Chapter 2: The Banquet

Mia's Point of View

Everybody did their best to make the banquet tomorrow as perfect as it could because of how excited they were. It will be a big celebration for everyone since it will be our eighteenth birthday but to be honest, I would rather stay in my room to read my books. I don't like socializing with other people because I always feel uncomfortable with strangers. I don't know why but it always feels like they are judging me whenever they look at me. The only people I am comfortable with are our pack members.

“Can you please sit down? You are making me dizzy." I said to my brother who can't relax in one place.

I am now watching my brother walk back and forth here in the living room. He is starting to make me feel dizzy because of it but he is not even stopping. I know that he is nervous about tomorrow because he is not sure if he is going to find his mate. He is afraid that he will never find his future Luna.

“You are just relaxed because you will just turn eighteen while I am already twenty five." He said.

My brother first transformed when he was sixteen but he still hasn't found his mate until now while I first transformed the first day that I turned seventeen so I know that none of our pack members is my mate. I also don't know if one of the guests will be the one however I am not afraid if I will not find him. My family also doesn't know that I already met my wolf, Ashina since I don't know how I would tell them. I know that it is a good thing but I just want to keep it a secret first since they will soon panic for me to find my mate like how they are panicking because my brother hasn't seen his mate yet.

“You just need to calm down, Joshua. It is not the end of the world yet so you can still find your mate." I said. “The moon goddess gave you one and I am sure of that."

He just sighed and sat beside me. I know that he is already frustrated but I don't know how I would comfort him.

“But our father will soon pass his position to me but I still haven't found my luna yet." He said.

I pat his back.

“You can be an alpha even though you still haven't found her yet and I know that you will also be a great alpha to our pack." I said while smiling at him.

Joshua didn't say anything but sigh deeply.

The next day, it is my birthday already. I can hear getting everything done for tonight's celebration so I decided to come out of my room yet.

“Happy birthday, Mia." Ashina greeted me.

“Thank you." I said.

I can feel that my wolf is also excited about tonight because there is a chance that she will meet her mate but I am not. There are a lot of things I want to do before having a mate so I am hoping that we won't still find them tonight.

“Are you not excited for tonight?" Ashina asked me.

She already knows that I am not excited since we are one and I know that she is still confused about why I don't want to find my mate yet.

“I am but we are still young to find our mate," I answered honestly.

“But it doesn't mean that we are going to marry them. They can be our boyfriend." She said.

I sighed at what she said because we also both knew that was not going to happen. Some people said that once you find your mate you will get the urge to get marked and mate during the full moon. I mean he will be my husband soon but I am still not ready for those things.

“You know that is not gonna happen," I said. “We are not even sure if the man that is going to be our mate is a nice man."

Wade's Point of View

“Alpha, we found out that it will be holding a banquet in a few days." One of my allies said.

I told them to watch Dominique Summer's every move because we were just waiting for the moment that we could attack them. Some of my allies even camped near their pack just to know their plans. They risked their lives just to get the revenge that they wanted for a long time.

“Okay, know who will be guarding the walls so we can start planning our attack. We can't just attack again without planning it properly." I said with a stern tone to let them know that this is important.

This is not the first time that we attacked them. We did it a few years ago but they were so secured that our plan failed because one of us decided not to know the exact details that I wanted to know. He just created false information because of his laziness. A lot of our members died during the war and he just ran away from us since he knows that we are not going to win that fight. There are a lot of families who mourn for their loved ones who died to avenge what happened to them but that foolish pup did not even do what he has to do.

“Yes, alpha. We will make sure that we are going to make sure to know every person who will guard their pack for that day." They said before leaving.

They all left my house as I sat here feeling stressed so I rubbed the temple of my head to ease the headache that I am feeling at the moment. I didn't get much sleep for the last few nights because I kept on having a bad dream about my family.

“Are you sure about this, Wade? Are you really going to waste your life trying to kill their family?" Deborah asked.

I look at her and I can see that she is concerned about me.

“Yes, I will not stop until I pacify them all," I said with gritted teeth.

They have killed all my family with our pack without even having any mercy. I also remember that they took my sister with her mate and I already knew that they have made them their slaves to make them suffer because I had found my nephew and niece crying deep inside the woods while their parents were dying. I still remember that they told me how those families maltreated them all which made them die.

