Chapter 98

1109 Words

Lucielle's parents made several more visits before she was finally discharged from the hospital, six days after her admission. Each visit was more contentious than the previous one, to the point where she had to ask them to remain at home. Their visits were brief and unfulfilling, and if it made Floyd more comfortable not having them around, she saw no reason to dispute. Lucielle would never voice it, but she felt a sense of relief when they agreed not to visit, agreeing that it would be better for everyone if they waited until she was feeling better and back home. Lucielle knew that even with her fractured ribs, she would be the one to initiate the visits, not the other way around. This arrangement suited her well, as she never allowed them to visit her apartment, her sanctuary from them.
