Chapter Nine Margot watched the slanting rays of the setting sun infuse the California scene with pale gold. The day was slowly waning away, slipping into a summer’s evening that promised to be long and languid. She had retrieved her clothes earlier and now, even Crissy with her casual indifference to nudity, had pulled on her T-shirt and shorts. Sky, wearing a thin silky robe, sat back with his feet propped up on the railing, a drink at his side, watching the sun slide behind the hills. The Kat was not to be seen. She had excused herself, suggesting that, since it was a nice night, they might eat outside under the stars.
