Chapter 5

576 Words
As I step out of the elevator, I spot directly an opaque glass wall at the end of the short corridor. Although I have never been here before, thanks to the Human Resources Manager, I can say that the office of my new boss must be behind it. At least one of the two. The Turner brothers share the company, namely to the same extent. I run quickly towards the glass office door too. I pass a desk that will probably be assigned to me in the next few minutes. Only when a male voice sounds through the door, that I am a little nervous than thought: "Come in!" Slowly, I push down the doorknob and then enter the room. A bright room comes to light, which must be due to the window front behind the desk. At the said table sits a blond man in a smart black suit. As soon as I enter the room, he raises his head and looks at me with green eyes. I clear my throat briefly to suppress my excitement, and then greet with a confident voice: "Good morning." "Tomorrow", his rough, deep voice chases me down the back. Barely noticeable, he lets his gaze wander over my body. He remains for a short moment on the neckline of my tight, black shift dress hang. Then he looks at me with a firm look in the face and then slowly rises: "You must be Miss Dawson." I nod in confirmation. Shortly before me he stops and reaches out to me a hand: "Nice to meet you." "The pleasure is mine," I reply with a friendly smile. "Then I'll show you your job best," he puts his hand gently on my back and leads me out of his office back to the desk. There he stops: "This is your workplace, where you take care of my appointments and take calls for me, as well as planning meetings and fulfilling all the other tasks that still occur." I nod in understanding and try to absorb all the information in me to make as few mistakes as possible. "Did you understand that?" He asks, to be sure. "Yes, I have," I tell him, as he seems to insist on an answer. "Great," he gives me a smile, but seems to be somewhere else with the thought: "Then I'll pull myself back. Just ask questions." He turns around and wants to leave, he pulls a note out of his pocket and hands it to me: "It says your password for the computer. Please do not lose the note." I quickly reach for it and fall onto the desk chair. But before I log in, I wait until the man disappears into his office. I lean back and tie my dark hair into a loose braid. Then I press on the 'on' button of the PC and wait until the device is fully powered up. Then I lean forward again and reach for the paper. Slowly I type in the password and then wait a few seconds until the icons appear on the screen. When the time comes, I'll first call up the digital calendar to see if there's anything left that day that I should know about. After all, it should not happen to me that my boss missed one of his appointments because I did not remember him. That certainly would not make a good impression on the first day of work.
