Jayden's eyes widened in shock, his mind racing with questions. How could this be? Her parents had been so certain... He looked at her, and for the first time, he saw fear in her eyes.
"What do you mean?" He almost whispered.
"It's true.” Jax responded.
Immediately, Jayden's eyes narrowed, his mind working overtime. This changed everything. He needed to get to the bottom of this mystery, for both their sakes.
JAYDEN’S POV
I never thought that I'd find myself in this situation. My parents had given me an ultimatum - find a mate within eight months or face the consequences. The pressure was overwhelming; and I would never embrace the idea of letting my father choose a mate for me.
But I had other plans. I'd been holding out for Aliya, my childhood friend, the one person who understood me. I knew it was a long shot, but I couldn't shake the feeling that she was meant for me.
“Listen, we need to talk to your parents, figure out what's going on. But first, I need to know... are you willing to trust me, to work with me to uncover the truth?"
I held my breath, hoping she'd say yes, hoping she'd join forces with me to unravel the secrets that threatened to tear us apart.
She hesitated, her eyes searching my face for any sign of deception. I held my gaze steady, my expression open and honest; and after what felt like an eternity, she nodded, a small, determined movement.
"Okay, I'll trust you. But if this doesn't go well, Jayden, I swear—"
"I'm not playing with you," I interrupted, my voice firm. "We're in this together, now. We have to go talk to your parents and get some answers.” I went further to hold her hands, so that we could go immediately.
“We can't just go now… we need to come up with a plan.” She hesitated and sat back on her bed.
“Jax, Let me be for now.” I commanded my wolf and he came to a calm and quiet.
“Can I have my phone now?” Aliya said rather coldly.
“This is not the time to be making boyfriendy calls Aliya. What's the plan?” I responded.
“And how is any of that your business Jayden? You don't have the right to choose who I talk to or not.”
“I know you're upset, but let's get over this yet, then you'd have your precious phone.”
I responded calmly.
“I don't have any plans so far, but I'd suggest we have to go early at dawn where nobody can see us.” She said,
“Okay, that's fine by me.”... “I’d be up before dawn and we'd go at once.”
“What If the guards are suspicious?”
“Then you'd have to sleep in my room tonight.” I suggested.
“Noooo My boyfriend won't like the sound of that”. She said and her reply stung me like a bee. Why would she be thinking of what her so-called boyfriend cared about at the moment?
“He won't know if you don't tell…” “Meet me in my room, you're sleeping there tonight,” I said and stormed out, expecting her to follow, but she didn't.
As I slammed the door behind me, I wished that I wasn't being too hard on her.

“Jayden?” I heard her voice from the door. Immediately, I walked up to open it.
As I looked at Aliya, I couldn't help but be struck by her beauty. Her long, blonde hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of dawn, and her calm blue eyes radiate like stars in the night. Her full lips curved into a gentle smile, and her porcelain skin seemed to glow with an ethereal radiance. She was a vision of loveliness, and I was captivated.
”Can I come in now?”
“Yes, sure”. I said and cleared my throat, as I locked the door behind me.
“Your room is really lovely…” She said as she looked around... “It's nothing compared to the ones I've seen in France. Your taste for good things never changes”. She said and let out a cozy smile.
“It could become our room too.” I responded, and walked up to her. We stared at each other for a while and immediately, she drew me closer.
“Kiss me Jayden.” “Please…” She held my hands close to her chin and tried to seduce me. I could feel the burning tension between us, but I had to control it.
As I gazed at her, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life by her side. The clock was ticking, and I had to find a way to make this work.
But how could I force Aliya into a bond she didn't want? And what about her werewolf boyfriend, Evan? The situation was a mess, and I was running out of time.
“You need to go to bed. We have a long day tomorrow.” I said as I pulled her hand away and strode out of the room.

ALIYA'S POV:
As dawn broke over the horizon, casting a soft golden glow upon the world outside, I found myself lost in a sea of thoughts and emotions. The events of the previous night replayed in my mind like a movie, each wave crashing against the shores of my consciousness with painful clarity.
