I spend the rest of the day hidden away in my room. Issy knocks but I ignore her and choose not to let her in. I am surprised my foot tracks aren’t scorched into the carpet at this point, I have been pacing so much. A light knock sounds followed by Drakos’ voice. “Can I come in darling?” I hesitate a moment before walking over and opening the door. He comes in and closes the door behind him. I sit on the edge of the bed.and fiddle with my hands. “Did you find a dress you liked?” He asks whilst hovering by the door. “Yes, it is hanging in the dressing room,” I gesture to the left and he nods. He steps closer and squats before me, taking my hands in his. “What’s wrong darling? You seem upset? If you don’t want to do this today then we don’t have to.” I shake my head, “it’s not that.” He waits patiently for me to continue. I pull my hands free and pat the bed beside me. He rises and sits next to me instead. “Due to you being older I do not know you all that well. But, Josiah and Issy, they have been the only consistent positive in my life. I value their friendship above all else.” I begin to explain. He looks genuinely confused, “okay?” “So I don’t know what to do about the fact neither of them are supporting me through this.” I look down at my hands in my lap again. “What do you mean? Issy is okay, she went dress shopping today. And Josiah just needs time to adjust.” He shrugs. I swipe at a lone tear escaping down my cheek. “She keeps trying to convince me to reject you and to choose Josiah instead.” I blurt the words and Drakos’ chest rumbles. “And Josiah?” He asks through clenched teeth. “Pointed out that he would choose me to be his mate,” I say the words softly. He growls and I quickly stand before him. I clasp his face and lean forward so my forehead meets his. “I need you to know that there is no hesitation, no choice to make. I am yours.” I declare the words clearly. He groans before flipping us, my back hitting the bed. He doesn’t waste a second pressing his lips to mine and devouring my mouth. My hands slide down his back and a growl rumbles through his chest. He pulls his mouth away but stays close, “mine.” I look at his eyes as they flash a golden colour. He blinks and they go back to his usual green. His wolf just emerged. “What is your wolf’s name?” I ask in a whisper. He smiles softly at me, “Freki.” My eyebrows knit together, “Odin’s wolf? Like god of war?” He nods with another small smile. “My mate, so wise and beautiful.” He caresses my face and looks at me like the most precious thing in the world. I am glad to have distracted us both for a few minutes but I know we will address his siblings still. “Now,” he says whilst standing and pulling me to stand with him. “Let’s go deal with my siblings.” He begins leading us out of my room. At the bottom of the stairs he asks one of the maids to fetch his siblings. We make our way to the Alphas office and Drakos leads me to his chair. He gestures for me to sit and then stands beside me. Not two seconds the door knocks and Josiah pokes his head in. He seems surprised to see me sitting here but comes inside followed by Issy. They both sit on the opposite side of the desk and I shift uncomfortably in my seat. “We all know you both love Cleo, you have all been friends for years. But you are making her feel unsupported in your mission to match make.” Drakos tells them both and they look at me with regret. “I’m so sorry Cleo, I was only trying to help. I- I didn’t mean to upset you. I love both of my brothers and would be happy with whoever you decide to be with.” Issy sits forward in her chair. “I just wanted you to know I would still be your friend regardless of your choice.” “But that is what I have been trying to explain Issy. There is no choice. Drakos is my mate, that’s the end of it.” My eyes flit to Josiah and see the hurt there. “I am really sorry Josiah. If I had been your goddess given mate then I would have happy. But you aren’t. I love you as a friend, even as a big brother. But that is all.” Josiah nods at me, “I understand.” “Can we please put this to rest now?” Drakos asks. “It is really disheartened that both my siblings are against me.” “Drake I-“ Issy stands from her chair. “It wasn’t like that. Of course I want you to be with Cleo. You deserve a mate like Cleo. I just -“ she struggles with her words and tears build in her eyes.” Drakos steps around the desk and hugs Issy. “It’s okay, I know you have a stronger bond with Josiah. I have not been around enough for you little sister.” He sighs as he steps back. “I promise that will change too.” He then pulls Josiah into their hug too. “And I am sorry to you too Josiah. I really am sorry that my mate turned out to be the same girl who holds your heart. The guilt will haunt me forever.” I cannot help the small smile on my lips as I watch the trio of siblings.
