Running away

Paris' POV "Are you sure you are making the right choice?" Aunt Violet asks me. "Yes, aunt Violet. I can not stay here anymore. I know everything about Ben. I feel guilty for not telling my father," I say. I handed her daughter's graduation clothes that she borrowed me over to her. Aunt Violet stands with the clothing in her hand when her daughter walks in. Maria is beautiful, but she has not found her mate yet. However, she is already twenty-eight, and I am sure she must have been rejected as she is bitter. "You borrowed this little tramp my graduation clothes, mother?" Maria asks. "Maria, I told you before not to call Paris names! I am sorry, Paris," Aunt Violet says. "It is okay, aunt Violet. Do not worry about me. I am sorry I borrowed your clothes, Maria, but I had no choice, my parents forgot it was my graduation, and I had nothing to wear. I will buy them from you if you do not want them after I have worn them," I say. I know not many wolves in the pack like me. I also do not want to make trouble between Maria and her mother. Maria looks at me, and I can see she feels ashamed of how she talked to me. "It is fine. I will throw it away and not wear it again," Maria says. She does not want to sound friendly but does not want to take my money, as I know she feels a little sorry for me. I hate it when people feel sorry for me. I don't care that I am not welcome in the pack or that my parents don't love me anymore. I need no one's sympathy. I nod at her and get up to leave. I will not say anything more to upset Maria and cause trouble between her and aunt Violet. "Goodbye, aunt Violet. I will go and say goodbye to Doc. I loved knowing you, and thank you again for borrowing me the clothing. Goodbye, Maria," I say as I get ready to walk out. "Wait! Where are you going?" Maria asks. She knows, like everyone else, that I have no other family and nowhere else to go. "Away from here. I don't know yet, but I will keep in touch with your mother and father," I say. I did not tell anyone I got a scholarship from Stanford as I did not want anyone to ruin it. I know all the wolves in this pack go to Harvard, so I applied to Stanford. "Do you have money?" Maria asks me. I do not know what that has to do with her, but I will not tell her that I saved a lot of money and hit it in a tree in the forest where Ben could not get a hold of it. Doc paid me well every week as I helped him a lot in the hospital, but no one knew about it as I was not allowed to get paid to work in the hospital. As I said, my parents and the pack took everything from me. "No, but I will find a job somewhere," I say. I walk out, but I am not even halfway to the border before Maria catches up with me. What the hell does she want from me? I did not take anything with me because I did not want my parents to know I was running away. "Wait! Listen to Paris. I am sorry I was always nasty to you. My dad will miss you in the hospital, so you should reconsider running away. Besides, I thought you were going to greet my father," Maria says. "I was going to call him. I know he will try to talk me out of running away. I am going, Maria. Nothing you can say or do can keep me here. The wolves don't want me here. Besides, I want to be free. Please let me go," I say, afraid that Maria will call for help via the mind link. I am also mind-linked to the pack, as a wolfpack always needs to communicate without their enemies knowing what they are saying. "Fine, I will let you go, but you need to go and say goodbye to my father. You owe him that much," Maria says. We both smell and feel them coming over our border as we talk. Other wolves! "s**t, run, Paris, save yourself. I will call for backup!" Maria whispers to me. I can hear her mind-link our warriors, but I know, and I can feel the other wolves are strong, stronger than our pack, and I know we are in danger. "Maria, run back to the pack. I will keep them busy as long as possible," I whisper back. "I can not leave you alone," Maria says. "I will be fine. Run and save the pack! Remember, the pack always comes first," I say. Maria nods as she runs to help the pack of wolves put up defences. I stand my ground as the big brown wolf emerges from the tree line. "Ah, princess, you thought you could get away from me by running into the Ravenstone pack grounds," The brown wolf says. "Princess? Who the hell do you call Princess? I have not run from you! I do not run from anyone!" I say. The brown wolf laughs as he shifts behind a tree. A big older man comes walking out of the trees, now dressed in one of our warrior's clothing. We keep clothes all around the forest, so when we change back from our wolf form, we will have something to wear. "You are hilarious, Princess London. Now, if you come with me, we can leave, and I can have you at the airport before your grandfather comes looking for you," The man says. "Listen, I do not know who you are, and my name is not London," I say. "Jeffrey, grasp the Princess so we can go. The pack's warriors are on their way, and we can not be caught in their territory. King George will be furious with us if we cause trouble in America," Another younger man says. He looks as stiff and unpleasant as the older wolf. They talk with a British accent. I am ready to fight. I do not know these people or wolves, and I will not let them kidnap me! The older wolf comes closer to grab me, but I avoid him and kick him in the balls. He folds over in pain. The younger