Bunny wasn’t allowed to eat the next morning, even if she wanted to. That didn’t stop Austin from feeling guilty about making himself some waffles before they left. Her tail was droopy, but she could still climb the stairs up to the second floor of the hospital where the operating rooms were. Someone came out of the elevator carrying a smaller dog with a leg cast, which yapped at Bunny until its owner scolded it. Bunny growled softly. Austin patted her on the head and shushed her.
A nurse came out and called, “Bunny?”
