Noah POV
I stood in front of my father, my back straight and my shoulders back, I needed to show him how serious I was with my decision.
“You want to take Emmi as your chosen mate?” He queried.
I couldn’t tell what his reaction was going to be, he always kept such a straight face, never showing the slightest bit of emotion.
“I do father. I believe she will make the perfect Luna.” I explained.
“I agree. You have my blessing for the match.” For the first time in years I saw a slight twitch in his lips, as if he were about to smile, but decided against it. “Does she know of your intent?”
“Not yet, I am not sure how she will take the news.”
“I am her alpha. Inform her that I insist upon this union.” He says finally, to which I nod.
“Yes father, thank you.”
I almost jumped for joy when I received his blessing, it had been the only thing I had wanted for years now. She was the only one I had wanted for years. The way she held such an air of confidence about her, the way she possessed so much passion for the things and people that she cared about was what drew me in.
I had never felt this way about any other girls, of course on the rare opportunities I had mingled with the other pack members, there was plenty of she wolves who would practically throw themselves at their future alpha. However, I wasn’t interested in the high maintenance, power seeking females, they would undoubtedly cause me no end of trouble.
Emmi would be perfect for me, independent, feisty, not to mention she was already my best friend. I knew my decision would get my sister’s approval, they were already joint at the hip, the slightest thought of having her as a sister in law would, without a shadow of a doubt send Livvi into a frenzy of elation.
The only thing that I fretted over would be sharing the news with Emmi. I knew she was awaiting her fated mate, but my father never allowed her to leave the pack’s territory, so in truth I doubted she would ever find him.
When I reached the training ground, my smile dropped. I looked on the floor to see three of our pack’s strongest warriors groaning and writhing in the dirt, bleeding. I noticed that one even had a displaced leg bone jutting out at an abnormal angle, while Emmi continuously punched a fourth opponent, as he swayed on his feet.
Ok, maybe now is not the right time to share the good news.
Aran POV
I smile to myself, my plan couldn’t have gone any better. Even without any encouragement my son had fallen in love with the little princess.
From the moment I had taken her away from her family, I had the intention on trading her for an alliance with another pack. She was a true beauty, and I had trained her to become the strongest and most powerful fighter she could be, it wasn't difficult, she possessed more strength than I had ever seen. If another alpha were not interested in taking her as a Luna for their pack, they would at least desire a warrior of her capability.
It was when I met my chosen mate that she had given me the idea. We had once been very close ‘friends’, when I found her, she was living as a rogue. After a couple of days of visiting her I noticed that she had a small pup clinging to her. I looked at the young boy and recognised him as my own immediately.
Even without a parental bond being forged, my wolf had claimed him. My anger boiled in my veins, she had carried and birthed my child without me even knowing. My heir was being raised without me.
Maxine revelled in the solace and freedom of being a rogue, so her punishment was an easy one, she would become my Luna, I would have her tied to and worshipping me for the rest of her life. What I didn’t expect was that she was just as, if not more, conniving than I was. She was the one that suggested that we keep the little royal pup for our son, he deserved a strong mate like her. With her by his side running the pack, the pack would be the most revered.
We had to take precautions, Maxine knew of a witch. She was a powerful witch that still practised the art of the ancient magic. The type of magic had dyed out centuries ago, the gods had begun to forge mate bonds between witches and humans, dulling their powers and rendering the species weaker. But this particular witch was older than the mate bond, she was more powerful than any other witch in existence, she was more powerful than entire covens.
Maxine had told me that the witch, Eos was hundreds of years old, nearly a thousand, but when I caught sight of her she didn’t look a day over thirty. I marvelled at her beauty, her shining, blonde locks flowed to her waist in waves, her golden robes clung to every curve of her perfect body as she sauntered in our direction.
We told her we needed to hide the young princess, that we couldn’t risk her being found by the trackers that had almost certainly been sent out to search for her. She invited us into her cave, offering huge boulders as seats as we waited for her to mix a variety of different herbs together.
I looked around the huge cavern, it wasn’t as gloomy as I expected it to be when I first saw it from the outside. One thousand years of inhabiting the cave had obviously compelled her to make it into somewhat of a home for herself.
Although there was no real pieces of furniture within the place, it still managed to look comfortable. Animal hides lined the walls and a pile of furs were set up on the floor in the far corner, I assume she used them as bedding, to sleep on.
The boulders that we all perched upon were also adorned with animal furs, making them slightly more comfortable to sit on. Then there was the fire pit in the centre of the room with a cauldron suspended above it.
I was pulled from my observations when Eos cleared her throat and handed me a large glass vial, containing a purple liquid.
“Place this into an atomiser and make sure you spray the babe daily, when she is older make sure she keeps up with the routine. The elixir will conceal her powerful aura and suppress any bonds she may form with anyone.” I looked at her in confusion.
“It will temporarily suppress any bonds to her biological family...or her mate when she comes of age.” The witch said with an eye roll. “But it has to be used daily, otherwise the potion’s power will gradually diminish until it is ineffective.”
“Thank you.” I said simply.
She stroked a curl of red hair away from the sleeping infant’s face and I didn’t miss the intrigued look Eos gave her.
“You know where I am when it needs replenishing.”
I nod a farewell and took my leave with the baby princess and my bottle of concealment potion.
And now, nearly fifteen years later and the potion is seemingly still concealing her existence.
“I hear everything is falling into place.” I smirked slyly as Maxine sauntered into the room.
“It is…” I confirmed. “They will be mated before we know it.”
“And with such a powerful Luna, our son and this pack will be the most revered in the country.” Maxine’s green eyes lit up as she smiled widely. “Now all we have to do is find Olivia a strong alpha mate.”
I leant back into the leather back of the chair with a long sigh, that task would prove more difficult.
I was proud of my daughter, there was no denying that she was beautiful, smart and a capable fighter, but I feared the best we could hope for her, was for her to be chosen by a mate less alpha or more probable, beta.
Although she had my alpha blood running through her veins, Maxine was still only a warrior’s daughter, Olivia would never hold the amount of strength or power that a daughter of two alpha’s, or even an alpha and a beta would possess.
I would certainly have to work hard and call in some favours to make an advantageous match for my daughter.
