CHAPTER 10

1178 Words
Zoe's POV Last night went well. Blake wasn't his normal douche-face self and it scared me a little. I knew he was up to something. So I played along; smiling and sipping on my fruit drink, which was the only thing I could drink by the way. The morning came soon enough. I got up and quickly made my bed. Since Blake had stopped me from going to work, I had nothing else to do or than sit around the house. So I decided to go have breakfast in the kitchen with Amelia. I was about to leave my room when I noticed a bouquet of pink roses and a note on my dresser. I wondered who left them there, so I went over to my dresser, and picked up the note and read it. I had fun last night. I hope you did too ❤ I've instructed one of my men to take you out to buy some clothes. Have fun! Xoxo Blake Reading the note, I smiled unconsciously, admiring the beauty of the roses. certainly confused as to how he knew pink roses were my favourite. But I snapped out of it as I remembered who wrote the note. It sent shivers down my spine, which made me throw away the note and flowers, immediately. Shaking off all the feelings, I hurried downstairs to have breakfast. “Morning, Amelia. What’s for breakfast?" I asked as I took my seat on the kitchen counter. “Breakfast will be ready soon,” Amelia replied, smiling. She wasted no time setting up breakfast and, soon, the table was filled with all kinds of food. “Amelia, this is too much for just me," I said, marvelling at the quantity of food before me. “Zoe, remember you are eating for two now," Amelia laughed, pouring me a cup of mint green tea. I rolled my eyes at her remark. Ignoring Amelia, I started eating. Shortly, I was done with my breakfast. Remembering that Blake had instructed one of his men to take me out to buy clothes, I quickly returned to my room to get ready, as it was the only time I would be able to leave the mansion. (*) Getting to the mall, I was taken to one of those expensive shops, where a piece of clothing was worth more than my house rent. “Hi, can't we go to another shop? This place is quite expensive,’ I said to one of Blake’s men, as I felt uneasy at the place. “Miss... the boss gave us his specific orders for you to shop here and nowhere else," Blake’s man replied. ‘Damnit Blake,’ I mumbled in anger. “Good day, Miss. You are from Mr Blake Shelton, right?" the shop attendant asked with a smile on her face. “Yes, I am,” I answered nervously. “Mr Shelton called ahead and told us you were coming in today. Please, come with me. We have laid down several dresses for you to choose from,” she said, leading me into the dressing room. The dresses all laid down were beautiful and perfect. ‘And super expensive,’ I mentally yelled to myself. I felt extremely uneasy thinking about Blake paying for all these dresses. I don't want to be indebted to him any more than I have to. But regardless of feeling uneasy, I took the dresses, because I knew Blake would have a fit if I refused. As we were done, I decided to go to the food court. I never knew being pregnant would make me eat so much. ‘At this rate, I’m gonna get fat and ugly,’ I said to myself. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice calling out for me. I turned around to see Anna running in my direction. “Hey, Zoe... you walk so fast for a pregnant woman,” Anna said, trying to catch her breath. “I'm barely showing, Anna,” I said, rolling my eyes at her. “So, what do you want? The last time we talked, we fought,” I continued, with a stern expression on my face. “Zoe, I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry. I should have been a more supportive friend, forgive me?... Remember, it's you and I against the world,” Anna pleaded. I looked at her and contemplated. "Oh, alright! You know, I can't stay mad at you for so long,” I said, hugging her. “I love you, girl.” Anna squealed, hugging me back. “Right back at you,” I replied, smiling. “So, I need the full gist. How is life at the Shelton mansion?” Anna asked, eager to hear all about it. We walked together to the food court and I told her all about my misery living with Blake. It felt good having Anna back in my life. Time flew by as we talked for so long until the bodyguard interrupted us, telling me it was time to go and a frown slowly made its way to my face. “You have to come over to the house. Please, I need someone there that I can trust and that is not on Blake's payroll,' I begged Anna. “Sure girl, anything for you my dear,” Anna said, hugging me tightly. We said goodbye and went our separate ways. Leaving the mall, we got to the mansion late at night. Exhausted from shopping and from catching up with Anna, I hurriedly went up to my room to change out of my clothes and take a shower. Passing by Blake's room, I wasn't sure if he was back from work. But, I wanted to thank him for the dresses he paid for. “Blake… Blake," I called out, slowly opening the door without knocking, my eyes immediately fell on Blake passionately kissing a half-naked brunette girl, whose body is like the models seen on TV. And seeing them like that made my tummy twist into knots for an unknown reason. I struggled to breathe, as I froze there staring at them. “Zoe!!! Do you need something?” I heard Blake yell, bringing me back to reality. “Oh, God! I'm so sorry, I should have knocked,” I said, particularly running out of the room, and closing the door behind me. I tried to control my breathing, as my heart threatened to bust out of my chest, trying hard to shake off the feeling that I refused to refer to as jealousy, and I walked back to my room. ‘I'm just here because of this pregnancy, and nothing else. So, he has the right to be with whoever he wants. He is not committed to me in any way, and I'm totally fine with it,’ I said to myself. I reached my room and lay down on my bed. ‘He means nothing to me! 'He means nothing to me! 'He means nothing to me!’ I repeated it over and over again until I drifted into a deep sleep.
