Javier disappeared, but kept his word. I took my 10k got my own apartment and left school. I danced private parties, multiple clubs, and I kept my options open, when I got blood thirsty I would find a guy liked to be roughed up and take the blood and s*x in one before going home.
I hadn’t killed anyone since Javi needed help, and I knew when I did that and sent the souls to Hell… Lucifer would be looking for me. As of 6 weeks ago, he hadn’t found me once. I lived near a church, one of the oldest in the city so while I avoided it, I knew he wouldn’t look for me here.
Walking home after a party I started to see shadows. Nothing scary or out of the ordinary, but I knew it was my siblings warning me. He either found me or was getting close to it
I got back to my place, pulled the cash I had out of its hiding place, and grabbed the clothes I liked.
This body came with a passport so I hopped on a plane to Rome. I had heard so much about it, but seeing everything, feeling the plane fly, the new buildings, the ruins, the culture that was still thriving, it was amazing. I used a lot of my money until I got to a party town.
I danced, found some rich men, got paid in trips and drinks. It was the life of a pretty young girl. One guy took me from Rome to Crete to Spain, a big loop almost and when I left him I got to more clubs. I danced and drank and when some guy tapped me on the shoulder I shooed him away and turned, when he grabbed me, I twisted his wrist and shoved him away.
“Mr. Del Torro would like to see you.” He pointed up as he kept his hands up and away from me.
“No thanks.” I told him recalling the last name. I turned, went through the crowds and I ordered a few yummy drinks before the bartender came back and told me someone cut me off and that they were sorry but they couldn’t lose their job.
I turned after leaving a tip and moved to leave the club. I got a block away when I could tell two men were following me.
I stepped into an alley and into the shadows to wait, they came around and cursed when they didn’t see me and I waited even longer as a car pulled up to collect them.
I glared at them as they drove away and I went back to walking to the boats. The guy said if I wanted more fun to just come back… so here I was ,hoping to ride this guy into the next country.
“He’s no longer waiting for you.” I heard his voice the second I noticed the yacht was gone.
“Well, too bad. He was fun. But I guess all men are like you.” I saw him as I turned around, holding his jacket out for me as if I was cold, but I bypassed him and went up the deck, getting to the cobblestones and walking away. He was following, closely, and while I didn’t feel threatened, it was annoying.
“I have a room at-“
“I don’t think so. You left and never contacted me again… I’m not your call girl anymore Javier.”
“I had to get out of the country.” He told me and I shrugged, didn’t make a difference.
“So what? You see me on vacation, having fun and you demand me?” I asked knowing that was what happened, if not at the club but when he sent the other guy with a boat away.
“I ask. I offer, I never demand.” He told me and I rolled my eyes and kept walking. I got to a hotel, a slightly nice one and Javi followed me right in. “She will be on my tan.” He handed over a card and I sighed, told the guy to never mind and left the place, trying to stay ahead of him wasn’t working, so I decided to use my tricks.
I got to a fence, seeing how easy it would be for me to jump, I pulled myself up and over and smiled as Javier glared at me through it. “Take a hint Javi. I’m leaving you like you left me.” I told him before turning and going down the private alley.
I got to a few exits in the shadows before hearing the whispers.
He’s here
He’s coming
He will take you home
I looked around, waiting before hearing a car on the other side. I pulled myself up and over before landing on the hood of the car. I scooted and saw Javier with a smirk and I took a breath.
“Wanna help?” I asked seriously and he looked concerned before nodding.
“Someone after you?” He asked when I started to look around. “Minerva-“
“Shush, don’t.” I knew if the devil knew I was near he would hear my name on his lips and come quick. “Get in the car, drive to any church.” I told him as I got in the back with him and the driver nodded slowly.
I would feel sick on the church grounds but Lucifer couldn’t get to me there.
I felt sweaty and cold at the same time as we drove into the parking lot. I got to the first or rather last row of pews when I couldn’t walk anymore and I could faintly hear Javi asking me questions over the buzzing in my head.
I suffered through the night refusing to leave the church and I could see Javi pacing and on the phone, but when the sun came up I pushed myself up.
I walked to the street and collapsed from the feelings of sickness and punishment leaving my body.
“Minerva-“
“Stop saying my name, just shush.” I told him as I now started to push myself up. He helped me up and watched over my face before seeming confused.
“Do you feel better?”
“Immensely, now I’ll be off.” I told him knowing I needed to get out of the country now that the devil knew where I was.
“Where? You refused the hotel-“
“Airport. Leaving remember.” I told him and moved to look for a taxi.
“I took your clothes from that man, the one on the small boat, would you like them?” I rolled my eyes at the small boat comment and turned, clothes was the last thing on my mind, but it would help.
“Sure.” I told him and he smiled, “what?”
“They’re on my boat.” He told me and I sighed. “If you want them you have to come with me.”
“Of course I do.” I rolled my eyes and he got closer, smirking as he looked me up and down.
“And I’m heading to France, willing to come with me, might save you a plane ticket.” He told me and I looked at him and wondered why he wanted me with him all of a sudden.
“Sure.” I got in his car again, not letting him touch me, and we rode the 15 blocks to the docks before he opened my door and tried to help me out. I kept my hands to myself and walked behind him to the boat.
“I never got the opportunity to thank you.” One of the guys on the boat said when I passed him and he bowed his head, “Thank you Minerva for saving us that night.” He sounded sincere so I just nodded back and looked for my things.
“Move up the time line, we’re headed to Monaco now.” I heard Javi and it wasn’t 20 minutes later we were moving. “Drink?”
“No.” I told him and he nodded slowly Brit moving to sit where he could see my face.
“Why are you here and not in school?”
“I’m moving on.” I told him and he tilted his head slowly like he didn’t get it. “Never wanted to be in school, I made enough money to travel, so I am.” I told him and he nodded slowly.
“You’re 19?” He asked to make sure and I rolled my eyes. “20?”
“Sure.” I knew this girl had her birthday already in the months I had been inside her, so yeah, seems about right.
“Very young to be out in the world alone.”
“You know nothing about being alone, you have people with you all the time.” I shot my eyes to his guys in suits as a gesture of my meaning and he looked at them before me.
“They’re not good company.”
“But you think I am?” I asked with a laugh knowing before I decided to do this I scared many of the men in Hell I had to visit.
“I know you are.” He topped his scotch off and winked at me before he leaned back. “Are you going to tell me who you are running from?”
“I don’t run, I’m not like you. I’m exploring.” I told him and he laughed.
“You need to lie better.”
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” I muttered before seeing some of the lasting shadows grow eyes near the water.
I’d have more than enough time to disappear during the daylight.
