Preparations

Surprisingly, I slept quite well. I rolled over to find Gavin sitting up in bed with his computer in his lap. He hadn’t noticed that I was up yet. I reached out my finger and tapped a few buttons on his keyboard. He looked down, “Well good morning to you too.” I smiled sleepily at him. “You must have had a very adventurous dream last night. You wouldn’t stop kicking me.” I flipped onto my stomach and wrapped my arms around a pillow. “I sowwy,” I pouted my lips at him. “why are you so cute?” he asked as I smiled and stretched my arms out, “I’m not sure, I was just born this way.” Gavin closed his laptop and tossed it to the end of the bed. He slid his arm under my waist and pulled me into his lap. I tilted my head back to look up at him, “So what do you want to do today?” Gavin was smiling down at me, “funny you should ask. Your brother’s haven’t let up since early this morning. They are dying to see you. Our mother’s also want to start planning your Luna ceremony.” I made a disgusted look, “I know, but it needs to be done my love.” I nodded my head. “There is also Thomas to deal with.” my eyes glistened. I wanted to start with him. I couldn’t wait to see the light leave his eyes.

I hopped out of Gavin’s arms and bounced my knees on the bed. “We need to do that first!” Gavin gave me a cautious look, “baby, I think that you might be a little too excited about his.” I stopped bouncing and bugged my eyes. “Excuse me?” It was that moment that he realized how bad he had just f****d up. I crossed my arms and pouted like a two year old. “Listen baby, you are 1000% justified. I just don’t want this to be a gateway to you becoming a mass murderer.” I rolled my eyes before doing a seat drop on the mattress. Yeah, that was a mistake. My muscles were still too f****d up to do that.

I knew that it was a bit dark to want to take someone’s life. But after what he did to me and my family, I couldn’t let him walk around and continuously terrorize the world. I was doing everyone a favor. I was taking his life for all the women out there that have been treated the way that I had been. I’m doing it for those women that don’t have a voice. One less s****l predator the better.

I quickly dressed and grabbed Gavin’s hand as we headed down to the bunker.

I smelled blood as we walked down the long corridor to the room that they were keeping Thomas in. I could hear his screams echo against the concrete walls. Gavin squeezed my hand as we neared the cell door. “So are you sure that he can’t get to me? What happened to his powers?” Gavin squeezed my hand.

“I promise you my love, he can’t hurt you anymore. Noni whipped up a power blocker, he can’t use dark magic anymore. She was able to strip it from his body. She also placed a protection spell around his cell. As long as he’s in there, you’ll be safe.” I gulped down the lump in my throat. His pungent smell hit my nostrils and I turned quickly to heave into a near by mop bucket. Gavin came up behind me and rubbed my back until I finished. When my stomach was empty I placed my hand over my mouth to mask the smell of vomit. “I’m so sorry, I couldn’t hold it in.” Gavin pulled my head to his chest before kissing my forehead. “Don’t worry my love. After today, you will never have to worry about this again.” I nodded my head against his shirt. “Now come on, we can’t keep Thomas waiting.” A wicked smile curled up at the corners of his lips. Let’s do this.

When Gavin and I reached the door, he stayed a little off to the side. I planted my feet in front of the door and peered in. Cade was there, pummeling into Thomas’s face. Thomas was almost unrecognizable, there was blood splatter everywhere. It looked like someone took a brush filled with red paint and flicked their wrist in every direction. I whistled just as Cade was bringing his arm back, ready for another blow. Cade stopped to look at me, “Cade will you please excuse us?” He bowed at me before slipping past me. He didn’t go too far, in case I needed him.

Now was my chance to speak my mind. I wanted to get everything off my chest, maybe get a couple punches in before I snapped his neck.

