Alexis watched her mom as Connors expression turned to shock. all their eyes on her mother now. " well dear I thought you knew?"
" knew what?" connor waited for her to respond.
" well this is your mother's home town. she met your father and left but before then she was born and raised here. I thought you knew. she was one of my best friends growing up. there was no one like her. there never will be again. she was special that girl." connor looked at her.
" mom? you knew his mom?" Alexis looked stunned as her mom shook her head.
" yes, honestly I had no idea you didn't know connor. I'm so sorry. "
" please don't be upset. " a pained look flashed in his eyes and Alexis fought the urge to reach out and hold him. " my father never talked about her. after she passed away all I had was the few memories I had of her and a few pictures. after that he just worked and womanized. he didn't have time to tell me much." Alexis could no longer resist. she reached her hand under the table grabbing a hold of his hand. he looked at her and squeezed it tighter. she hoped he never let it go.It felt like a game of cat and mouse that she could play with him forever.
" well if you ever have questions or want to hear the stories I have them. even got some pictures I can dig out. I was there when you were born and a little while after but then we lost touch when you were about 1. I suppose life just got away from us and we got busy. " he smiled at her genuinely.
" I would love that if you ever have the time.... " Connor was cut off as someone knocked on the door. Alexis jumped up out of her chair.
" I'll get it " she couldn't help the irritation in her voice. as she made her way to the front door pulling it open she was met by disdain and disappointment. " what are you doing here Chris?"
" you keep ignoring me. we need to talk " she looked towards the kitchen not wanting this at the moment. " just come out here and listen." Chris looked at Alexis determined to get his way. Alexis couldn't remember what she ever saw in him. He was handsome for sure but other than looks he had nothing. He was always aggressive and rude to her and felt he owned her.
" make it fast. you're the last person I wanted to see tonight. I thought that was clear when I wouldn't answer you." she grabbed her jacket as she closed the door behind her. her body language was clear she was not happy but Chris ignored it not giving her space. " Chris back up. I don't want you close to me."
" I want you back Alexis. take me back. I messed up I'm sorry." he pleaded with her begging her. she shook her head trying to figure out how sleeping with his ex was an accident.
" you slept with your ex because I wouldn't have s*x with you Chris. that wasn't a mistake. I want you to leave." he stepped closer to her as she stepped away from him. " I said stop. I don't want you here."
" I'm not leaving...." his words were cut off by a deep voice behind him. Alexis didn't realize the front door had opened up and Connor had walked out.
" I think you need to back away. she told you to leave." Connor stood taller than Chris and his body was lean and muscular. Chris worked his parents farm but you could tell Connor worked out all the time.
Chris huffed out disapproving of Connor interfering in his conversation. Alexis looked on surprised. no man had ever stood up for her before besides her father and since he died there was no one. " stay out of this conversation. it doesn't involve you."
Connor looked like he was growing irritated by the disrespect Chris had for Alexis. he walked over to Alexis and placed an arm around her waste pulling her towards him. " yes this does involve me since this involves Alexis. " Alexis tried not to let her mouth drop open. oh crap he just pretended to be her boyfriend.
" Chris you need to leave." she looked at Connor who was smiling at her with the biggest grin she had ever seen. Chris looked at her and then at Connor. as he retreated down the steps he looked back at Alexis.
" this isn't over Alexis."
" yes Chris it is. you aren't welcome here anymore." he let out a small chuckle that sent a chill down her spine. Chris had been the popular kid in high school and Alexis had fallen for his charm but soon that charm turned to possession and he was trying to tell her how to dress and act. then one night she found him in bed with his ex girlfriend and she couldn't do it anymore. that was almost a year ago and he still wouldn't leave her alone. she turned to Connor as he dropped his arm from her waste. " thank you for that. I'm not sure how many rumors you will have to endure now. I'm sorry."
" there could be worse rumors then me dating a pretty girl. I could think of much worse." she laughed at him. " if you are ready I can grab my coat? I'm not sure I can make it back on my own yet."
" of course! go get your coat." she waited for him on the porch. soon they were walking slowly back to his place. " sorry you had to deal with that."
" I don't mind. glad you decided you deserved better."
" how much did you hear?" she watched as Connor looked up into the night sky. she stopped walking to admire him.
" enough to know that he didn't ever deserve someone as beautiful as you." she was glad it was night so he couldn't see her blush. Her face turning a bright red. She could feel the heat on her face.
she sighed as their eyes met. she stared into them briefly before looking away in shame of what she allowed him to do to her. " Chris was the guy who was charming and perfect and promised me the world. then when I wouldn't put out like he wanted he got it from other sources." she looked back up at the night sky. " he told me what to do and how to act and dress and everything in my life he controlled. when I told him it was over he just wouldn't take it. kept telling me I was his. " Connor reached over pulling Alexis to him wrapping her up in his arms. she felt the stress melt away from her muscles as he held her to his rock hard chest. she leaned in enjoying the comfort this simple act gave her. she still wasn't sure how she felt like this for someone who was a complete stranger. she felt the stinging in the corner of her eyes. she tried to keep the tears from spilling but they just kept coming. he tightened his arms around her as her tears turned to sobs. " I'm sorry." she pulled back and wiped the tears with the back of her hand.
" don't be sorry." he reached out and pulled her to him again. " just let it out." they stayed like that for a moment longer as she let out all her frustration.
" thank you." she watched as he stepped back from her. " I think I needed that. I'm sorry your shirt is soaked now!" he laughed as he glanced at his shirt.
" Alexis?" He looked down into her eyes not taking them off of hers.
" hmm?"
" can I kiss you? please?" He was pleading with her. she couldn't explain what got into her as she reached her arms up around his neck pulling him closer to her lips. his arms went around the small of her back as his lips crashed down on hers taking in the soft silk of them. it sent chills down her spine. she had never felt this with Chris. he traced her lips with his tongue as she opened her mouth slightly allowing him to slip inside her mouth. she let a soft moan as his need of her deepened. he pulled her closer pressing her tightly against him. she wanted more in that moment not knowing if she should try to take more. she felt his hands roaming her side and up her back slowly creeping up the hem of her shirt. the minute she felt his hands on her bare skin. she could feel intense pleasure shoot through her body.
He pulled back resting his head on hers. " oh my God that was the best kiss I ever had" he whispered into her mouth his hands still up her shirt.
she was panting hard trying to catch her breath. " yes" she managed to get out. she had never felt this with Chris before. she didn't have much to compare it to but this had blown her mind in ways she never felt possible. " we should get you back home." she stepped back instantly missing the closeness they once had.
