Bath time stories

Selena POV:

It was my second bath in the two hours since I had been released. Ro was cleaning my body slowly and patiently to not hurt me further. The first bath water was black with filth and dry blood. The second was not a rusty red in color. "Time to let this out and we can draw a new one," she said as she unclogged the drain. "They killed my family," I shivered and I watched as Ro froze. "Who told you that?" She asked, "I heard Raze and Alpha August talking," I watched her carefully, taking in every wrinkle for even a speck of emotion, she nodded, "what else?" She asked, "Raze wants Ethan dead so that I can die." She sighed and sat back on her chair, she looked tired as she stared at the water drain away. "That seems fitting." My heart seemed to drop like a bungee jumper at her words. "Y-y-you knew?" I stuttered, my words were falling over each other, she looked like she was in a daze and then remembered something. She plugged the tub again and started filling it with clean water.

"Selena. I'm old. I may not look it at times but yes I knew." I wanted to ask so many questions, why? Would probably be the biggest question. "Tell me what you know Ro," Ro smiled sadly at me and sighed deeply. "You'll be eighteen in a few days, so it is best that you know." She lathered the loofah with a sweet scented body washed and started to scrub my body.

"You aren't from this pack and I also want to say that I didn't know about Raze's involvement until recently." I was trying my hardest to listen and not interrupt her, "Eighteen years ago, there was a strong powerful pack, there were rumours about the Lunas of the pack being blessed with special wolves, something about them having a direct link to the Moon Goddess herself." I gasped at that, "was it true?" I asked and she smiled at me, "I don't know, I never met anyone from that pack except maybe you." My stomach dropped again as her words reminded me of Luna Anna's bizarre request, "so what happened?" I asked, Ro paused briefly and sat down.

"Well, I don't know. There was a time when we were not a powerful pack. We had no allies, no one wanted to help us..." She stared off into the distance as she spoke, "why?" I asked, "Alpha August's father was not a kind man and he was also not a good man, this back has a lot of old traditions that are cruel, it's because his father wanted it that way." Her words were confusing, "but why didn't Alpha August just change everything when he became Alpha?" I asked and Ro shrugged, "I don't know. We were a weak pack and when it came time for change, the change didn't come. Rogues attacked us almost everyday, we didn't have the man power or the numbers to protect our lands and many people were leaving and seeking sanctuary somewhere else." Ro went back to rinsing my body, my skin starting to finally look clean again, "and then one day it all changed. Alpha August went out and he came back different, he had changed and our pack started to change too. First, it was young girls, they seemed to go missing a lot and he blamed it on rogues or said that they ran away with their mates. Many families weren't content with these answers," she tapped my head and I leaned it backwards as she started to rinse my red hair.

"Then the pack started growing in wealth, some how, we were becoming stronger and the rogues were becoming less and less. We were celebrating when they brought you to the pack," she was massaging my head with shampoo now as she relived the day that I returned to the pack, "they handed you to me and that was it. We had heard the next day about a great attack against the Silver Moon wolves and that was it. We were forbidden to talk about it." She began to rinse my hair. We sat in silence as I digested the reality of what I had just heard, August had massacred my pack, my family for his own...

It was a glass shattering feeling. Now I understood even better why it was ironic that I was mated to their son. To kill me would be to kill him, unless...

We rejected each other. Then they could kill me regardless. "Selena, I am sorry that you had to endure this," said Ro breaking my thoughts, I shrugged, "it isn't you I blame." My voice was cold and I felt her rough hands squeeze my shoulder comfortingly, "reject him and run Selena." Her words caught me off guard, "what?" I asked, shocked by what she said. This was her pack. Her Alpha and Luna. "Do it." She grabbed my hand in hers and forced me to look into her eyes, "whatever they promise you, it will never be for the good of you or because they care. They do not care about you. You are their sacrificial lamb!" She exclaimed, just as the door burst open and she dropped the soap in fear, "Ro," greeted Anna coldly, "is she ready?" Her steely gaze was on Ro and I was anxious for her. We don't know how much Anna heard, "yes but-" "dress her and bring her and then come to my office. You and I need to have a little chat." With those being her last words, she turned on her heel and walked away. Ro breathed out slowly, "remember my words Selena."
