MOLLY’S POV
Did he just call me Angel or is it all in my head? I felt so flattered. Wow, I never believed that a billionaire like him with tons of girls at his disposal would be attracted to a girl like me. This made me feel so special. My dad was right all along, I am the most beautiful girl in the entire damn galaxy.
“Will you give me a chance to get to know you better?” He asked again when I was silent for some time and I decided to play my cards well. I wanted to make slow but sure steps. I wanted to make him fall in love with me and by the time I am done with him, he will be madly in love with me.
“What do you want to know about me?” I asked with a small smile touching my lips.
“Everything basically. I want to know everything about you Angel.” He repeated and this made me smile even more.
“Okay, ask me questions and I will answer you,” I gave him the permission to know me better. I rarely do this but as I have said this over and over again, he is so special to me.
“What is your name sweet angel?” He asked this and I had to come up with a lie pretty fast.
“How about you keep calling me Angel. I love the name. I will always be your Angel,” I said this word by word. I really don’t know why I didn’t feel the urge to tell him that my name is Molly Summers.
“Are you sure that you love the name Angel? I really want to know your real name,” He asked furrowing his eyebrows.
“Forget about my name. I love the name that you have given me Ed. Call me Angel,” I requested him with a warm infectious smile to cover my tracks.
“Okay, You are my angel from now onwards,”
Edward held my hand and started running his fingertips against it making me feel hot and bothered. However, the cold gusts of chill hit my skin as the wind blew and I shivered in response. I didn’t know that he noticed this till carefully removed his black coat and placed it around my shoulders. Wow, he is a true gentleman.
“Have it. I don’t want you to catch cold,” I couldn’t help but inhale his fresh cologne that left me instantly addicted to him. Heck, everything about this man is perfect. He is the man I have been waiting for, for so long.
“So, angel darling, where do you come from?” He asked me this after I was comfortable and my heart skipped a beat. I didn’t want to start our relationship with lies and at the same time I never wanted anyone to know where I come from because of my blackmailers. I was still juggling what to tell him when Lenny called my phone, saving the intense moment.
“Give me a sec, I have to pick this, call” I told him after pulling my phone from my handbag.
“Hello,” I gushed.
“Hello Bestie. Where are you? I have been looking for you everywhere. I am really sorry about my parents. They really didn’t mean to offend you” Lenny apologized and I looked at Edward hoping he would help me in this situation. I felt so guilty for making her feel this way. I know that she is so worried about me right now.
“Just leaving,” Edward mouthed to me and I nodded.
“Actually I have just left. Something come up and I had to leave immediately,” I lied to her.
“What! Wait, why did you leave without telling me? I thought that we talked about this. You need to be open with me. Please,” She begged me.
“I am sorry about that. It won’t happen again,” I mumbled.
“Wait, who dropped you off? I hope it is not my uncle Edward. By the way I saw him staring at you throughout the entire event. Be very careful, he always gets what he wants and I don’t want him to get you. He is a bad person.” Lenny explained and I had to hang up. I was having a good time and the last thing that I wanted is for someone to fill my brain with lies.
“Can we talk about this later? I will give you a call,” I quickly hanged up her call. I hated lying to her about my life choices but she made me do it. I wish that she had not talked ill of her uncle Edward. I like her uncle and if she comes between us then it might affect our friendship.
“Who was that?” Edward asked me.
“Your niece Lenny,” I told him.
“Let me guess, she was telling you to stay away from me. Right?” He asked and I was confused.
“Why do you say that?” I implored looking at him in the eyes.
“I know that her father feeds her with lies about me. Honestly speaking her father hates me because I know of his affair.” Edward confessed and my jaw dropped.
“What! But they have just had a renewal…” I was so disappointed.
“People lie all the time Angel. Just be keen so as not to fall to their trap,” Edward warned me.
“Huh, okay,” I said before taking in deep breaths. That was so f****d up. How could Lenny’s dad prepare this whole wedding renewal yet deep down he knows for sure that he is a cheat?
“Don’t be surprised. Okay dear? Thank goodness you have me. I will always protect you from all the liars and bad people in this world,” He said this and I found myself drawn to him like a moth to a flame. What he had just said touched a nerve. With all the blackmails I have been receiving ever since my dad died, it felt good to know that I could trust him.
