I remembered immediately what he meant the minute he said those words. It wasn't my fault I skimmed over the requirements on the contract.
It wasn't enough that he invited his ex wife to a dinner meant for just the both of us, he was kissing her too. Connor warned me from the beginning that falling in love was only going to make things complicated but now, I wonder if I can help it. It's barely half a year and I'm grappling with my emotions already.
He was too close for me to try and think straight. I wanted to deny that I was just overreacting and should not be bothered about seeing him kiss Anika. But how can I do that when his scent traveled through my nostrils and clouded my sense of reasoning? Or when he held my chin up and commanded me to look at him.
