Chapter 5 - One Wrong Decision, One Wrong Move

1006 Words
Nicholas woke up on the other side of the bed that day. He is so angry with himself. Ah, this won't do! I am becoming a new person everyday, he thought. Something must be done to change this. He misses his old self, - playful and having nothing to worry about. He was carefree and he wants to be that again. Why would being with Lenette change all of him? Why did he allow that to happen? He frowned.      No matter what, he already thought of a way to go back to normal again. Come to think of it, he has been living like a completely different person for the past three years, following Lenette's lead. He has given up his friends for the sake of accompanying her and making sure that she is alright. Why did he ever do that? Nowadays, he cannot meet his old friends anymore because they became estranged from him. He did all this because of a woman. Nicholas, you can't be this weak. Women bow to you; you don't bow to them! He reminded himself.      He won't go to the library today. From today onwards, he would not follow the same boring routine anymore. He would change his method of doing things. He does not need to impress anyone now so he would just live his life the way he wants.      He brought out his cellphone and dialled a number.     Ring, ring, ring, ring!     "Hello?" a man's voice came from the other line.     "Jade!" he answered.     "Damn you, man!" Jade answered from the other line. "Who resurrected you from your pit? I haven't heard from you in a million years!"     "Haha! Everything changed, buddy," he answered. "Don't you worry. From now and beyond, I would be the old me. We can hang out again as usual!"      "Shut up! Don't you fool me!" Jade shouted.     "I'm not. In fact, I am calling because I want to meet you today," he answered.     "Seriously? Don't joke around."     "I'm not."     "So where will we meet then?"     "At the bar where we usually hang out."     "Wow! I can't really believe you now. You changed drastically."     "Believe it or not, I am who I used to be."     "Haha! Welcome back, bro."     "Yow!"     He ended the call and changed his clothes. He has to meet with Jade today. Regardless of his reading assignment, he needs to restore his former friendships. He needs to redirect his focus again. This is a good start.      An hour later, he entered into a bar and went straight to the corner where he and his old friends usually meet.      "Ah!" his friends shouted upon seeing him.     He was surprised. It is not only Jade who is here but his other old friends as well. What's more, all of them have partner. He is the only one without one.      "Hey, bro!" Jade said when he saw his expression. "Don't worry. You have a partner reserved for you," he said as he made a sound using his index finger and thumb. A lady dressed in sexy clothing came near. Her top nearly covered her big breasts and her mini skirt hid only her private part.      "Hey handsome," she whispered seductively at his ears upon seeing him.     Nicholas swallowed hard and looked at Jade.     "Don't tell me that you lost appetite of these kinds of sexy women," Jade said with a smirk. "Don't tell me that the gossip regarding you remaining a eunuch for three years is true," he teased him.      He smirked back. "Why should I? Try me," he said and grabbed the lady's waist near his body.      "Woooh!" his friends shouted. "Our prodigal friend is really back!"     Holding the lady's waist, he went near his friends and sat down with them. The lady sat down next to him. She started pouring liquor on the shooter glass and gave it to him. He took it and drank everything with one gulp. She gave her another and he happily drank it again. Then the third shot came then the fourth and fifth. Because he followed her lead, she was so happy that she planted a kiss on his lips. He responded by aggressively pulling her through the back of her head and kissing her on the lips.      After the kiss, the lady sat down on his right leg. He happily welcomed her act. They flirted with each other as if they are the only people in the room. Then she took the shooter glass, filled it with liquor and gave it to him. He drank it greedily like the first one and the same process happened. They kissed again. Ah, he missed this feeling, this feeling of being wanted by someone, the feeling of being served as a man. He missed the pleasure of drinking to his heart's content without being reminded unlike the time when he quenched his thirst for alcohol because he is scared that Lenette would judge him for drinking.      This time, he pulled the lady in a corner and started touching her everywhere. Taking his lead, she gave in and both of them left the bar after that, not even informing Jade and the rest where they are headed. He spent time with her that day that he completely lost track of the time.      Ring, ring, ring, ring!     "Hello?" he said as he answered the phone.     "Nicholas, are you not coming to class today?" It was Lenette on the other line.     "No," he said. "I can't."     "Why? Are you okay? Are you sick?" she said with a concerned tone.     "Y-yes..." he answered. "Look, I can't come. I have to sleep."     "Okay..."     "Bye..."     "Bye. Get well soon."     Nicholas felt guilt cross his heart the moment he turned off the call. He lied to her for the first time in three years.      "Feeling sad, handsome? I can comfort you," the lady lying next to him said and planted a kiss on his cheeks. Grabbing her, he kissed her back passionately on the lips. This is the only way she can forget about Lenette.
