A few days later, Lamar reluctantly returned to Asherway but he was a complete mess. The Captain and the team noticed it at their practice. The man who was their backbone, always alert and fast, was so absentminded. Lamar was even dropping the ball, something that was unheard of in his career. For the first time, the whole team believed that he was unfit to even be a substitute player for their coming game.
Captain BB was worried by the change in his friend. Lamar had not taken his calls since Lola’s story broke. Now that he was back in Asherway, Lamar was keeping to himself and not interacting with anyone. He would normally give someone space until they were ready to talk, but Lamar was sinking. He decided to approach him.
“Lamar, my man. Please talk to me,” Captain BB pleaded.
