Tan did not bother to approach Carol after spotting her with another man to confront her about what he had seen. He is not like other men who would make a scene if they saw their lady with someone else. He has a unique perspective. If he saw his wife with someone else, he would immediately depart without saying anything else. He won't listen to her explanations any longer. He already has enough evidence from what he witnessed to conclude that she does not love him, and possibly never did.
