Lina's POV
"Will I find my mate, Papa?" I ask my dad.
He freezes like he does every single time. It makes me so nervous that for a while, I feel my mate passed away already!!
"Hopefully soon. You don't have to be eighteen to find your mate. Because you already got your wolf" Maa answers.
I nod as I mutter an okay. But deep down, I know I am not okay.
"You know, the day I found about your Maa.." Papa says and he looks at my mother.
I am not really into this mate concept and all that serious, but I wish I can find someone the way Papa looks at Maa. Makes me want to believe in love again.
"She was eighteen and naive. She is my second chance" Papa says.
"What??" Okay!!! This is new!
"I lost my first mate the day I found about her. She was raped and slowly poisoned. By various means she finally reached me. But the poison kicked in. She passed away" Papa says again.
This is really new. I look at Maa and she is already looking at Papa. I guess I somehow missed a detail.
"And then, three years later I found your Maa. I couldn't accept her. Because she was human" Papa smiles sad.
"He didn't accept. Like I said, he was an Asshole" Maa says and somehow, I chuckle at that. I don't know.. it is funny when Maa calls him Asshole. Crazy thing is, he doesn't mind.!
"Buttttt... It is all Moon Goddess's will. She doesn't make mistakes. Your mate is the one who you will spend your whole life with. They are the one who will know the real you. Your mate is the one who will make you the happiest on the planet, at the end of the day" Papa again.

"Okay! Everyone else are present. Shall we go and rock the event?" Papa asks me as if he wants me to deviate.
I pause and look at the ceiling. Releases air through my puffed cheeks. I close my eyes for two seconds and nod.
"Done! I'm ready" I nod again.
"That's like my gurl! Let's go have fun" Papa says.
"Can we do a family hug before we go there?" Adi being the emotional boy he is!
I had no time so we made the hug end quick. We will have many opportunities for group hugs. So that does not matter to me.
"Now! To the new Alpha!! Carolina Siya Malloy!!!!" Adi yells.
This boy is noisy for absolute no reason. My older brother! But damn he needs to get a life!!! Where even is his mate?!
We all walk out and to the clearing. Everyone greets me as I walk towards the stage. And I also notice that only Luna's of various packs are greeting and interacting with me. No Alpha dare to. Maybe I shall give them an answer today.
"Here we have the star of the show! The first female Alpha to take over. Carolina Siya Malloy!!" Eric announces. Gamma!
I nervously walk on to the stage. Wave at them. I see my Papa and Maa walk on to this too. My eyes frantically search for Adi. Where is he?
I spot him beside Carl and Caleb. I don't know. I feel bad. This is righteously his. But turns out he is not even a werewolf. So he cannot participate in this ceremony.
Who wrote this rule? I really hope Caleb can change this.
"Alpha!" Eric calls Papa and hands him the mic.
"Good Evening, Ladies and Gentlemen" Papa greets.
Everyone has smiles on their faces. And my face clearly displays nervous smile.
"Thank you so much for your presence here this evening." Papa says as he talks but nothing really registers to my brain.
Because I am really nervous! What if I find my mate out of blue?
"Today, our daughter.. Carolina Siya Malloy is all ready to take over as the Alpha of Dark Knight Pack" Papa still talks.
This time, I only know that he is talking about me!
"Thank you to the supernatural council who has approved of this. Lina becoming an Alpha means a change in our werewolf world. A change towards best. That women are no less than men. A change that will create better generation" He says again.
Okay. Here it comes. The sensitive topic that is bugging every egoistic male Alpha here!
"A change we are not ready for" Someone from the crowd says.
See! I expected it! I indeed expected this!
"Sorry, what?" I ask them in return.
I am also searching the crowd to find the voice. I need to see the face. Only then can I answer because this is not something I answer to anyone aimlessly.
Alpha of Eclipse Pack, Kenji stands. All the attention is on him now.
"A change we are not ready for" he says.
His Asian accent clearly evident. I have never met this man before. I have only heard. He is tall. Black hair. Small eyes. Charming. Indeed buff in personality. Looks like a powerful Alpha.
"If the women get the chance to be an Alpha, then do you think the men who are their mates will have the power to breastfeed the children?" Mr. Kenji asks again.
