Chapter 10 I was exhausted by the time we finally left. Dealing with my family always left me that way. After whatever Cash had said to Mom, she left us alone and acted marginally normal toward us. But I still caught her giving us speculative looks every once in a while that I didn’t know how to deal with. It was best to just let her keep thinking whatever she was thinking. As dusk fell, the moths and mosquitos came out, and everyone crammed into the house. I didn’t want to be there anymore, and I certainly didn’t want to be trapped in that tiny space with all those people. Thankfully, Holden knew exactly what was going on in my head, made our apologies, and dragged me out of the house.