I reached forward and grabbed a handful of Thomas’s hair. His face was completely f****d. It looked like every facial bone was shattered. Good, you deserve this and so much more. I knew my eyes were blazing, the amount of rage that was coursing through my veins could have started a fire. I could still see his piercing red eyes through all the swelling. I locked onto them before I spoke,

“You are the biggest piece of s**t on this planet. I cannot wait to hear the sound of you neck snapping. There is a special place in hell for people like you. I hope that you had time to repent your sins, because I know that your punishment will be nothing compared to what I’m about to do to you.” I rolled up my long sleeve shirt and prepared myself, I really wish that Scarlet was here to help me, but I knew that I was strong enough to at least break his bones.

I grabbed hold of his wrists and snapped one after the other. He let out a horrifying scream. Next his elbows. I continued this until I couldn’t take his pathetic screams anymore. I walked slowly around to his back and hooked my elbow under his chin. I leaned down by his ear, “Don’t worry, it will all be over soon.” I grabbed on tight and twisted, effectively breaking his neck.

It hadn’t really hit me until he was laying on the floor covered in blood. What have I done? I know that he deserved way more than I gave him, but I couldn’t believe that I had actually killed someone. I backed myself to the wall and sunk to the floor. Gavin and Cade rushed in to help. I waved them off, “No, no I’m fine. I’m just a little light headed.” they both took a step back as I buried my head between my knees. I took a couple deep breaths before I looked up at them. “Can you guys take me Noni please?” They nodded down at me and reached out their arms for me to grab on to. I took one last look at Thomas’s dead body as I left the cell, that is the last time I will ever have to look at him. Gavin wrapped his arm around my back as he led me to the stairs.

Noni was sitting in the living room with mother and Diane. They all gasped at me when I stepped into view. “What! What’s wrong?” their eyes looked me up and down, mother slowly raised her finger and pointed at my shirt. “Honey what’s that on your shirt?” I looked down at myself. f**k! How could I forget to change? I decided to play it off, I tugged at the hem of my shirt, “Oh this? It’s just some of Thomas’s blood, are those strawberries?” I pointed down at the fruit platter on the coffee table as I went to kneel on the floor. Noni starting giggling while mother and Diane continued to stare at me. Noni actually raised her hand for a high five. I shoved a strawberry into my mouth while giggling as I reached over to Noni. Mother seemed concerned “What on earth were you doing down in the cells?” I stared at her for a second before I answered. If she didn’t like a little blood on my shirt, how was she going to react to the next part. “Oh don’t worry about that anymore, he’s dead.” I took another bite of strawberry. I could see that this conversation wasn’t going anywhere so I decided to change the subject. “Hey Noni, can I talk to you about something.” Noni bowed her head, “Anything my sweet girl.”

We decided to take a short walk around the compound while mother and Diane continued planning for the Luna ceremony. Noni and I took it slow and ended up stopping at a nearby bench along the treeline. Noni grabbed my hand and held it tight. “Before you ask me about Scarlet,” Wait, how did she know that? “I just have to tell you how incredibly proud I am of you. I knew that you were special, I am so devastated at the things that that horrid man did to you. You are so strong my sweet girl, I knew that you would survive. I am so thankful that you are still here, I don’t know what I would have done if there was a different outcome.” Noni started to tear up as she patted my hands. She looked away, into the sun so I wouldn’t see her cry. I slouched slightly and rested my head on her shoulder. She turned her head back and kissed me lightly on the forehead.

We sat in silence for a few more minutes, the sun felt amazing on my skin. It was still a little chilly, we were slowly transitioning into fall. Up here in the mountains, the temperature is always a little chillier because of the altitude. After a while, I realized that I still hadn’t asked about Scarlet. “Noni, I kind of expected for Scarlet to come back once I killed Thomas. I’m worried that I won’t get her back. I don’t think that I can be Luna without my wolf.” She looked at me startled.

“My dear, first of all. You don’t need to be a wolf to be a fearless and powerful Luna. All you need is the love in your heart and the desire to do what's right. You have shown these people how amazing you are with and without your powers . Just because you think Scarlet is gone forever does not mean that your pack will love you any less.” She reached up and caressed my cheek. “And second, Scarlet is back my darling. I can feel her in your fingertips, don’t you feel that?”

