Lina's POV She is a girl, so she cannot be a good Alpha.. is what they said. They said I wasn't good enough. They said I was not that strong enough to compete against all other male Alphas. They also said that I might not be dominant enough to cope up with auras of other Alphas. And they said so many other words. Some, I want to ignore. Some other, I don't want to. Because I want to prove them wrong. What if I am a girl? Alpha is a position based on strength and intelligence. Power. Dominance. Courage. To be able to rule. To be able to grasp the right path to lead all other wolves dependant on you. Being a leader does not come with baggage of gender discrimination. Being an Alpha, means being a ruler. It is not just a male thing. My wolf Nora and I are more than ready to prove that to the world. "Good night!" I tell Nora. She does not respond. Maybe she is already sleeping. The golden wolf who can intimidate even the most powerful Alpha. She is just.. just incredible! With all the courage to face tomorrow, I finally fall into deep sleep. It only feels like a minute of sleep when I hear someone banging my room door. With my droopy eyes and messy hair, I walk like a Zombie to reach the door. "Happy Birthday Pumpkin!!!!!" "Happy Birthday Lina!!" "Happy Birthday baggie!" Mixture of wishes and nicknames fills my ears. I force a smile for them and say, "Thanks to everyone except Adi" Everyone laughs! Benjamin Adi Malloy is my older brother and the apple of my eye. I did not know I had a brother until one fine day, my dad and brother decide to walk into my life. My brother and I grew a lot closer in past three years. I smile and move backwards so they can enter my room. Mom holds a plate with a cake. Candles lit on it. Dad holds a party popper that throws confetti. And Adi's eyes are on cake. I blew those candles and three of them clap again. I cut a piece of cake and look at my family. Everyone looks like they are expecting I would choose them to receive the first piece. So what do I do? I eat that piece of cake with no regrets and lick the frosting that is still on my fingers. "What the f-" "Language!!!" Mom cuts before dad says something. "What? She is eighteen. It's okay to curse before her" Dad yells. I laugh as Mom and Dad bicker to each other. Meanwhile I cut another piece of cake and offer it to my brother. He smiles and takes a tiny piece of that. He shoves that in my mouth and takes the one in my hand. We see my parents stopped arguing and now are looking at us. I offer them cake as well. After half an hour of bickering, laughing, cracking jokes and eating cake.. we decide to call it night once again. I smile to myself and fall on my bed. And someone knocks the door again. I walk to open and see my father, mother and brother. Mom is glaring at my father. "I forgot this" Dad whispers. Before I ask him what that is about, my dad pops the confetti popper making me laugh! I remember he brought it before but he really forgot this. "Thank you" I laugh. This time, they all yell good night in unison and leave to their own rooms. I slowly walk back to my room. Sleep is so far from where I am right now. So I just lay on my bed staring into nothing in particular. I am Carolina Siya Malloy. Daughter of Alpha Aiden James Malloy and Luna Deepika Malloy. My mother was human by birth. And she had my brother Benjamin Adi Malloy as a human. So she passed her human genes to him. My brother Benjamin, who I love to call as Adi.. is a human and unfit to be an Alpha to werewolf pack. My mother later turned into werewolf because of dad's bite. That is a story I hear a lot from many people. They love Papa and Maa dearly. At the age of fourteen, I stepped amidst a title battle unknowingly. I wanted to help my father. But got scratched by the other Alpha Wolf. That stimulated my werewolf genes. And I shifted the same day. If shifting at seventeen is early shift, then I guess I had an early early earliest shift. I am eighteen today. And tomorrow is the day I take up the title of Alpha from my Papa. Oh! My wolf!!! Nora she is! She is unique with Golden Fur. The legend says there is only one golden wolf through history, and she is Nora. Nora in her previous birth was so powerful that she defeated Alphas to prove her superiority. But once those Alpha's passed away, they passed the title to their sons. She was devastated. No one knows how she died in her previous birth. Only she does. But she became my wolf in this birth. We together defeated then Alpha who invaded our pack. Dad became the Alpha. And now, it is time I take it from him. With lots of struggle and anxiety, I finally fall into sleep again. I hope tomorrow would be a good day. . . . . . . . . I wake up to my phone yelling non stop! I grab that from the table right beside my bed. "Hello?" I greet as soon as I hit the answer button. "Happy Birthday little sister!" I hear Riley's voice from my phone. "Thank you Riley!" Riley Freya Malloy. The Princess of Werewolf Race. She is the daughter of Carl Francis Malloy and Leah Malloy. She has an older brother as well. Caleb Jude Malloy. He is now the king of werewolves. Carl Francis Malloy and my father are