wolf comes at me, but I drop-kick him before he knows what is happening. About twenty wolves come out of the bushes, and they help the older wolf called Jeffrey and the younger one, who is knocked out cold. I am the strongest warrior in the pack, and I know I can even kick the Alpha and my father's butt! Jeffrey looks at me suspiciously. The wolves surround me, and I know I have no chance of fighting all of them, so I run at the one right ahead of me and kick him in the stomach. He folds over as Jeffrey did, and I run straight to the border as I am not planning on returning home. On my way to the border, I quickly stopped at my tree and grabbed the money I had left there. I know the wolves will be unable to keep up with me as I am younger and faster. I need to get to the nearest city as fast as possible. I do not know who this Princess London is they mistake me for, but I am not about to find out. I run into something that feels like a brick wall and fall flat on my ass. I look up at the huge man standing in front of me. I swear he looks like Frankenstein's monster. "What the hell? Who are you, and why did you stop me?" I ask. "Princess, you do not remember Wallis?" The big guy asks, and I feel sorry for him as it looks like he is about to cry. "Listen here, buddy. I am not a princess, and I have no idea who you think I am. I am Paris Sawyer, and I am or was from the Ravenstone Pack. I break my bond with the Ravenstone pack!" I tell the big guy and break my bond with my pack simultaneously. I do not have time for this s**t. I need to get to the nearest city so the warriors of the Ravenstone pack can not find me. "Wallis! Grab the princess, and do not let her get away!" Jeffrey says as he comes walking out of the trees. "I am not your Princess! I am Paris Sawyer! I am a runaway from the Ravenstone Pack, and I don't know who the hell this princess is you are talking about!" I shout. I am getting fed up with the game these wolves are playing with me. "Princess London, I am tired of you trying to run away from us. Your grandfather sent us to the United States of America to come and fetch you. You know he is very upset with you for running away in the first place," Jeffrey says. He is talking in a proper British accent, and I would find this funny if I were not in a hurry. "Well, sorry, my good lord, but I am not the one you seek," I say in my best English and with a fake British accent. Maybe he will understand me if I talk like he does. "Very funny, Princess! I hate that you have learned to speak like Americans, and now you have their attitude as well," Jeffrey says. I roll my eyes. Please, can this man not see I am no Princess? I start walking around Wallis, and I keep thinking of calling him, Frank. "Well, lord Jeffrey, the first, I don't give a s**t what you think about me as I am no bloody princess," I say. I can see Jeffrey is becoming angry. "Princess, mind your tongue. I did not teach you to talk like that! No lady talks like that! If I hadn't seen and smelled you, I would have believed you, but I know by your looks and your smell you are our princess, and you are being stubborn like always," Jeffrey says, walking after me with Wallis following. Wallis also looks confused. "Oh, for f***s sake! Go away! You will get unwanted attention on me, and I do not want that! Can you leave me in peace!" I shout. "Princess, you know we can not do that. You know your grandfather will kill us if something happens to you," Jeffrey says. "King George, right? I think you are taking your role-playing thing too far. I know you geeks have this role-playing thing in towns or whatever you call it," I say, as I know a few humans are pretending to live in the old times and pretend to be kings, knights, queens, princesses and whatever other stuff they believe in. That is the only explanation I have for the wolves following me. I did not know wolves do this, but who am I to judge them? "What? Princess, I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you drunk, or did you take some pills? Princess, we do not want to hurt you, which is the only reason we have not fought back or grabbed you, but we will use force if we have to," Jeffrey says, still talking like a Brit. "No, my good lord, I don't do drugs or booze, but I think you had too much wine at the fair and shouldn't you be chasing dragons or something?" I say. This lot is irritating the s**t out of me. "Princess, you know dragons do not exist anymore. Well, not what we know of. Anyway, please listen to us. Your grandfather will skin us alive if we don't bring you back home safely," Jeffrey says. "Oh, for the sake of the Moon Goddess. I am not your princess! I told you a thousand times my name is Paris, not London, and I am not a bloody princess," I say. "Maybe she got hit on the head and does not know who she is," Wallis says. "Are you saying I am crazy?" I ask. "No, princess, I am saying you lost your memory," Wallis says, again, he looks like he is going to cry. "Listen, Frank. I am not your princess, my head is fine. I think you are the ones who lost your minds," I say. "I told you she can not remember. My name is Wallis and not Frank," Wallis says. I sigh. Wallis is obviously not the sharpest pencil in the pack. "I know you told me your name, but you keep calling me Princess and London, and I am not her, so I want you to feel what it feels like if I call you by the wrong name," I say. I keep walking to the city I can see in the distance.
