Hell had interesting concepts for markets. The market was as empty as the deserted lanes of earth. The silence was giving me chills. But then having the red-colored, giant demon beside me gave me some relaxation.
"Why is the market so...... quiet? And why aren't people actually shopping here? It looks like people barely shop here." I said, and Basilia laughed, shaking her head.
"Well, only the immortals and the staffs are allowed to shop. Souls repenting for their karma don't have the right to purchase or sell. And immortals are not...... very enthusiastic for shopping. They can simply order them for the delivery." Basilia explained to me and I nodded my head slowly.
"Humans are totally different from immortals then, Basilia. We love shopping. And even on our free days we do window shopping. We walk in the markets. It's refreshing. But markets here are so depressed." I said, looking around the deserted shops.
"How many coins did the Sire give you as advance p*****t?" She asked me and I grinned at her.
"Forty coins."
Soon we reached the shop of dressmakers. An old man was sitting behind the chair, with a measuring tape around his neck. He almost looked like a human to me. Except his pitch black eyes. Basilia had told me, he was a wizard.
"Ο εισαγγελέας είναι εδώ με τον φημολογούμενο άνθρωπο. Τι έκανα για να έχω ξανά την παρουσία σου;" The old man said with a dark chuckle and I felt fear seeping in my my bones. He seemed..... dangerous.
(The prosecutor is here with the rumored human. What did I do to have your presence again?)
Basilia, however, stood there unfazed. His dark aura didn't seem to trouble her as much as it was troubling me.
"Oliver, meet Leah Summers. She is the human directly under the care of Sire." There was a warning in Basilia's tone.
"Ah, the one under Sire's care. Must be a precious one then." He said, his eyes on me. The accent was thick to my ears, making my skin to crawl with disgust.
"As precious as your life, Oliver. Well guess what? Neither is your life, nor is my existence precious to Satan." I said and his eyes flared dangerously making my eyes to narrow further.
"Enough!" Basilia said when Oliver opened his mouth to speak again, making him glare at her. "We're here to buy stuffs, Oliver. Don't get your gaze on her. It's the Sire's order to not look at her if it makes her uncomfortable."
She said and he scoffed, nodding his head.
"Then what can I get for the woman under the care of the Sire himself?" He asked, his voice held sarcasm and I rolled my eyes.
"Are there not any female dressmakers in the hell, Basilia?" I asked her and he only raised her brows at me as she shook her head.
"No, Leah Summers. There's no competition in Hell. There is only one dress-maker in the hell. What's the matter?" She asked me with concern and I shook my head immediately.
"He's making me uncomfortable." I said and he swallowed harshly before getting up from the chair.
"I'll send my wife." He said and a few minutes later a woman walked in. She had even darker skin. Her eyes were pitch black. Maybe she was a witch too.
After buying a couple of my essentials, we left the store and walked towards the other side of the market. For someone who had spent her entire life, living in a world where markets were never deserted, hell was a lot more depressing for me.
"What else do you need, Leah Summers? You only have ten gold coins left. I can't believe this, you spent your advance p*****t in one trip of shopping. Humans are truly ridiculous." She said, making me chuckle as I shook my head. No, we are not that ridiculous.
"Those were necessary, Basilia. A woman can't compromise with certain things. I need pads now." I said and her eyebrows creased together as she looked with me with confusion in her eyes.
"Pads? What are those now?" She asked me and I blinked in surprise. She doesn't know what a pad is? Now, that's a difficult thing to explain.
"Pads, sanitary napkins, tampons, menstrual cups. Anything you use to soak your period blood. Where can I buy them?" I asked her and she pressed her lips, as if thinking hard.
"Oh, period. We don't get them, Leah Summers." She said, and I couldn't help but feel the pang of betrayal hitting my chest.
How fair is that one section of women wasn't experiencing the pain of period, while other was away from it?
"Then how do you reproduce?" I asked her and she laughed at my question.
"Spells, Leah Summers. Spells. Why do you think hell has witches and wizards? And Hell keep its population under control, unlike some planets." She said, giving me the evil eye and I rolled my eyes, shaking my head.
"Hey, I was the only child of my parents, Basilia. But yeah, population control is not something what people on earth understand. But we, humans, get period, Basilia. And I need pads." I said and she looked at me with sympathy.
"Such a weak body has to suffer the maximum pain. You have my sympathies, Leah Summers. And we don't have pads in our realm. None of us ever needed them before. Souls and immortals don't menstruate. What will we do now?" She asked me and I pressed my lips together.
"Has hell ever been into a war?" I asked her curiously and she nodded her head slowly.
"Many times. What's the point?"
"Then you must be needing something to soak the blood if any of your warriors would get injured right?" I asked her and she licked her lips before smiling apologetically at me.
"Spirits have no blood, Leah Summers. I am afraid, there's nothing I can do to help you." Basilia said and for the first time since I came here, I was feeling helpless.
