I get up from my spot in the window and stretch. I glance around the room and sigh. Why does it all have to be difficult? Why don’t people want peace? Isn’t it enough that we will be leaving our beautiful world behind? Why should we change how we present ourselves? I walk towards my bed and sit on the edge. Waiting is the hardest thing to do. I hate that I have to stay up here and hide while my kingdom begins to tear itself apart.
Knowing that something is going wrong in my kingdom just a few days before we are about to move is unbearable. I wish I could let everyone know what that water Element was planning but they don't know that I'm even alive. Even if it was brought to light who’s to say they wouldn’t side with the water element in the end? I Know my parents plan to introduce me to the kingdom tomorrow at the break of dawn but it will mean nothing to the Elements of our world. Why should they care about a princess they never met? Why would they continue to trust the Spirit's when they have hidden such an important thing from them?
I must get my mind off this, there is no point in worrying about it when I don’t have any choice in the matter. I walk to my mirror and start brushing my long purple hair, watching my purple eyes sparkle in the reflection. I have to agree with my mother we are stunningly beautiful. I keep brushing my hair in front of the mirror humming to calm my already heightened nerves. I hear a knock on the door and gracefully walk over and open it only to reveal my mother standing there.
"Daughter, I know you witnessed that conversation and I'd like to hear what you have to say on the matter. I know it has only been two days since you gained your true self but I need to know."
I looked down at the ground then back to her. I knew this was going to happen. I grab her hands gently and guide her to my bed. We sit down at the same time and I look into her purple eyes.
"Mother why is it that no one knows of my existence?" I ask ignoring her first question.
"Because my dear you to valuable to be shown off like a prize."
"But I would like to be known by my people if they don’t know I’m alive then what will they think of me?"
"They’d think you’re too special to lose."
“I understand how special I am but how can a kingdom trust it’s leaders when they have been keeping secrets.”
My mother chuckles lightly and smiles at me. “My dear girl, this has been the way our people have done things for a very long time. It's known amongst the people that an heir exists but you were not to be introduced until you found your true self and mastered said abilities. But you my sweet little girl, are unique among all spirits. You have mastered your skills in two days’ time! And therefore, will be introduced tomorrow at dawn.”
“I see. You and Father have never told me my true name may I know it?"
"Darling you ... you don’t have a name. Your father and I thought we'd let you choose your name. "
"So I... don’t have a name...”
"No darling, I’m sorry to disappoint you."
"Mother you didn’t disappoint me, but if you were to name me what would I be called?"
"I would have named you Zo. Do you know what that means?"
"No, I don’t."
"It means Spiritual leader."
“Its beautiful, and quite fitting.” I chuckle softly. “When do I choose my name?”
“Well dear you have a few options, we can name you, you choose the name or you have the people name you.”
“Well I do like the name Zo.”
“You can have any name you desire.”
“I believe I should think on it.”
“As you wish, now, will you answer my question?”
“I'd rather not.” I sigh.
“My dear girl, I know it may be unpleasant to talk about, but sometimes the only way to get a solution is to talk about the unpleasantness with others and work together to make it more pleasant.”
“I hear what your saying Mother, really I do. But anything I say now won’t change what I know will happen.”
“You never know, unless you try.”
"But I do! That is the whole point to my powers!"
"My dear there is more to your powers than just knowing whats to come. You have that gift so you can fix it, so you can save our future. If you sit and do nothing than what you saw will come to pass, but if you take action you can change it, you can make it all ok."
"But how do you stop a war when the motion is already set in place?"
My mother gasps but quickly regains her composer.
"A war hmm? Well if we know why the war will be started we can take action against it."
"How will that help? Won't that just cause more chaos?"
"That depends on what action we take.
You have much more training to do if you want to be queen one day."
"I couldn't agree more."
She chuckles softly. "All will be OK my love. we will just have to work together."
"If you say so..."
"I do, my sweet Girl. I believe everything will work out."