I didn’t have the slightest clue as to what Noni was talking about. I thought it  was all the adrenaline still coursing through my body. Noni poked my forehead, “Scarlet is back, you just have to wait for her to show herself. Just be patient, you both have been through so much. When you feel like your ready, try shifting again. I guarantee that that will light a fire under her butt. Now, take me inside. I feel like I need to rest.” I nodded my head, “Yes Noni.”

I felt like I needed a shower, and it wouldn’t hurt to change my shirt If I was going to be socializing the rest of the day. I knew that Gavin was holed up in his office for the day so I needed to fend for myself.

I let my mind wander as I went through my morning routine. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and tried to tame my crazy hair. I knew that our mom’s would be planning my Luna ceremony the rest of the afternoon so I had some time to seek out to see my bros. I really wanted to head to the sparring ring but I knew that that was out of the question. Stupid doctors orders. I’m sure that they were all scattered throughout the compound so I decided to try the one, sure fire way to reach them all at once.

So I hear you guys missed me? I’ll meet you in the backyard in 5 minutes!

It was so nice to be back.

The four of us spent the rest of the afternoon jabbing and joking with each other. It felt like I was back in high school again, back when I had no responsibilities and I could just hang out with my brothers all day. Kevin came along eventually, I loved that he was able to join our group. I loved my mini pack, I knew that I could count on them for anything, I knew that they would continue to protect me, no matter what. I would never be vulnerable again.

Around 3 o’clock my mother sent for me. Apparently she needed my final approval for what they had planned. The ceremony would be held on Saturday, that gave me three full days to prepare. I was hoping that I could get Scarlet to come out by then. It was strange to me that she hadn’t come back yet, maybe she just needed a little encouragement.

After about 2 hours of running through the details, I knew that I was spent. I needed a snack and a nap, my two favorite things. Before crawling into bed, I grabbed my snack of choice. Mainly so I wouldn’t have to get up once I was settled. I Flipped on the TV and snuggled deep under the covers.

I woke up around 6, damn that was another four hour nap. I must have needed my sleep. I sat up in bed and stretched dramatically, I felt all of my bones pop back into place. I was too comfy to get out of bed just yet so I flipped on Netflix and settled back in. I was going to hang out in here until someone found me.

Around 7, Gavin came shuffling into our bedroom. He was holding his lower back, he was probably sore from being hunched over the whole day. He was surprised to see me still in bed, “Did you just wake up?” I c****d my eyebrow, “baby, I’m sitting up in bed, eating a whole bag of flaming hot Cheetos, and re watching old friends episodes. Believe me, I’ve been up for a while.” Gavin came over and stole a Cheeto out of my right hand before heading to the bathroom. I looked after him in disbelief, I can’t believe he just did that!

After Gavin showered he came back out to the bedroom and curled up next to me. We were watching “the one with the embryos.” It was secretly my favorite episode. It was when Chandler and Joey bet Monica and Rachel on of who knew each other better. You know the one where they bet the apartment and lose? Yeah that one. We sat in bed for a little while longer before Gavin’s phone started to buzz. He looked down and saw who was calling, “I’m sorry baby, I got to take this.” I gave him a reassuring smile. “Hello this is Alpha Gavin… Yes of course Luna… yes we can do that… yeah, Saturday night after the ceremony… yes of course, yes we will see you then.” He smiled at the phone, and hit the red button.

“Who was that?” I c****d my eyebrows, he smiled at my pang of jealousy.

“That my love, was the acting Luna of Opal Moon. Some members of her pack are getting restless. They would like to head back to their own territory as soon as possible. She wanted to have a meeting with our pack and Blue Moon about what she should do now that the threat has been neutralized.” I turned a little bit more on my side and propped my hand under my head. “I was wondering what was going to happen when all of our lives went back to normal.”

