Chapter 14
In the two days leading up to Austin’s first visit to Neil’s house, Austin threw himself into his work. However, he avoided the article about how fostering a dog had changed his life. His case was turning out to be far from typical. On top of that, ending an article with, “and then I developed feelings for another man that put a strain on my marriage” was too much of a downer.
Austin’s main goal for spending time alone with Neil and Bunny was to alleviate that strain. He was going to show himself that he was stronger than this crush, that his feelings were fleeting and founded on little more than fantasy. For all he knew, a few hours with Neil were enough to make Austin never want to see him again. The thought made him sad.
