I heard my alarms going off around 5, I linked with Kevin right away.

I carefully extracted myself from Gavin’s arms. He was out cold, he didn’t even stir when my weight shifted off of the bed. I’m pretty sure I’m good. I tip toed over to the closet to get dressed before I headed down for breakfast.

One of the Omegas, Trudy was on shift this morning. I was secretly stoked that this was her shift, she makes the best omelets. She beamed at me when I came in, “Ah, good morning Luna. Kevin kicked my ass today, I was so surprised at how winded I was getting after a simple workout. We ran 5 miles, 2 hours of sparring and scrimmage, and an hour of yoga for a cool down. Kevin and I sat on the sidelines and watched as some of the other warriors continued to train. I couldn’t help but feel like my time was ending as a warrior, if Gavin and I were trying for pups, I knew that it would only be a matter of time until I had to quit. I loved it so much, I liked to travel and build relationships with other packs in the area. I felt like it made everyone a little stronger. I didn’t want to give it up, but I knew that some time very soon, it would have to happen. I took a deep breath and tried to forget about it, at least for now. I turned my attention to Kevin. “How are you doing buddy? Is your heartache getting any better?” Kevin gave me a shy glance and shrugged his shoulders. “Not really bug, I feel like it’s getting harder and harder for me. I’m constantly reminded of her everyday, I really wish that I could move on but I feel like I’m just not ready. I see her with her mate, and I see how incredibly happy she is. “I’m sorry Kevin, is there a way for you to distance yourself? Maybe if you can block her out of your mind, it might be easier to move on.” Kevin straight up looked like he was going to start crying.

“Oh bug I really wish that I could, but I see her almost everyday. We still talk constantly, but I don’t think that she has any idea how I feel. I really want to tell her everything, but I don’t want to spoil her happiness. If I told her how I really feel, it would ruin everything.” I nodded along trying to think of another plan for him to try. “Well, have you guys officially rejected each other? Maybe if you sever the bond for good, then your feeling would change.” He shook his head rapidly, “As much as it hurts, I don’t want to break our bond. I don’t know how we would react afterwards. I don’t want it to ruin our friendship. With the bond being weak like it is, I don’t know if she even feels the same way. With you and Gavin, you two were drawn to each other like magnets. I have a strong pull to her, but I don’t think that it’s the same for her.”

You need to let the healing officially take place.” Kevin nodded along in agreement. “Katie is still recovering, so I would wait until next weekend to talk to her. I can keep Matt distracted long enough for you to break your bond. I know that it will hurt but just know that I am here for you. I know that Katie would not be mean or spiteful in anyway. Just rip the band aid off, I know that deep down, she would want you to be happy.”

Kevin and I talked for a little while longer until Kevin got a link from Cade. I knew that he had Beta s**t to attend to. I sat in the grass a little while longer before I started to feel a little drained. After the heart breaking afternoon that I have had, I desperately wanted some release. I knew that a bath or a run wouldn’t cut it. Gavin was stuck in his office all day so I decided to try and take a nap.

I grabbed his hand and gave it a tight squeeze, “Yes baby, she’s just fine. Just kicking a little bit.” My son’s emerald eyes flickered with excitement at my assurance. I didn’t even know their names, but I was so drawn to them. They were my boys, and I couldn’t wait until they were actually a reality.

I felt Gavin’s hand on my shoulder, he was jostling me awake. “Were you having a good dream bug, you were smiling from ear to ear.” I finally was able to flutter my eyes open and look up at Gavin. A smile spread across my lips at the possibility of my twin boys. “Yes babe, I had a fantastic dream.” He sat down on the edge of the claw foot tub and looked down at me, “Tell me about it then.” He seemed super excited to hear about my dream. Knowing him, he was probably thinking it was a dirty dream. His expression continued to change as I went on with my story. His eyes lit up when I mentioned our twin boys and the fact that I was pregnant with our third. When I was finished with my dream he sunk down to his knees and grabbed my hand. He kissed my knuckles, “You didn’t know this, but I had a very similar dream last night. Instead of twin boys it was twin girls.” My mouth dropped open. Once again this was the Moon Goddess’s doing, she was making sure that we were prepared for the near future.

Gavin and I walked with our hands swinging between us. We were talking through possible baby names. I had never thought that this would be something that I wanted, now that I had a glimmer of hope, I was all for it. We spent about and hour or so strolling along the treeline. The sun was just starting to set beyond the ridge, the temperature began to drop but it wasn’t too cold yet. We started heading back to the house to prepare for dinner. I knew that we would probably go over more wedding details with Diane afterwards. I actually didn’t mind doing a little bit at a time, it kept the whole process from becoming overwhelming. Diane was always so understanding, she kept it short and sweet. She knew that I wouldn’t be able to focus on too much at a time.

Once the last couple details were ironed out, Gavin excused himself to take a call from Matt down in Opal Moon. Diane started to stack up all of her books before turning to me and placing her hand over mine. “How are you feeling dear, I know that this last year has been pretty crazy for you.” I smiled sweetly at her and shrugged my shoulders. “I’ve been okay, just trying to keep my head on straight. I’m glad that we have a few more days free before we head out again.” She nodded along, before responding. “I know that traveling can be a lot sometimes, have you ever thought about staying behind and doing training here? I know that you love to kick ass my love, but I can tell that it’s just exhausting the both of you.” I giggled when she said that I love to kick ass, Diane had never said anything like that to me before.

“I totally understand what you’re saying Diane, I know that Gavin has been getting close to his breaking point. He’s not crazy about constantly putting me in harms way. It’s just that, this is the only way that I can think of to help others. There are a lot of different types of hybrids out there. I wish that someone would have trained me about how to handle them. If I had known more, maybe I would have avoided getting kidnapped.” Diane gave me a shy smile, “What happened to you was terrible my love, I can see how incredibly strong you are to have over come it. I just don’t want you to get carried away, I don’t want you to lose focus on your own people. The work you guys are doing is incredible, we couldn’t ask for a more passionate Alpha and Luna, I just don’t want you two to burn yourselves out.” She leaned over and kissed my cheek, “Well, I’m off to bed darling. Thank you for sitting down with me tonight, I will see you in the morning.”

 I blew Diane a kiss as she headed up the stairs. I know that she had a point, but I wasn’t quite ready to stop just yet. I shook it off and pushed myself up from the table. I signaled for Gavin and saw him hang up his phone moments later. He came back in through the sliding glass door. “Ready for bed bug?” He said as I yawned obnoxiously. Gavin bent down and scooped me up and we headed over to the elevator.
