ALIYA'S POV CONT'D. “Jayden??” I whispered shockingly. “Shhhh…” Jayden said as he pulled me and closed the door behind him. His touch sent a jolt through me, a mixture of shock and something else I wasn't ready to name. His eyes were intense, pleading. He looked different—more vulnerable than I’d ever seen him. I yanked my arm out of his grasp and crossed my arms over my chest, my heart racing. “What are you doing here, Jayden?” I hissed, trying to keep my voice low. “Evan’s right there.” “I needed to see you,” he whispered back, his eyes searching mine. “We need to talk.” “There’s nothing to talk about,” I snapped, turning away from him.