cousins. "Finally you are eighteen!!" She exclaims. "Says the one who is in adulthood. You are twenty three" I say with my still husky voice. "That is funny! Our family is on the way to see you. I couldn't stop myself so I called you to wake you up! Now get your ass up and get ready!" She says. Before I say anything, she hangs the call up. You see.. I am a wing of Malloy. The Malloy family is really really huge. All you need to remember is my family and Riley's. Because we are now the most powerful in werewolf race. I quickly brush my teeth and take a shower. Today's outfit.. I choose a white t shirt and blue jeans. Throw on a blue denim jacket because it is a cold day! I let my brown hair air dry. I look at mirror one last time before walking down. The living room is already filled with buzz of all guests. The Beta's family is here as well. Beta's family and Alpha's family used to live together in pack houses. But now, they have their own houses to respect privacy. "Happy Birthday Alpha Junior" The pack's present Beta, Uncle Luke wishes. "Thanks Uncle" I smile as I walk towards them. "Happy Birthday Lina!" Everyone else wishes again and I smile as I thank them. This person... Luke Wood is the beta of our pack and his mate, Ella Wood is the beta female. They have two sons. Their blood, Andrew Wood and the adopted one Blake Wood. Blake is my best friend next to Riley. I don't see him anywhere. He is of my age so we connect really well. Andrew and Adi are always a team. "So, what are the plans for today?" Mom asks me. "I don't know Maa. Riley told me that she is on her way" I tell her. "Oh! Don't worry about that. They are leaving again. Some King emergency they have got. But they promised they'll be here for the party" Dad says as he walks towards me with a bowl of food. I grab that and am not surprised to see some Payasam in it. This is the dessert my mom makes for everyone's birthday. It is like.. a tradition. But it is tasty, so who is complaining! "What a waste of all these kids!" Uncle Luke whispers. I look at him as I shove a spoonful of the dessert in my mouth. It melts easily and tastes heavenly! "I mean... The two of my children, and two of your children are all now eighteen and above eighteen! No one has found their mates till now!" Uncle Luke says again. I roll my eyes. This non stop mate thing I hear on and on and on and on! Aren't these people sick? "If that's the case you are talking, then Carl's children did not find their mates as well. Caleb and Riley are twenty three!" Maa says. I silently listen to the conversation as I finish the bowl and sit cross legged with my legs on the couch! Something that is considered crime according to gender biased s**t heads! I don't care. I love to sit this way so I will! "Why is mate thing always a hot topic to discuss about?" I ask and everyone goes silent. I roll my eyes and stand up. "Where is Blake?" I ask Uncle Luke. "At the training grounds" he answers. I walk out and towards the training grounds. They say that our pack... The Dark Knight Pack has one of the best training grounds one can ever see. On the way, people greet me and wish me.. I force a smile all the way as I thank them. Forcing my smile is not because I don't like my birthday. It is because I don't like the awkwardness. You know they'd be wishing you. But you have to wait till they finish what they want to say only to reply with a Thanks. And till they finish it, you'll just want to stand there and smile. I hate that moment of awkwardness. Once I reach the training grounds, everyone over there wishes me as well. After all the formal thankings, I finally spot my best friend at this pack. Blake Wood. Who is training to become the Beta. It is a competition between Andrew and Blake. The one that I feel would be the best Beta, would get appointed. "Heyyyy!" I greet him "Happy Birthday Princess" he winks at me. Such a play boy this person is. I roll my eyes and wave my hand gesturing him to come over and sit with me. The shirtless Blake is now walking towards me with sweat all over his body and smiling at girls who are already swooning over him. He winks to few here and there and throws kisses for few. He has a way with charming girls. "Suchhhhhh a playboy!" I roll my eyes. "No Sweetie pie! Exclusive for my mate" he says. I roll my eyes again. No one in this werewolf world makes me roll my eyes like this boy does! "So! What's up!!" He asks me as he dabs the beads of sweat with a towel. "I don't know. They say there is a party tonight. The King's family would be coming as well" I tell him. "Come on! They are literally your family. Malloys. Stop calling them as King's family" he again. I know. King Carl Francis Malloy is my Uncle. My dad's brother. But, if I take the title as The Alpha of Dark Knight Pack at tonight's party, then he would be my King. I should follow his path. "Bullshit! We make our own path!" Nora says. "Ooh! Good morning, Nora!" I greet my wolf. "Happy Birthday!" She greets me. "Thanks" She doesn't say anything again. She is an absolute terror to most of Alpha wolves. Which is why they don't want me to take the position as Alpha. Nora is powerful enough to kill them in