Wedding Crasher

961 Words
Becky stares at her reflection in the mirror. She has waited five years to marry her boyfriend, Edwin, and finally, here she is, standing in her wedding gown ready to marry him. In an hour, she will be Mrs Edwin Williams. Remembering what she has gone through just to be where she is, she smiles bitterly. Her mother has been against her relationship with Edwin since the beginning, and over the years, she has thrown so many objets in the way of their relationship, in her relentless quest to tear the relationship apart. There's not much she hasn't done to end the relationship, but the worst was when she framed Edwin at the very beginning of their relationship, creating fake videos of him cheating on her. Becky doesn't get why her mother hates it when she is in a relationship. It is not like Edwin is a bad man, he is kind and loving, and he has a good reputation in society. That's one of the reasons Bella has always wished to be his wife. She doesn't really love Edwin but she likes him, enough to make a marriage work. She can't hope to find love, because, as soon as she entered her teens, Becky realized that love relationships are only fantasies. It's either you love the man and he doesn't want you, or he loves you and you don't want him. Love on both sides in relationships doesn't exist, and Becky thinks that the sooner more people accepted that, the better for them. It is enough that she has caught a decent husband. She will read romance stories if she ever dreams of true love. "Becky? It is time to walk down that aisle, finally. I was afraid you'd grow roots standing there. They took too long." It is her best friend, Anna, who is already married with one kid. Ever since the wedding preparations started, Becky thinks Anna has been more excited than she is about the wedding. "Try to smile, Beck. You are attending a wedding, not a funeral. Your wedding." Becky rolls her eyes, then looks in the mirror as she shows her teeth. Anna comes up behind her. "You don't look excited. Why? You've always wanted to marry Edwin. What's wrong?" Anna frowns at Becky's reflection in the mirror. Becky bites her lip, thinking. "I don't know. I guess I am just nervous. But I don't need to be excited; you are excited enough for both of us." At this, both of them burst out laughing, but stop when Edwin's father (who is going to walk her down the aisle) shows up. Yes, even now, Becky's mother still opposes the marriage. She refused to show up for the wedding. Becky regrets having to cross her mother. Growing up, she's had a fairly good relationship with her mother, but when it comes to Becky being in romantic relationships, they have clashed constantly. Anna had guessed that Becky's mom must be having a hard time accepting that one day, Becky will have to leave her alone and live with her husband, hence the kind of reaction. Well, she gets married even without her mother's help. Becky will always love her mother, but she is Mrs Williams now, whether her mother likes it or not. "I can't believe you are finally my wife," Edwin, looking ever so dazzling in a black tuxedo, his hair combed back ruthlessly, dances with Becky after their wedding. He holds her close to him, his mouth above her ear as he talks so that no one else gets to hear their conversation. "Though, I must express my disappointment at your mother not showing up. She is being rather unsupportive." "I understand her," Becky says. "It must be hard for her to think she will live alone from now on." Edwin turns her around as they dance, allowing Becky to face the entrance. Her eyes widen as she sees her mother, who is standing there, watching her dance. When her mother notices that Becky's eyes have found her, she waves her hand in the air, gesturing for Becky to follow her, and then she walks out of the hall. "Edwin, wait here. I think I saw my mom standing right there." Gathering the hem of her rob in her hands, Becky fights her way through the crowd, who are drunk and dancing and enjoying themselves. She breaks into a run immediately she reaches the empty hallway, spotting her mother turning a corner, disappearing from view. What game is she playing now? "Mom!" Becky calls, coming to a halt outside a closed room, but the door to the room opens immediately she stands there. A man's hand shoots out from inside and grabs her by the waist, pulling her inside. Shocked, Becky tries to aim a kick at the man, but he groans and holds her tightly from behind, stilling her movements. When she tries to scream, the man turns her swiftly around and, still holding her tightly, kisses her lips. Becky is filled with confusion, wondering why this stranger is doing this to her. It is dark and she can't see his face, the only thing she can tell about him is that he is dressed in white from head to toe. And he has a larger frame than her newly wedded husband. In the hallway outside, Becky hears footsteps, and then the voice of her younger sister calling her name. "Becky? Where are you?" She tries to move her lips from the man's, but he holds the back of her head firmly and kisses her harder to prevent her from making any sound. Who the hell is he? Becky's frantic mind wonders. And how dare he kiss her when she has just gotten married?