Gavin leaned over to me and pressed his lips against mine. He pulled back as my stomach started to growl. “I guess I need something of substance huh?” clearly the Cheetos weren’t doing it for me.

“It would be nice for you to go downstairs and mingle a little. After all, they will officially be your pack on Saturday.” he had a point, I was just too comfy. I knew that I would have to face these people sooner or later, but I didn’t want them to see me as weak. Gavin sprang out of bed and pulled a t-shirt on over his head. He reached out his hand, waiting for me to take it. I sighed dramatically and flew the covers to the side.

Dinner went well, there weren’t too many people downstairs. Chef had actually been preparing some of my favorite dishes hoping that I would come down. He was beaming when he finally saw me. “Good evening Alpha, Luna. Perfect timing, I whipping up your favorite.” He set a plate with a medium rare steak with mash potatoes and asparagus. My mouth instantly salivated, “and for dessert! We have blueberry cheesecake!” I couldn’t contain my excitement, my pack takes such good care of me.

I woke up to the sound of Gavin snoring, he was literally on top of me. I guess he wasn’t joking about never letting me out of his sight. I stealthily wiggled out of bed, I froze when I heard him stir behind me. It was only 5:30, I didn’t want to wake him yet. It had been three days since I killed Thomas. I know that Gavin had been so stressed out with preparations for tonight’s meeting as well. I wanted to make sure that he got the chance to sleep in a bit. Diane had planned a “fabulous” Luna ceremony for me tonight. I wasn’t quite ready for a celebration but I knew that it would help life get back to normal.

Once I got to the bathroom, I assessed my remaining injuries. The bruise around my left eye was now light enough where I could easily cover it with makeup. I had made an appointment with Dr. Nelson to do a more in depth exam. I felt great, I started to feel like my old self again. I remember when she told me that I could start running again, I was over the moon. Kevin had become my fitness buddy, Conner seemed more and more distracted the last couple days. Something was up, I was secretly heart broken that he wasn’t telling me what was going on. I was just throwing my hair up when Kevin popped into my head.

Hey bug, are you ready to go?

Almost, I just want to grab something to eat quick.

Okay, I’ll meet you in the kitchen in 10!

I walked back into the bedroom to kiss Gavin on the cheek, I would be back before he woke up so I didn’t bother leaving a note.

Kevin was sitting at the island munching on some dry granola. “You know you can add milk to that.” I said as I walked around the corner. He swiveled on his stool to flash me a mega watt smile. “hurry up and grab something, I want to get going as soon a we can. I rolled my eyes while facing the fridge.

“Alright don’t get your panties in a bunch, I just want to grab an apple. Do you want a water bottle?” I asked him from the fridge. He shook his head and tried to answer with his mouth full. He ended up spitting dried granola all over the counter top. He stared down at the mess, “Oops.” I started hysterically laughing “So I take that at as a no?” He then grabbed a huge handful of granola and hurled it at me.

We headed out the back door and started stretching in the field. “So what else are you going to do today?” I shrugged my shoulders before reaching down to my toes. “I don’t know, I have to head to Dr. Nelson after this, she wants to do a follow up exam.” I took a long pause as I stretched out my back muscles, “we have the ceremony tonight so I know your mother will be along to collect me for spa day around 11.” I started bouncing, trying to wake my muscles up.

“Have you heard anything from Scarlet yet?” He asked me that everyday. I had told my brothers the other day about what Noni had said about Scarlet coming back. I explained that my body had started to feel stronger the last couple of days. I missed her so much, I was in essence human. I always wondered what it would have been like and now I get the real deal. I shot him a sad glance and shook my head. “I’m so sorry, I’m sure she’ll come back soon.” I nodded my head at the thought of Scarlet trotting back into my fore front. I had to shake it off, I didn’t want to be sad today.