a heartbeat. "Okay. So?" Blake asks me again. "Ice cream??" I ask him. He thinks for a while and checks a group of girls for a while. Then looks at me and smiles. "How about I take a shower first and meet you?" He asks me. I nod. "I'll place our usual orders and wait for you there" I tell him and he nods. He starts walking away towards his house and I see a girl joins him in his walk. I roll my eyes again. Blake is a good looking man, I agree. But I don't know what is soo charming in him that girls fall over him. I walk silently to the ice cream shop. I order our usual ones. Two scoops of tender coconut with no toppings for me and One scoop of Belgian Chocolate and A scoop of vanilla topped with almonds, chocolate chips and chocolate syrup for Blake. If there is anything that did not change over the years about us, then that would be our ice cream orders. I sit at a table near the glass wall. I look at people running around. I also see Alphas coming. Tonight is my birthday party and title ceremony. So obviously every Alpha would attend. "To witness the title ceremony of first female Alpha!" Nora says. I nod to myself. The world's first female Alpha. That is me. Without Nora, I am not sure if I can do that. The ice cream orders and Blake comes at the same time. I don't even smile at him. He looks at me and narrows his eyes. "Okay! Shoot" he says grabbing his cup of ice cream. "Nervous as heck" is all I say. "You shouldn't be. You are strong than many Alphas out there" he tells me as he eats his ice cream. I shove a spoonful of my ice cream and think about it. Think about all the words I have been told just because I am a girl. The day I won the battle against Alpha Miguel at the age of fourteen, I mean ... Not me but Nora won. But anyways, no one accepted anything about it. Just because I am an Alpha's daughter doesn't make me an Alpha, they said. Once I find my mate, they would accept him as the Alpha.. is what they said. Nora and I are hell bent to show them that we being girls can rule a pack just like any other Male Alpha does! "Everyone on this planet is gender biased s**t heads" I whisper. "Not everyone, Sweetie pie" Blake says. "Okay. Not everyone. Like our pack and Bloodmoon pack" I shrug having a spoonful of ice cream again. I love the way they add tender coconut bits to make it taste more natural. No artificial essense like most of the ice cream shops on human land does. "But I don't know.. what if few d**k heads oppose the title ceremony tonight?" I ask him. That is what I am actually worried about! "They won't" he says. "And what makes you think so?" I ask him again. "Because they saw what you can do! You were freaking fourteen when you defeated an Alpha!" Blake says. I turn towards the road and I see Alphas looking straight in my eye and walk forward towards the guest house. I don't think so. It is my gut feeling that they would oppose this. They are unable to stand that a girl would be sharing the Alpha space with them. "Whatever! Let's eat this and we are going shopping. I don't have an attire for tonight's party" I tell him. "Excuse meeeeee! I am a busy man" he scoffs. "And what is it that you are busy with today?" I ask him. I am now done eating ice cream and Blake is still enjoying his. "The girl earlier. Alesia. She asked me out. She said she wants to take me on a date" Blake smiles. "Shouldn't you be the one asking girls on date?" I roll my eyes again. "Let's change the trend, bestie!" Blake shrugs. I leave him right then and there and walk to my house. I grab my car keys. Mercedes Benz C63 it is. My dad is the fastest driver I have seen till now. On the other hand my mom drives it as if she is riding a bullock! I go to human land because there are heck loads of options when you don't like one. You have stores all around. After taking a look at every store .. not every.. maybe 7. I decide I would wear a long off white dress that has silver thread work on it. The dress reaches my ankles. I am tempted to wear jeans and top for my own title ceremony. But even if no one have an idea to oppose, my dress sense would make them want to. The Alpha title is years of Nora's dream. We both trained ourselves for this day. There is no way we are ruining it. I look out and it is almost evening. I quickly drive back to my pack and greet everyone again. Everyone are so busy with the ceremony. Almost all the Alphas are here. I take a shower again and get ready in no time. I put my brown hair in a French braid. Pair my dress up with my white heels that I already have. Minimal makeup. I am done. I walk out and the house is now empty. Maybe they all left already. I walk to the fridge and grab a Hershey's chocolate bar. I start eating it when I hear my Dad shouting my name. "In here!" I yell back. I see my Maa and Papa walk towards me hand in hand. I was never interested in mates, but looking at my Maa and Papa... I feel the need to find mine soon. Someone who would look at me the way Papa looks at my Maa. "Will I find my mate, Papa?" I ask my dad. For a moment, I see the colour drain in my father's face. Something that happens everytime I ask him about my mate. Now I wonder, who might he be?
