I didn’t get the chance to go to Jem last night, since Doris stood up and said we all needed to get to bed. I was practically shoved into my tent, and before I knew it I was falling asleep, my mind full of the swirling thoughts that were distracting me, confusing me, destroying everything I’ve ever known to be real. I packed up my tent slowly and meticulously, going through the motions with everyone else as they laughed and talked about last night. The cheers and hoots came again as Betty and Dog came out of the same tent together, every one congratulating them for finally being a couple.
