliant detective, but she's still a woman. She needs to be loved and I'll give her that."

  Reina was silent again. She knew Luca was just lie to Sabrina. That man never really understood love. He was raised to take someone's life heartlessly. However, her anxiety remains. After all, Luke is not a rock, despite his lack of love, Luca is still an ordinary human. The heart can melt and the feeling can grow.

  "That's too risky. You must be thinking again to doing that. It's may come with danger for us." persuaded Reina once again. Her little heart really hoped Luke would change his mind.

   Luke shook his head.

"I won't think again. You calm down. Everything will be fine."

The young man then smiled. Not knowing the feelings of the girl beside him were getting mixed up.

   'Although he never thought of me as more than just a sister, but I still hope that one day he will understand. I don't want feelings that should be mine to be owned by other girls' whispered Reina in her heart.

'Am I wrong and too selfish?'

  Kanaya and Sabrina are trying to get rid of the personal problems that are weighing on their brains, because now there are other more important issues. Mr. Iwan is awake!

The old man felt unsafe in the hospital after learning of the attack that happened to him. Sabrina and Kanaya devise a strategy to get Pak Iwan out safely, because they are afraid that the killer will act recklessly and take the opportunity to attack again.

After discussing for a long time, the strategy was finally implemented.

  Mr. Iwan is not an ordinary person. The news of his recovery spread uncontrollably. Many the journalists and public came to see. This is what the officers are worried about, anyone can sneak in to injure Mr Iwan and cause chaos.

When their awaited person came out wearing a face covering and a hospital gown. The atmosphere is getting busier. Everyone was jostling to get closer.

  A nurse was seen walking over. The young man tried to calm the commotion and pave the way. However, he suddenly turned around and attacked Mr. Iwan who was in a wheelchair with the injection he brought. The atmosphere turned even more chaotic. People look panicked. The man who was in a wheelchair managed to escape, it turned out that he was not Mr. Iwan, but an undercover officer.

  The young man who had attacked looked frightened and rushed to run away. The security guards immediately gave chase.

  "Come on! Don't let him escape or be reckless!" said Sabrina while rushing to catch up. They were worried that the person who wanted to kill Pak Iwan would return to being reckless like the previous nurse who chose to jump from the top floor instead of being caught.

   The young man ran aimlessly. He then saw the emergency staircase room and immediately headed for it. The young man hurriedly ran down the stairs. His steps stopped when he saw a tall person waiting.

    "You've failed!!!" said that person.

"And that means you have to die!"

    "I-I'm sorry! I ... please forgive me!" asked the young man in a voice trembling with fear. His body was shaking violently and he was sweating profusely.

    The person in front of him just smiled and shook his head. Feeling the futility of pleading for his life to be spared, the young man rose to flee. However, the fear that had already overtaken him, actually made him not be careful and fell after a few steps. The mysterious figure smiled wider with a knife drawn in his right hand.

    "Aaakkhhh!!!"

A loud scream full of pain and fear resounded. Sabrina and the others immediately approached. At first, they had lost track of the person they were chasing. Now, everyone rushed to the emergency stairs.

Sabrina almost screamed in horror when she saw the person they were hunting was lying on one of the steps with her legs and arms dangling. Blood flowed profusely from the poor young man's body. Down one by one rung in the ladder.

    'Late! We're late again!' Sabrina complained in her heart.

    Luke stood in the front yard of the hospital shaking his head.

   'A fool. They were deceived again. Should I step in this time and send that bad guy to hell?' he said to himself as he looked at the vehicle that took Mr. Iwan away.

   Sabrina was sitting dumbfounded. She was surprised when she saw Luke coming over.  

   "Are you fine?" asked the young man in a worried tone.

   The girl nodded.

"Why are you here?" she then asked.

"Just like the others, I came just to watch, but then I saw you too. You're really great!" said Luca while giving a thumbs up.

   "Are you making fun of me? A young man died because I failed. I'm a lousy detective."

   "However, the person who was about to be killed survived. That means you succeeded, and I don't mean to mock, earlier when I saw you leading and giving orders to the bigger guys, you were truly extraordinary."

   "Stop praising me. I still feel like a failure because a life has been lost."

   "But it's not your fault! The killer is really smart and has thought of it all. Now, I'm just worried what if you confronted the killer?"

   "What? You want me to scare to him?"

   Luke smiled as he shook his head.

"No! If the assassin comes, I will protect you."

"Luke, stop it! Don't say things like that! You won't be able to face that vicious killer."

   The man gripped Sabrina's hand tightly.

"I'm serious! I will protect you, Sabrina," he said as he looked directly into that girl's eyes.