“They all can't be a happy family while I am here still grieving for my family's death." I added.

Deborah walked towards me and hugged me tightly.

This woman is the one who took care of me when I was still a young boy. She found our pack and saw that I was crying there while I was everything burned down. There are even some of our pack members crying for hell until their voices stopped as their homes turned into ashes.

“I know what you are feeling but your life is being wasted just for revenge. You still haven't found your luna yet. Are you planning to be all alone as you grow old?" She asked.

I look at her in the eyes.

“Yes, if that is what it takes for me to get my revenge, our revenge." I answered.

Mia's Point of View

It is already the night for us to celebrate our birthday and we are in the same room where we are going to prepare ourselves for the party. There are a lot of guests who have already arrived early for this.

Someone entered the room to fix our make up and I actually feel uncomfortable because I am not used to using this kind of stuff. The only makeup that I use is a tint when I feel like my lips look pale.

“The two of you looks so beautiful. I can't believe that I watched you both grow." Samantha said, the one who are helping us get ready.

She is our pack member who can do makeup so she is the one we call every time there is a celebration. Her make up looks so beautiful that other packs even hire her to do theirs. She is very popular for her talent.

Freya and Samantha started talking with each other while I remained quiet because I suddenly felt that there was something wrong. It feels like there is going to happen that we are not going to like at all.

“It feels like there will be something awful going to happen," Ashina said.

She can also feel what I am feeling at the moment and we are sure about it however I am trying to calm myself because there will be a lot of guards tonight. I know that they are going to do their best just to protect us all.

Samantha finished our make-up so she helped us both wear our dresses. She looks at us after helping and she starts complimenting us both like there is no tomorrow.

“I better get going. They will call you if it is time for both of you to come out so be ready, okay?" She said before leaving us there.

Freya seems to be so happy about what she looks like and I must admit that Samantha did a good job of making me beautiful. I can't even recognize myself because of the transformation she did.

“Is there something wrong?" Freya suddenly asked and she was already staring at me.

“Nothing. I am just nervous for tonight." I answered.

She starts to pat my shoulder to comfort me.

“You look gorgeous so don't overthink much and just enjoy the party. We might even find our mate as soon as we left this room." She said excitedly.

I just sigh and stared at the mirror once again.

One of our pack members told us that it was time for us to get out of our room. There are a lot of guests when my father announces me and Freya. All of them started clapping with smiles on their as if they were happy even though they didn't even know us that much.

Freya is smiling ear to ear but when I look at her she is smiling at Hunter who is also staring at her. Both of them looked surprised and I think I already know why. It seems like Hunter is her mate and she only knows about it at this moment since we didn't even get out of the room here at the banquet hall. Her wish has already been heard but how about the woman that Hunter loves? This is going to be a complicated relationship between them and I hope that Freya can be strong about it.

My mate is not around because I can't even feel or smell him which made me feel relieved because I am not ready yet however Ashina felt a bit disappointed about it. It also seems like my brother's mate is not here also because of how he looks at the moment.

Everyone started dancing and I am just sitting here all alone because I don't want to talk to anyone until Hunter approached me. He was staring at me which is confusing.

“Is there something wrong, Hunter?" I asked.

“Meet me outside." He said.

I look at Freya who is busy having fun and not even dancing with her mate.

I followed Hunter and he is standing there while waiting for me. When he saw me, he tried to kiss me so I pushed him. I was so shocked about what he did until I smelled something strange. Ashina was even acting up.

“Our mate is here!" She yelled.

I look around but there is no one there until rogues start to jump over the wall which makes me jump. They started to charge at me but Hunter protected me.

Hunter pulled me away from there but when we reached the grounds, there were a lot of rogues attacking the guests. My father and his ally are fighting them but we are so surprised that some of them are already wounded.

“Father!" I called him.

I ran towards him and he made me go behind him so he could protect me.

There was suddenly a loud growl which made everyone stop fighting. It came from a big black wolf who is now walking to us and transformed into a human.

“Our mate!" Ashina screamed once again which made me look at the rogue once again.

This rogue is our mate?