"Who will help me now, Basilia?" I asked her tiredly and she looked hesitant to reply me.
"Sire."

"I was planning to take a bath, human. Maybe you can come an hour later again?" Satan asked me when I knocked on his door.
He was dressed in one of his dark cloaks. It was tied loosely around his waist, letting me see his tanned skin. He must have tied it when I knocked the door. My skin burned red and I quickly looked away from him, respecting his modesty.
"Um, no, I.... I......"
"Is it urgent?" He asked me calmly, now opening the door of his room wider, making my eyes widen as my heart was beating loudly against my chest.
"No, Satan. My.... my bathing can wait. It's just that, I needed to talk with you It's urgent." I said, looking at him with a meaningful glance. He raised his brows, as he looked at me with his intense gaze. Just kill me already.
"Urgent enough that I have to impede my bathing? Or can you wait for an hour?" He asked me. And he wasn't being sarcastic. He was genuinely asking me. Genuinely considering to delay his bath if I had something important to discuss.
I shook my head, swallowing harshly. Get a grip, Leah.
"I can wait, Satan."
"Come back in an hour, human. Exactly after an hour. With your night dress as well. You can bath after we'll be done discussing what you wish to discuss. I don't want to be disturbed in every few minutes." Damn, okay.
"Of course, Satan." With that I rushed back to my room from his door. My heart was pounding inside my chest.
What the hell was I supposed to say? Hey, can you transport some bloody pads from earth to hell? Thank you. Hell, no! That would be too embarrassing. But using cotton or clothe won't be any effective either. Besides they don't even have raw cotton here.
After an hour when I reached his room again, he was dressed in a white cloak this time, making my lips to part. His hair were damp and he smelled like me. Or basically, I smelled like him every time I take bath.
"Stop staring at me, human and come inside." He said, and memories from that night flashed in front of my eyes. Last time he had asked me inside his room, I was flying in the air.
"I won't fly you in the air this time, human. Of course, if you offend me, I can't promise you then." He said and I smiled at him in return.
"My intention was not to offend you last time either, Satan." I clarified and he only snorted in return.
"You didn't let me sleep. I was offended. Come inside." He said and I obliged. His room was so clean that it made me feel jealous of him.
He had bed. He had people to fan him. Poor people. He had far more facilities than my room. I shook my head. I was not here to compare my room with his. He is the King here.
"Tell me, what was that you wanted to discuss, human?" He asked me and I licked my lips.
"I am a woman, Satan." I started and he raised his brows at me, his eyes taking every inch of my body in his eyes as he nodded his head, humming softly.
"I can see that. What's your point?" He asked me and my cheeks reddened in response. Bloody hell!
"And women menstruate!" I said and he blinked back at my words. Wow, Leah. Just great. You have great way of expressing yourself.
"Excuse me?"
"I went outside to get myself some stuffs, Satan. And that's when Basilia told me that females in your realm don't menstruate because they are not really alive. Hence, I didn't get the pads I require." I said in one breath and then he let out a breath. As if he was also holding a breath.
"And what do you expect me to do regarding this, human?" He asked me, making my eyes to flare in anger. I literally told him my problem. That I can't find my stuff!
"You are keeping me here against my will. But I know it's my mistake. I tried to approach another realm. Another creature. But now that you've kept me here, isn't this your duty to provide me the bare minimum?" I asked him and he only looked at me with his impassive and cold eyes.
"Am I not providing you food, human? Am I not providing you with clean bathroom and restroom? Am I not providing you a room to live? How else am I supposed to take care of a human who dared to spoil my sleep?" He asked and I sucked in a breath.
"I know, I'm asking a lot, Satan. But maybe you can just get me organic cotton or anything that can be used to absorb blood. Anything. Because I went to each and every shop, they barely had raw cotton." I said, and he let out a sigh.
"Okay, I'll arrange you something similar. Speaking of which, you would also require a doctor for yourself?" He asked me, and I pursed my lips but nodded my head.
"Not all the times. But we never know when I can catch a flu or something else." I said and he nodded his head.
"I'll arrange medical team for me. I want you to make a list of things you would request from pharmacies, up on your earth. Any medication you need, any supplement you were on. Anything for you...... personal hygiene. Note it down and give it to Basilia." He said to me and a smile formed on my face.
The sudden wave of happiness wanted me to wrap my arms around the King sitting in front of me. The thick coat of euphoria was too high.
"No, human, don't you dare do that. Hug me and I'll throw you in front of my hellhounds." He said in his low voice but I found something inside him choked.
Was he scared of getting hugs?
"I would never dare do that, Satan. Thank you so much for your help." He nodded his head curtly as he pushed his palm towards the bathroom towards the side.
"If you're done with your discussion, finish with your business and leave."
"Of course, Satan. Thank you so much." I said and he only nodded his head.