Once we got back from our run, Kevin put boxing mitts on. He clapped his hands together before I started swinging. “Hey Kevin, I got a question?” He winced slightly as my left foot swung into his right hand. “Since when did you start calling me bug?” He smiled brightly, “Well, I’ve been spending a lot of my spare time with your brothers. They told me that it was a nickname that they gave you when you were young, you know since you’re a pest?” His eyes glittered with amusement. “They said that you would hate hearing it again after all these years.” I dropped my arms, they were right, how did I forget how much I hated that? I felt like a total dumb ass, although I did understand why they called me that. it was kind of fitting, I can be so over the top that it bothered some people. I decided to steer into the skid, why not? I’ll have to accept that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea.

Kevin and I trained for a couple hours, my body was burning by the end. Kevin is one hell of a personal trainer. I’ve trained before, but not like this, I needed to rub it into Conner’s face for being so distant lately

Hey Conner, I think Kevin is going to replace you as my personal trainer. He just kicked my ass, have you been going easy on me all these year?

The hell he is! No one kicks my little sister’s ass but me.

Suddenly, they were all jumping in.

Ooh fight in the front yard! I got $20 bucks on Kevin. Sorry Conner, I got to go with the odds.

If any of you harm a hair on her perfect little head I will kill you all. And I’ve got to go with Kevin on this one too.

Kevin and I looked at each other and cracked up, “Well let’s stretch, sounds like Conner is coming to kick your ass.” Kevin winked at me, “I think I can take him.”

We wrapped up our training around 9, I needed a shower before going to see Dr. Nelson. Gavin must have retreated to his office while I was gone. The apartment was empty I could tell that the Omegas had been in here cleaning. Everything was neatly tucked away and the bed was nice and tidy. I stripped down and tossed my workout gear in the hamper by the bathroom door. The hot water felt amazing against my aching body. I stood in the shower until my fingers were wrinkly. I dressed quickly and headed to for the hospital.

“Everything looks great, I can tell that your body is healing at an accelerated rate. Your wolf must be warming up for her grand entrance. I would say to keep taking the meds I gave you, as needed for any pain. They don’t have any serious side affects.” She stopped to jot down a few notes before she continued, “Also, have you tried shifting yet?” I shook my head, “okay, well there’s no rush, I was just curious. Also, if you are going to be s****l active, be sure to take it slow. You have finally healed down there, I don’t want you to have any further complications.”

I gave her a shy smile and nodded so she knew that I understood. We chatted a bit before she excused herself so I could get dressed. I hopped off the table and headed back to the house.

Before heading to the apartment I decided to stop off at Gavin’s office. I knocked softly before popping my head in? He locked eyes on me when I opened the door, “Can I come in?” He shut his laptop, “Of course bug.” Oh no, not you too. I rolled my eyes as he wheeled back from his desk and patted the top of my lap.

When I was situated, he kissed the side of my neck. All of my nerve endings were on high alert. I could feel my face turning red, everything south of me started to radiate. “How did you doctors appointment go?” I explained to him that Dr. Nelson gave me the green light in all areas.” A lustful grin spread against his lips. I tried to change the subject, “So what are you working on.” He smiled at me once he realized what I was doing. He cleared his throat, before glancing over at the papers on his desk. “Nothing much just some logistics for housing. I’m a little stressed out at all the extra mouths we’re about to take in.” He continued when he saw the look of confusion on my face. “I spoke to Luna Katie, she had informed me that several of her members had actually mated with several of our warriors. Over the last couple days.” I nodded along as he spoke. “I also heard that a couple more pairings have happened in Blue Moon as well. Katie is looking into trying to either merge her pack with us or return and continue to grow out in Opal Moon territory. It’s actually quite frustrating, at least well have more information by the end of the day.” He placed his hand on my bare thigh and I felt the fireworks spark again. Okay I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I bent down and kissed him with all the passion and love that I could muster. I pulled away from him a little, “Well if you are really that frustrated, you must need some type of release.” his eyes lit up before turning black, I could feel the familiar moisture building between my legs. It was on.