“By the way I told Lenny that I have left already,” I told Edward as I bit my fingers nervously. We had to leave right away or else Lenny will walk into us and find out that I was lying to her all along.
“Yeah? Okay, come on, let us go then. I will drop you off,” He offered before holding my hand.
“You don’t have to drop me off. I can call an uber. Besides, you have done too much for me already. You have cancelled your plans just because I asked you to be here with me,” I said holding back.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
“Lenny told me that you are a billionaire. I know that billionaire always value time so I am sorry for wasting the time you should be using to take care of your business,” I quickly apologized.
“You are more important than all my businesses. I am glad that stayed to get to know you better. I have been working for so long and that is lonely and sometimes toxic. Anyway, I am happy that I have found someone to distract me from all that and that is you angel. You are the only woman who has been able to do that ever since I was born. Angel, you have made me value human connections again. Something that I have been taking for granted for the longest time,” He was so honest with me.
Our eyes locked for a few seconds as he slowly removed a strand of stray hair from my forehead tugging it behind my ear. He leaned in to kiss me and my lips were all ready for him.
I couldn’t help but fantasize about the two of us together at a presidential suite of a hotel. The way his fingertips runs across my face makes me feel hot. He invades all of my senses and this is something that no one else has ever managed to do. Edward is the ideal type of man that I want in my life. I am glad that the universe allowed our paths to cross.
We were about to kiss but the roaring of thunder distracted us. We jumped away from each other and laughed at the moment. Deep down though, I was ready to kiss him back and make him aware that I had fallen for him too.
We walked in silence till we reached at the parking lot. He didn’t let go of my hand and I felt so confident and powerful walking next to him. His car screamed money. He owned a Rolls Royce Sweptail. My dad has always insisted on working hard and I can see the beauty of that. Edward has everything that he wants right now because he chose to work hard to acquire that.
“I love your car Ed,” I barely hid my excitement as he allowed me to sit at the co-driver’s seat.
“Do you want to drive it?” He asked but I instantly become shy.
“Have I said something offensive?” He asked again when I was silent for a couple of seconds.
“Well, I don’t know how to drive a car. My dad died just before he could teach me all I need to know about driving a car,” I found myself confessing to him about my past. Something that I had barely done before. I have never talked about my loss to anyone, not even a therapist. All the raw feelings I felt when my dad was murdered are still inside me. I have never let it out. I figured that holding in will be good so that I can channel the pain as a driving force to help me revenge my father’s death.
“Oh dear, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to…” Edward said when I was suddenly quiet. He gestured me to get out of the car and once we were all out, he embraced me warmly.
“I love my dad. I still love him even if he is not here with me. He didn’t deserve to die,” My voice cracked as I poured my heart to him and this made him hug me even tighter.
“I am so sorry angel. I am so sorry for your pain,” He said this and I could barely hold my tears. An ocean of tears trickled down my face like water from a faulty tap.
“Ever since he died, I have been lonely. My dad was my everything. He was my source of joy. He was my best friend. That was taken away from me so soon.” I said after we broke apart from the hug. Edward quickly fetched some wipes to help me dry my tears which couldn’t stop falling.
There is something about Edward that I cannot explain. Ever since my dad was murdered, I have never told anyone or opened up to anyone about my feelings. This is the first time that I am doing this yet several months have passed ever since my dad died.
“I know that I can’t fill in the gap that your dad left. All that I can say is that I am going to be here for you. You won’t be alone anymore. I will always come through for you and together we will find your dad’s murderers,” Edward promised and this is the best thing that I have heard for such a long time. I wish that my mum was as supportive as Edward.
“Really?” I asked with a wide smile.
“Yes angel. I like you and I will help you in everything. All you have to do is ask. Will you do that for me?” He asked.
“Yea, of course...”
“By the way Edward, most people promise so many things and they end up not fulfilling them. How will I know that you are not lying to me?” I asked him this.
“I swear on my mother’s grave Angel. I will always be there for you,” He swore and I chose to believe him. It always feels nice to know that you have that one person you can always count on.
