Sofia wasn't at all pleased with her situation but quietly sat down beside Dave who watched her with hooded eyes and with his signature smirk pasted on his lips. She avoided his gaze and tried to concentrate on what was going on around her. Arianna was getting ready for her speech after which, she too would have to say her part.
"Nervous, are you?" asked Dave, leaning towards her. Sofia froze as his hot breath fanned the side of her face. She didn't even dare to turn her head and look as if he was too close to her.
"None of your concern," she huffed. Dave chuckled.
"So predictable!" He muttered under his breath, making Sofia's blood boil.
"I'm not," she gritted out. How dare he judge her without knowing her?
"So gullible," he continued, much to Sofia's irritation. Why couldn't he leave her alone?
"A*sh*ole!" she muttered under her breath, but instead of getting angry, Dave laughed, clearly enjoying getting under her skin.
"Do you know that your nose gets red when you're angry? Just like Rudolph's, " he said with a chuckle. Sofia was fuming by now at his insulting statements. There was only one way to stop him. She discreetly picked up a fork and moved her hand under the table, pulling her chair closer to Dave. When he wasn't looking, she tried to stab his thigh, but the guy seemed to know her motive! He caught her hand and extricated the weapon from her grasp, keeping it back to where it belonged. However, to her horror, he kept her hand imprisoned over his hot, muscular thigh. She struggled to get free from his iron-like grip but couldn't.
"Let go, " she gritted out when Arianna stood up for the speech and the toasts. Dave shook his head slowly but still didn't release her.
"Can't," he muttered under his breath. Sofia was sure by now that if she hated anyone in this life with a vengeance, it was the man sitting next to her. Arianna was done, and they all raised their glasses for a toast. It was Sofia's turn, and she pulled her hand away from Dave's hold with a jerk and got up. After initially faltering a little, she gained her confidence back after one look at her best friend, Lisa. She loved her and couldn't let one hateful man spoil this moment for her!
After a heartfelt speech and toast, she sat down and Dave got up to speak for his best friend. As Dave spoke, Sofia concentrated on her mobile, refusing to even look at him. The man somehow brought out the worst in her and she was glad that she'd never get to see him after today. After the toasts were over, Sofia exchanged places with Victoria. She refused to sit with Dave, and Victoria didn't seem to mind. Thankfully, she could get away from him and eat her food peacefully.
Afterward, all the couples took to the dance floor. Victoria danced with Kevin, who was another friend of Liam's. He was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and they did a fun dance with each other, happily giggling away. Sofia sat with Liam's cousin and sipped an amazing mocktail when a hand caught hold of her arm and snatched her drink away!
"What the hell!" she muttered angrily, looking up to blast the person who had a death wish. Her eyes met the electric blue ones of the horrendous Dave. He kept her drink on the table and hauled her up from her seat. Sofia was shocked at the roots of her hair. Before she could realize what was happening, he pulled her into his arms for a dance.
"Let go, you creep. I don't want to dance with you, " she said, trying to push him away. But he didn't budge an inch as he held her in a firm grasp and with a smirk on his face and kept on dancing. She looked around and saw everyone happily enjoying the party. Why did such things always happen to her? After her futile struggles against him, she just gritted her teeth and swore to bear the torture. Strangely, he didn't say a word to her, just stared at her in a creepy manner. She kept her eyes fixed upon the lapel of his tux, refusing to meet his eye, acutely aware of his arm around her. The music was a slow romantic number, and he pulled her closer, his penetrating gaze boring a hole in her face. His feverish hand burned her wherever it touched and the backless dress wasn't helping much to hide her reaction to him. Unable to bear the torture, Sofia waited for the music to stop.
Finally, the music came to a stop, and he released her. She whirled around and walked away towards Arianna, who was sitting with her baby, talking to Carmella. Sitting beside them, she fumed for the rest of the time. She didn't miss the satisfied smirk on Dave's face afterward.
Finally, the cake was cut and everyone celebrated and congratulated the newlyweds. Liam whisked his bride away and left for his building while the others enjoyed the after-party. Since Victoria wanted to enjoy more, Sofia decided to take a cab home. She walked down towards the main gate when a sports car suddenly skidded to a halt before her. The door opened and the horrible Dave came out. He strode towards her and picked her up, placed her on the passenger seat of his car, and locked the door.
"Hey, as*hole. I don't want anything to do with you," she said furiously. He turned a deaf ear to her sat down on the driver's side and drove off with a very angry Sofia spewing out curses at him.
"Will you stop the car?" She glared at him angrily. "I'll jump out of this car if you don't, " she threatened, fidgeting with the door lock of his fancy, expensive car.
"God! Can you stop overreacting? I'm just being chivalrous and dropping you home, " said Dave, not even sparing her a glance. He looked so calm and composed, almost smug in fact, and it made Sofia feel all the more frustrated. If she could, she would have murdered him here and now.
"Overreacting? I'm overreacting? You're such an ...," she stopped, controlling her tongue.
"Insufferable d *ck?" He chuckled, and Sofia gave him a shocked look. He knew the nickname that she gave him. But how? Davion chuckled more seeing her jaw-dropped stare.
"Your twin likes me better than you do," he said in a sing-song tone. At that point, Sofia wanted to throttle Victoria for giving away her secret. How could she?
"There's nothing to like about you," gritted Sofia.
"Same goes with you. Don't get your hopes up," said Davion. He knew that if he could get her to his bed a few times, he'd be able to control this crazy attraction that he felt for her. He just needed a good f*ck and that was all!
Sofia gaped at him. He was so rude. "In that case, why are you wasting your time with me? Don't you have a girlfriend to go to?" She asked in a pissed-off tone. Surely a man as good-looking as him had lots of girls drooling over him!
"Nah! I don't do relationships. I just f*ck them and leave them," he said with a shrug. Sofia felt the bile rising up at his words. He was mentally sick and she felt like throwing up.
"You're the most disgusting man alive. I just hope your organ gets a disease and falls off you," she gritted out. Davion looked at her with shock and then laughed out loud.
"Really? Well, won't you like to see it before that happens?" He chuckled. Sofia went bright red at his implication.
"Stop the car. I can run to my house from here," she said, eager to escape him. She could see her house at the far end of the street. Dave didn't listen to her and stopped right in front of her gate. He leaned in towards her purposely to unlock her door when he easily could have done it from his consoles. His arm brushed against her breasts and she tried to scoot away. He gazed into her eyes.
"See you again, Sofia. Next time, hopefully under different circumstances, " he said. Sofia didn't answer. She just unbuckled the seat belt jumped out and ran inside. Davion chuckled at her cuteness. He sat there for a few minutes and noticed a curtain move upstairs. She was peeping out to check whether he left or not. He winked and blew her a kiss. The curtain stopped moving completely! Shaking his head at her antics, he drove away, deep in thought.
He was actually surprised at his own behavior. He hated women and never bothered with them but tonight he surprised himself. He couldn't stop himself from teasing and pursuing Sofia the whole time at the wedding. Most baffling of all was he forced her to dance with him! His first dance with a woman!