As Jayden and I prepared to set out to my parents' house, a sense of unease settled over me like a heavy cloak. Despite the brightness of the moon, I couldn't shake the chill that lingered on my mind everytime I remembered how foolish my actions were last night. “What was I even thinking?’
The rejection I had faced from Jayden echoed in the hollow chambers of my heart, a stark reminder of how I felt really vulnerable around him... His words, laced with a mixture of anger and hurt, still echoed in my ears, haunting me with their bitter truth.
I tried to push aside the doubts and fears that threatened to overwhelm me, focusing instead on our journey at hand. But try as I might, I couldn't escape the lingering shadow of doubt that clung to my every step.
As we made our way through the quiet streets, the weight of the impending confrontation hung heavy in the air, casting a pall over our journey. Immediately, we entered into his Mercedes, and with each passing moment, the distance between us and my parents' house seemed to stretch on endlessly, a silent testament to the uncertainty that awaited
“Do you want to say something?” He asked, while avoiding my face.
“N-no…” I responded, barely hearing my own voice.
“Alright then.” “ I hope we find answers soon.” He said, still looking straight.
“Like you care...” I scoffed.
Immediately, he turned and our eyes met.
“You don't need words to believe that I do… and that, very much.” He said.
I could feel the thrills and effects of his words in my stomach. ‘why am I feeling this way?’ I kept on asking myself.
“My parents had told me I had a wolf and not Just any kind of wold... they said it was a gift from the moon goddess herself." I heard myself say.
Suddenly, Jayden's expression softened, and he shifted closer to me.
“I'm afraid they lied, or maybe they were misinformed. You're wolfless, and it's sad you can't sense it. I almost thought you were pretending not to know.”
I shook my head, denial etched on my face. "No, no, no... this can't be happening. I can feel it, the pull... it's there, but it's different, like it's blocked or something."
“Shhhhhh… It's fine. We'll get answers soon.” He whispered and held my hands firmly.
As time went by, without another word, we finally reached my parent's house. I felt happy within, but at the same time, I could hear my heart racing with anticipation and a hint of fear. What would we uncover? And what did it mean for my mate bond?
A familiar sight brought a bittersweet wave of nostalgia crashing over me. The quaint facade, adorned with blooming flowers and ivy-covered walls, held within it a lifetime of memories, both joyous and painful.
With a trembling hand, I reached out to ring the doorbell, the sound echoing through the quiet morning air like a clarion call. Each chime seemed to reverberate within me, a stark reminder of the weight of the questions that lay heavy on my heart.
As the door swung open, revealing the familiar faces of my parents, a surge of conflicting emotions washed over me like a tidal wave. Relief mingled with apprehension as I stepped over the threshold, my heart pounding in my chest like a drumbeat of anticipation.
My parents greeted us with warm smiles, their eyes betraying a hint of concern beneath the surface. I could feel their gaze probing, searching for answers in the depths of my own troubled eyes.
With a heavy sigh, I knew the time had come to lay bare the truth that had been gnawing at the edges of my soul. Taking a deep breath, I gathered my resolve, steeling myself for the inevitable confrontation that awaited us all.
The entire household still looked the way it was twelve years ago.. We were warmly welcomed by the servants.
As we reached the living room, where my parents were seated, looking far too calm for Jayden's liking. He pinned them with a stern gaze.
“We we're hoping you'd find out sooner.” My dad said as he looked at Jayden and I.
"Tell us the truth. What's going on with her wolf?" Jayden blurted rather rudely, and I could sense that he had begun to run out of patience.
My mother's eyes darted to my father, who cleared his throat before speaking.
"Ah, Jayden, we... uh... we didn't exactly lie. She does have a wolf, just... not in the classical sense."
Jayden's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
My father shifted uncomfortably. "Well, you see... her wolf is... dormant. It's a rare condition, but it means she can't shift or sense the mate bond like others do…”