Without my consent, Nora takes the control over. Because she does not tolerate this gender discrimination.! And I don't hold her back too. This is an issue someone or the other gotta speak out.
"I see why not! If your mate being a woman is eligible to being an Alpha. I see why you can't change your gender as well. Or maybe buy some balls!!" Nora speaks through partial control and I just watch everything.
"See there? The way she talks-"
"The way I talk, is totally based on how you talk, Mr. Alpha! Please keep in mind that I am one as well." Nora raises an eyebrow.
"Or, shall we have a combat and see why I am no less than any of you here?" Nora throws an open challenge.
No one raises a hand.
"Or, should I remind you all again how I killed then Alpha Miguel when I was just fourteen?" She yells again.
The crowd goes silent. I really Love Nora! Her voice, her mere presence itself is so powerful!
"Nora! Nora!! Calm down. Please?!" Maa runs to me and holds my hand.
But Nora shows no interest in calming down!
"Do you see this scar?" Nora yells again.
I show them the scar on my cheek. The ugly yet mark of strength I carry and roam around with my head held high.
"A mark that shows I was brave when a man like you tried to pull down. At the end of the day. I am a werewolf like you all. Why is there a difference between Man and Woman when it comes to responsibilities? Isn't it the Alpha blood that flows equally?" I question this time.
"And, do you think when you are in life and death situation.. would you want to die because you can't accept help from a she wolf?" I ask them with my voice raising.
"Or, would be lose because the opponent is a female? Just because you don't even want to fight??" I shout at this point.
I take a moment and scan the crowd if someone wants to object or ask something again. When no one does, I continue talking.
"The day I call you matured, is the day when you agree that women are equal to men not just in Alpha duties but everything" I say looking at Kenji this time.
He only looks into my eyes with no emotion.
"Today, as I take the Alpha title.. I promise and swear that not only to my pack but to women all across the globe.. That I will be their support hub. I will run to you whenever the male domination hurts you. I will be the strength that every women needs just to survive amongst the male bulls who think they are superior and no one else" I shout making sure everyone hears it well and fine.
All the Lunas stand and clap loud as soon as I stop talking. Many of them cheer and yell for me. I also observe it is only women who encourages other women too. It's like a chain.
"To the Alpha of The Dark Knight Pack, Carolina Siya Malloy!!!!!!" Eric yells.
The whole crowd erupts into louder cheers. The world is now witnessing the first female Alpha evolution. Carolina Siya Malloy. Me.
I see Queen and Supernatural council head .. Cartia Malloy walk up to the stage and hug me. I hug her a little tighter because I just love her!
"Pack run!! Pack run!!"
"We want to see the Golden Wolf!"
"Run! We want to run with female Alpha!!"
The crowd chants repeatedly. I smile to myself. Pack run? They want to see my wolf? Then who is stopping them?!
"Sure as hell, yeah!!!" Nora says in excitement.
She is finally an Alpha wolf!
"Thanks Lina! You fulfilled my dream" Nora says.
"Don't thank me. Maybe we both together make the title Female Alpha!" I say and feel Nora agreeing.
I nod my head and everyone cheers louder again. We walk to the clearing and everyone waits till Nora shifts. Just to see the Golden wolf with their own eyes.
A howl from Nora made the clouds those covered the Moon in the sky to move aside. Her wolf grins and sprints. Followed by everyone else's shift. They all follow her without a doubt and not questioning the random direction.
But after few steps, I walk back. I want my brother to be a part of this. He might be human, but he was an Alpha's son. He is the Alpha's older brother now!
I find him at the clearing. With Maa and Papa. Maybe they stayed behind so he would not feel bad.
"Say no more" Nora says.
I nod.
Nora nudges Adi with her snout. All the Alphas, Lunas and every pack member looks at the interaction with wonder.
Papa translates the wolf language to Adi. And with lots of hesitation, Adi finally sits on Nora's back holding her fur for grip. I see Maa and Papa shift as well.
What if he is a human? He is still my family! And he will take part in any event that involves me or my family!!
With him on my back, I start the pack run again with almost everyone cheering louder than before.
