Chapter One
"I would suggest that you should take a break from holding your phone all day and go out sometimes. Do you think you'll win over snow white?" her mother said as she opened the door to her room.
"Here you are again, Mom. I told you for the 'nth' time that I don't want to. Besides, I don't feel bored being ay home all day. Why are you trying to push me to outside when I don't want to." Ciara replied, her gaze fixed on her phone. She's been scrolling and drooling over pictures of the man she loves for a long time.
As she lay down in her room, she was preoccupied with the pictures of Tristan Hamilton. Yes. Tristan Hamilton is the man she's been in love with for nearly five years. A well-known son of a business man. A very attractive man with an abundance of s*x appeal. Any woman would want him for the rest of her life.
Her parents and Tan's parents are close friends, so they know each other, but they're not close. When she and her parents go to Tan's house, she tries talking to him several times but he doesn't even look at her. He simply ignores her presence and continues to demonstrate that he is uninterested in her.
"You really like him that much?" her father asked behind her, and she nearly died of surprise.
"Dad!" she exclaimed, surprised. She takes a deep breath and touches her chest. Her father laughed at her outburst.
"Why?" he mockingly asked.
"You got me shock. You almost gave me a heart attack. Can you please not do that next time? You're scaring the hell out of me." she said, pouting her lips and stomping her feet on the ground like a little girl.
"It's because I called your name a couple of times already but you didn't answer me nor look back. I thought you were into something much more important than giving me an answer but look what you're doing. Hmmm. Stalking him again, eh?" Her father mocked her.
"Stalking is kind of creepy, Dad. I'm not stalking him. I was just trying look at his pictures ." she replied, rolling her eyes at her father. In their living room, she sat on the couch.
Yes. She already understands. There's no need to slap it in her face. She already knows that the man can't be hers for the rest of her life because he has someone else. She felt sorry for herself. What's the matter with her? She already has everything. She's beautiful, hot, drop dead gorgeous, intelligent, famous, and wealthy. But she can't figure out why the man dislikes her. Her expression changed as she considered this. It became depressing, and she had no idea her father was aware of it.
"But I have notice since the last time that you were looking at the same picture over and over again since the last time. Do you really like him that much?" Her father inquired solemnly. She fixed her gaze on him sadly.
She doesn't just simply like him, she loves him more than her Dad could ever know.
She simply nodded her head at her dad's question. "Like is not that word that. I don't like him at all. Love is the right term for what I am feeling." She explained
Her father's eyebrows arch at what she said. "How can you say it's love? Do you even know how it's done?" He asked her which made her stop and stare at her father.
"I do?" She said, not sure about her answer. "You know that he keeps ignoring me right, even know he knows my feelings towards him but even though he's like that towards me, I'm fine with it as long as I see him every time and I can express my feelings for him." She was smiling when she said that.
Her father sigh. "But don't fall in love with him deeper, honey. It pains me seeing you like this. Maybe you try liking someone else for now?"
She rolled her eyes after what her father said.
"Really, Dad? After hearing what I just said? You're making me like other person after knowing my love story? I was really doubting that you're my Dad." She exclaimed but it was some kind of a joke for her Dad.
Her father laughed at what she said and so do she.
"You're over reacting, sweetie. I didn't said that you should do it. I was just trying to give you other option." her father said, shaking his head and laughing. She was amused by his reaction.
"I know right, Dzuh. Duhh!" she replied, rolling her eyes mockingly, which made her father laugh even harder.
"You're too naughty, sweetie."
"You're naughty also, Dad. That's why I'm naughty because you're my Dad. ." She gave her father a big smile.
"So you're basically saying that you took it from me?." he asked, rising from the couch. "By the way, have you seen you Mom?" he inquired.
"I saw her earlier but now, I didn't. Why? You're going somewhere? Mind if I tag along?" she inquired.
"If you want to." Her father simply answered.
"But you might wanna tell me first if where you're going?"
"We're heading to the company. My secretary just called me and it seems like there's a huge problem." her father explained as he sewed his clothes. That's when she noticed her father was dressed for business and wearing his favorite glasses.
"A huge problem? In which business?" she inquired. Apart from the company, they also own hotels, bars, and clothing lines. "From the resort? From what I have remember the last time it was already resolve and it was just a simple one."
Her father made a shaky motion with his head. "No, it's not the resort and it's not our company that is having a huge problem ." he said, perplexing her.
"Uhm, okay? If it's nice your company then who's company are you going?"
Her father gave her a look. "Tan's parents."
Her forehead creased. "Huh? What will you do there?" she asked, still perplexed.
"I don't they they're gonna make it. Their company's going bank crupt." her father said, and Adeline abruptly stood up in her seat.
Oh no. That can't be true. What will become of them then? What happened to Tan? She must help them. Perhaps she'll ask his parents about it tomorrow.
That is something she should do. Maybe the Lord have heard her prayers, maybe it's the time.
