Fox learned of Della’s disappearance like most everyone else. The home-guards pounding on his door wanted to search the room.
As the youngest male in the Villa family tree, he understood it was highly unlikely the weight of leadership would ever fall on his shoulders. He spent more time dreaming of an adventure than studying the skills needed to lead with his tutors. He loved his family, but he found them mostly strange. The things they fell in love with didn’t resonate with him. He longed to leave the spire and fill in those uncharted places the maps he’d investigated held.
